Summer Fields is the fourth home my partner has been in since 2016. I am most pleased with this one. It is a very homely, clean and cosy home where the staff are all so very kind, caring and patient. They treat the residents with love and compassion. They have cared exceptionally well for my partner
and got the doctor to him when he hasn't been well, got him to eat when they were worried about him. Also, the food is fresh and well cooked, very tasty and nutritious.

Mum has been very well cared for here with lots of professional help. Mums room is lovely and all areas are kept very clean and tidy, food is home made and of very good quality. Mum is happy here and there are nice activities to stimulate her. As a family, we are so welcome at any time which is such
a relief.

I have always been made very welcome at my visits. Staff have been very helpful, answered any questions I might have about the care and well-being of my sister. My sister is always in a happy frame of mind, and can always interact with myself or any of my other sisters and relatives who visit.

We are very pleased with the attention my sister-in-law receives, she is very happy, well looked after and we noticed how clean she is in her appearance. She has been well looked after since she has arrived here since she was diagnosed with her condition.
The owner is very good with all the residents,
in particular the staff are very caring towards all the residents and we are quite happy with my sister-in-law being here as a resident.

I'm not here in the day time so I can't really comment on activities. However when I came in during the week the entertainment I have seen is very good. All the staff are excellent, very caring, concerned, eager and there is a lot of humour.
My mum is very happy and relaxed here and I am at all times
made very welcome. The families of other residents I have spoken to all have a similar opinions to myself.

We are very impressed and reassured by the concern and quality of care shown to our sister who suffers from dementia. She seems as happy as her condition allows and she is very clean and comfortable in this residential care home. We particularly like the 'hands on' approach of the owner who is fully
aware of all his residents and gives his caring attention readily.

My mother has just passed away after spending the last 9 months in a very caring environment. The staff are excellent and nothing was too much trouble. We could leave her there knowing she was safe and happy.
I just wish I could have persuaded her to go in earlier. Her Alzheimer's was well developed
when she went, but it gave the family such peace of mind and we all enjoyed visiting and being given numerous cups of tea.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.210)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.210) out of 10 for Summer Fields Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.410 for Summer Fields Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (90 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (12 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 117 Ratings = 4.41

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Summer Fields Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 10 = 0.9

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I have worked with Your Health Group for almost three years. I enjoy being a part of a team that is making the lives of our residents as happy and comfortable as possible, ensuring that their care needs are met each and every day.

My care career began 18 years ago, and over the years I have developed a vast knowledge of Dementia and what it takes to provide an excellent standard of care to those who are vulnerable and dependent on others. I have progressed from kitchen assistant to senior care team and now Home Manager, completing my NVQs in Health and Social Care and a Diploma Level 5 in Management and Leadership.

I really do love my job and the challenges it brings each day - every day really is different. It means so much when you see the people you look after not only living happily but thriving. I have an incredibly dedicated team working alongside me. They, and the rewards of the job, are why I will always enjoy this job, even after 18 years!
