Summer Fields Care Home specialises in the care of the elderly mentally infirm, and those living with milder forms of dementia. It offers long term residential care, respite, daycare and short term stay in a safe, warm and welcoming environment.

The home is a gorgeous period property located in a peaceful residential area.

It has a well-kept, lawned garden and sun deck, which residents make regular use of during warmer periods.

Inside the accommodation is bright and comfortable, with communal lounges and dining areas that facilitate plenty of socialising.

There is a dedicated activities coordinator, who makes sure that residents are always engaged and entertained. This includes the continuation of hobbies and learning of new skills, as well as day trips and opportunities to engage with the local community.

Social Services recommended this Care Home for my Dad during the Coronavirus lockdown so I couldn’t view it nor enter. But having read the good reviews, I agreed. Dad has really settled in thanks to the genuine staff and when I took Dad it was heartbreaking for me but because the deputy manager was
so friendly upon our arrival, I knew Dad would be safe and well cared for in Summer Fields. The gardens are well kept and the rooms are nice. Staff keep me updated about Dad which is so appreciated. I would like to thank the staff for all that they do for my lovely Dad and hopefully, I can meet you all one day soon. Stay safe, so much thanks to you all.

Thank you for the positive feedback. It's always appreciated. Please be assured that while management are not in the home during the weekend, the home is not left without qualified supervisors. We have Team leaders on shift as well as our senior care staff to ensure continuity of care. Management are always on call during the weekends and will come into the home if the need arises. We are always reviewing our staffing levels. This is dependent on the number of residents we have living with us and their individual level of care needs. From the first meeting with the assistant manager, I knew this was the right place. All staff are amazing and nothing is too much. They keep us informed all the time if there are any issues. Mum has improved since being there and I feel it is the fact she has company and gets involved. Previous to going
to the home she would be on her own not going out or doing anything, all she had was family visits.

My Nan turned 100 in October last year and the staff and other residents were amazing. Nothing is ever too much trouble for this team. They keep the residents entertained, engaged and are always thinking of new things to do. I have visited the residence many times and the place is always clean, the
residents happy and the staff seriously amazing. I would high recommend.

Due to the recent outbreak of covid19 virus and everyone on lockdown, it is hard for everyone to see their loved ones and especially when they are living in care. We as a family are very close to our nan and the staff have gone out of their way at this very difficult time to keep all residents safe
and to video call the family so we can see our loved ones. This is amazing as we get to see them face to face and talk as if we are with them. I can not thank Summerfield Care Home and staff enough. I know my Nan is well looked after and treated like family, I know she is in safe hands and I do not have to worry about her. I enjoy my call from her, all thanks to the staff you're doing an amazing job, everyone. Thank you so much.

My dear husband has young-onset Alzheimer's disease. Summer Fields originally took care of him on an extended respite in December 2019 while I searched for a permanent home for him. During this time I spent a lot of time in the care home to teach the staff about him because he cannot speak and you have
to know him really well to communicate with him and read him. I arrived randomly at all times of the day and observed first hand how every shift of staff was dedicated, caring and efficient and the first-rate quality of the food, care and clinical care that all residents received. I was welcomed and kept fully informed and involved in everything pertaining to his care.
The staff begged me to choose Summer Fields for him because they had grown so fond of him and I realised that this was the case and was sure that he could not be in a better place. I believe that suspending visiting weeks before lockdown has saved lives. It is clearly well run.

Excellent care home who responded to the Covid-19 outbreak with thorough professionalism. Closed home well before lockdown, having the resident's safety and wellbeing in mind, and throughout have kept in touch to keep me informed of my Mums care and all actions taking place within the home to keep the
resident's safe.

My aunt is a temporary resident waiting for an assessment. The staff seem helpful and kind. She enjoys the food. Some parts of the home could do with a lick of paint but on the whole, is very clean.

While visiting a number of care homes for our mum, from the minute we walked into Summerfields we knew she would be happy there. Staff are great with mum and all other residents they all have a great rapport.
Mum is well looked after and encouraged to take part in various activities.
Her room is
clean, warm and cosy but to be fair is not unlike a hotel room as only used for sleeping in at night.
We were even invited to have dinner with Mum there on Christmas day which I thought was a lovely gesture from the home itself as we couldn't bring Mum out due to her ailments.
I can't fault any of the staff, they are all great, from management to care staff, they go above and beyond the call of duty and anyone that says otherwise has me to answer to! We wanted the best for our mum and in choosing Summerfields we know we made the right choice.
Keep up the good work Summerfields.

Cannot thank the staff enough for the care they give to my nan. They do an amazing job, I cannot single any of the carers out because they are all fantastic. My nan has been ill over the past couple of weeks and even though they have a lot of people there to care for, they have made sure my nan has
had the best care they could give everyone. They are an asset to the home and residents. You are all amazing and do a fantastic job.

My mum's social worker recently recommended Summerfield Care Home for my mum to have some respite.
I highly recommend Summerfield Care Home.
The carers and management are genuine and give proper care. One of the carers is giving up her Sunday morning to take my mum to church and getting in half an
hour early so she can walk my mum there. Amazing! Also, she has done a painting and I popped in 10 minutes ago and there she was in the cinema, drinking a small glass of wine with cheese and biscuits enjoying a good film with her friend. This gives me so much peace of mind knowing my mum is getting the best care anyone could possibly give her thank you, Summerfield, I haven't seen my mum so happy for years.

I visit my friend usually three times a week and take him out for the morning or afternoon.


I am always greeted warmly by members of staff who are very attentive to my friend's needs. The staff are multi-racial which adds colour and diversity and great friendship among them. A very happy atmosphere

I have always found Summer Fields to be a lovely home with wonderful, caring staff who cannot do enough for my friend who has been there for the last two years.

I can't praise this care home enough. The care staff are very thoughtful, patient and very helpful to the residents, their families and friends. The residents are always clean and tidy. I have witnessed activities and entertainment for the residents, which they thoroughly enjoy. It's lovely seeing them
smile, laugh and sing. The bedroom, lounge and bathrooms are always very clean. The manager/duty and receptionist have always been helpful. Nothing is too much trouble for all the staff.

My dad has settled in well and is very well cared for. Eats and sleeps well - enjoys his food and enjoys the banter with some of the staff. My dad really enjoys his trips out especially to the museum and the tea dinner dance with the Mayor at the Town Hall. He misses a certain staff member who has recently
left, he had a great rapport with her. He has a good relationship with all the staff. There are other staff members who are great with my dad. I feel confident with the care my dad is receiving as he's so settled which helps me and my family and we feel confident too.

Job Title: Home Manager

I have worked with Your Health Group for almost three years. I enjoy being a part of a team that is making the lives of our residents as happy and comfortable as possible, ensuring that their care needs are met each and every day.


My care career began 18 years ago, and over the years I have developed a vast knowledge of Dementia and what it takes to provide an excellent standard of care to those who are vulnerable and dependent on others. I have progressed from kitchen assistant to senior care team and now Home Manager, completing my NVQs in Health and Social Care and a Diploma Level 5 in Management and Leadership.


I really do love my job and the challenges it brings each day - every day really is different. It means so much when you see the people you look after not only living happily but thriving. I have an incredibly dedicated team working alongside me. They, and the rewards of the job, are why I will always enjoy this job, even after 18 years!
