Summer Fields Care Home specialises in the care of the elderly mentally infirm, and those living with milder forms of dementia. It offers long term residential care, respite, daycare and short term stay in a safe, warm and welcoming environment.

The home is a gorgeous period property located in a peaceful residential area.

It has a well-kept, lawned garden and sun deck, which residents make regular use of during warmer periods.

Inside the accommodation is bright and comfortable, with communal lounges and dining areas that facilitate plenty of socialising.

There is a dedicated activities coordinator, who makes sure that residents are always engaged and entertained. This includes the continuation of hobbies and learning of new skills, as well as day trips and opportunities to engage with the local community.

Very dark and dingy. My husband was here for two weeks respite and will never be going back there!
Went in to see him and he was not dressed properly, had no pull ups on only his jeans and was told he dressed himself, do they not check if they have undies on, he had someone else's pyjama top on that
was two sizes too small for him. Sitting in the lounge he was kept in the quiet side as they have a quiet side and a lively side. When I asked for him to be taken to the lively side in the day I was told oh they are too busy to have another there! Would never ever recommend this place to anyone.

It is regrettable to receive such negative feedback. Especially when I know we all work so hard to meet the varied and complex needs of the residents. However we take everyone's comments on board, negative or otherwise and look at what we can do to improve. What must be acknowledged, at least in order to have some context, is that from the day your husband arrived, he was resistant to placement and refused any input from care staff and expressed challenging behaviours when any intervention was attempted by staff to meet his needs. I'm sure you will understand that it then makes it very difficult for staff to address the issues such as personal care with him and hope goes someway to explain why you found him in the state of dress that you did on visits. As I understand it, this was explained to you on several occasions by senior staff and at the time no concern or complaint was raised to me either. Should you wish to call me at the home to discuss further, please do not hesitate.

I was looking for a nursing home for my brother and after visits to other nursing homes, which I didn't like, I was so pleased to have found Summer Fields Care Home. I was immediately struck by the friendly atmosphere and the kindness of the staff, including management. The residents are treated with
dignity and there is a calming atmosphere.

My dad has been at Summer Fields for just over a year now. It is the best place that he has been in. The staff are wonderful, my Dad says that the food is good (apparently he often has seconds), and his room is nice. I feel confident that he is being looked after and well cared for.

Mum has been treated with dignity and excellent personal care, encouraged with diet and fluids especially as due to illness she has had a lot of weight loss, staff are very welcoming and caring especially one staff member in particular. Not sure of the names of the other staff yet just getting to know

My mum came to Summer Fields in late November. It has taken her a while to settle, as we expected, but know we couldn't have chosen a better home, she is so well looked after... All the staff are amazing and great with Mum and encourage her so much on a day-to-day basis. She has great fun with them
all, and nothing is too much for them. All our family have been made to feel more than welcome. Summer Fields is spotless throughout. Would highly recommend it. The grounds are also lovely. Nice, quiet setting, with lovely outside space for everybody to use. Couldn't be happier. Thanks to all the staff.

My beautiful and loving mother has been part of the Summer Fields family for a number of years, and from the moment she arrived, she has been treated with nothing but kindness and love from all of the wonderful and amazing staff. I know that Mum has been happy, and that makes me feel at ease.
Nothing
seems to be any trouble for the staff in caring for Mum, and I know that she is comfortable at all times, and although her memory has deteriorated, I know in my heart that she loves all the staff, and on her behalf, I thank them all from the bottom of my heart. I have made friends with the staff; I treasure their friendship, and I will hold the love I have for them forever.
The staff at Summer Fields are truly exceptional in their calling, and they know exactly what I think of them, as I tell them every time I visit Mum or call.

My mum has been living at Summerfields Care Home since January 2023. The staff have been incredibly caring of Mum and supportive of our family since day one. It was very quickly borne upon me that the home really does care about the people they are looking after. It has also been made very clear to
the family that they are there to support us all, too. We are always made welcome. There is a lovely 'family feeling' to the place, which has impressed all of our family when visiting. Thank you to all of the staff for looking after Mum so well and for making our family feel so welcome. The staff go above and beyond on a daily basis, and I suspect they do not grasp how much of a positive impact they have. Thank you.

My lovely mum passed away recently, and I just want to say from the bottom of my hear - thank you to all the wonderful and amazing staff. My mum was so very happy here; they treat everyone, including families, with dignity and respect and are so professional, they really are fabulous, a wonderful group
of people where nothing was ever too much trouble, and the care and attention my mum received were second to none, and the support they gave to me and my family was amazing. I would, without hesitation, recommend this care home.

Our dear friend passed away this morning peacefully and was surrounded by loving and caring staff. How blessed that he was at Summer Fields. The staff were professional with a collective huge caring heart. He was treated with love and respect even after he passed. The staff are so much more than nurses
and carers; they are angels quietly going about caring for our most vulnerable people. As visitors, we were treated as family, sharing our grief together. My friend was loved by all. The staff went above and beyond to make sure he was loved and respected. For that, I will always be grateful. God bless the staff at Summer Fields. My mum had to be admitted to a care home during the 2nd lockdown in 2020. Because of Covid, I couldn’t go and visit any home due to the restrictions, so went on the recommendation of a friend whose mum had been in Summerfield. It has turned out to be the perfect choice for my mum. She is so happy, well
looked after and I couldn’t ask any more from the staff who look after her. The staff are fantastic and so kind to her and always keep me informed of any issues, and if I have had any concerns, they have been dealt with promptly. They keep the residents entertained with lots of activities and karaoke that my mum seems to really enjoy. Thank you for looking after her so well. I couldn’t be more pleased I chose Summerfield for my mum.

Fantastic home. My mum is well cared for all the time, and the staff are so caring - they do so much for the residents.
The home does so much to stimulate the residents with the various activities; they love it when the singer comes in, and they can have a dance and a singalong. They have pamper days
where they get their hair and nails done, nostalgia and reminiscent days and arts and crafts.
My mum is so happy and has lots of friends.
The last few years have been hard for the residents and families, but the staff were brilliant as always.
The rooms are clean and comfortable, as is the home itself.
I'm so glad we chose Summer Fields as my mum's home; she has been living there for a good few years now and has always had the best care, and her needs are taken care of every day.
Well done to all the staff at Summer Fields - you are all amazing.

The staff were always lovely, and, unprompted, they provided us, as a family, with a picnic in the gardens on my Dad’s 90th birthday! Mum really enjoyed seeing us all together. The picnic was lovely and a really kind thought. The manager was always nothing but accommodating, and called me when I had
emailed him with a list of questions that I needed answering, just the usual sort of anxious questions that anyone would have in their first experience of having a relative in a care home. He addressed all my concerns and was reassuring and professional. When mum left Summerfields in October, a vase (not valuable, but precious to me, as was my grandmother’s) had gone astray in the move. A staff member on mum’s floor went above and beyond, weeks after Mum had moved out, to locate the vase – which she did! – and she took the time and trouble to keep in contact with my Dad. Such a kind thing to do, and very much appreciated by us. I commend Summerfields for the care that they provided

I would like to say a massive thank you to all the staff at Summerfield Care Home. Mum was transferred there 2 weeks ago from the hospital. It has been hard during this Coronavirus lockdown as I couldn't view it nor enter. Mum seems to have settled in really well. The staff have been amazing and have
kept me updated about mum. I visited mum in the pod yesterday and am so grateful to have seen her. She looked so well and cared for and the carers are so accomodating. From the bottom of my heart thank you for caring for her, it's amazing to know she is in safe hands.

Job Title: Home Manager

I have worked with Your Health Group for almost three years. I enjoy being a part of a team that is making the lives of our residents as happy and comfortable as possible, ensuring that their care needs are met each and every day.


My care career began 18 years ago, and over the years I have developed a vast knowledge of Dementia and what it takes to provide an excellent standard of care to those who are vulnerable and dependent on others. I have progressed from kitchen assistant to senior care team and now Home Manager, completing my NVQs in Health and Social Care and a Diploma Level 5 in Management and Leadership.


I really do love my job and the challenges it brings each day - every day really is different. It means so much when you see the people you look after not only living happily but thriving. I have an incredibly dedicated team working alongside me. They, and the rewards of the job, are why I will always enjoy this job, even after 18 years!
