Astbury Lodge is situated within spacious grounds, a mile away from Ellesmere Port town centre. It caters for 41 residents and has two specialist ten bed households, The Meadows and The Poppies, which provide care for people with dementia.

All areas within Astbury Lodge are now smoke-free, including the lounges, each of which offers a different atmosphere. Several lounges offer the choice of a television and video, whilst others offer an opportunity to relax quietly, whilst maybe reading a book.

At least one of the lounges is fitted with a hearing loop, a discreet device to improve sound reception and aid those with hearing difficulties.

There are several dining rooms where meals are served, or residents can opt to eat in their own rooms if they prefer.

The garden has been renovated by The Princes Trust, which chose Astbury Lodge for their community project. It benefits from a greenhouse, bird feeders and a number of quiet areas where residents can sit whilst enjoying the elements.

A number of services are available to residents, e.g a hairdresser visits on a weekly basis; newspaper and magazine deliveries are arranged with a local newsagent. There is a separate charge for these services, which is charged to residents on a weekly basis.

An activities co-ordinator arranges a wide choice of activities, according to residents’ interests. These include weekly activities such as carpet bowls, bingo, quizzes, local outings within walking distance, as well as other events which take place monthly such as a mobile library, memory box, external entertainers and Sunshine Singers.

A varied and wholesome menu is offered and the cook can cater for any special dietary requirements.

A Church of England service is held monthly at Astbury Lodge and a Roman Catholic priest visits on request.

Astbury Lodge is a five minute walk away from local shops.

Great environment and atmosphere. Residents are always happy and well cared for. Loads of entertainment and fun activities going on. Facilities are great with both communal areas as well as quieter lounges.

My relative has been there a few months and we have always found it a warm and welcoming care home. My relative is always well dressed, well kept and staff seem more than happy to help in any way they can and have gone above and beyond at times to help us. Having worked in care homes Astbury Lodge is
one of the nicest I've been to and I would highly recommend it.

From the minute my mum arrived at Astbury Lodge the staff have shown her nothing but the highest level of kindness, care and support to enable her to settle in quickly without any fuss. Dementia can be a challenging illness and can present the staff with a range of difficult situations, however, I cannot
praise the whole team highly enough for the care, patience and dedication that they continue to show towards my mum. We are kept fully informed about any issues regarding her health or well-being and we know they have her best interests at heart. We know of many other people in the wider community who have entrusted their own family members to this hard-working and dedicated team over recent years and every one of them had nothing but praise for the whole team. As a family, we have to agree. We know we have made a good choice.

My aunt has been at Astbury Lodge for a while now, the staff we've met on our visits have been lovely! Every one of them knew my aunt's name and showed such a caring, warm, friendly nature. My aunt seems so settled there which is a comfort to us her family! Like a home from home!

My grandma lived at Astbury Lodge from spring 2021 to autumn 2022 and I can't speak highly enough of this care home in all aspects. She would often tell me how happy she was there, how kind the staff and other residents were and how much she liked the food. I visited many times and found the staff to
be friendly and caring and right up until the end they treated my grandma with the utmost dignity. They had regular social activities for residents as well as for family and friends too. So, to summarise, this care home was absolutely fantastic for my grandma and I would, without any hesitation, recommend it. We all now feel part of the Astbury Lodge family.

Astbury Lodge was a loving and caring environment for Dad over almost 2 years. Nothing was to much trouble - even when Dad's dementia meant he could be unreasonable. I enjoyed regular visiting whenever I wanted to see him before lockdown. The carers kept me informed about Dad's health and wellbeing.
The home is very welcoming with small lounge areas rather than one big space. Dad was well cared for in his final days when he was Covid positive and we couldn't see him. A huge thank you to you all.

My mum became a resident in 2019. From day one, Astbury Lodge was home. My mum could still be independent and go out every day. The team provided support, structure and routines, that was so important to us as a family and my mum to keep her mentally well. I can only commend the amazing team, from those
that kept her room sparkling clean, the team that washed all her clothes, the team providing care during the night with a cuppa and a chat, the team providing home-cooked delicious food daily at every meal, the team that organised social entertainment, the team that support her personal care, the team that sat and just had a chat, the team that provided support every second of every day. That’s the Astbury Lodge team, incredible through and through. Every single minute of the day my mum felt at home at Astbury Lodge. Sadly my mum passed away suddenly and very unexpectedly but can honestly say she was treated with care and dignity to the last minute of her life. I highly recommend.

My father was in Astbury Lodge from September 2019 to February 2020 when he had to move to a nursing home. Astbury Lodge were fantastic from the time he entered to the time he left. All the staff were great with him. The place itself is light and airy and has a feeling of calm. There are activities
of all descriptions to keep the residents entertained. Food is great for all. I would recommend Astbury Lodge to anyone who has to go into a care home.

Mum arrived from hospital in the midst of Christmas festivities and whilst we thought this would be great for Mum (she always enjoys a party!) with hindsight it made everything a bit overwhelming and meant she was initially very confused. This was distressing for everyone however without exception the
staff were so kind and considerate. After a very short time, Mum settled down and is now happily enjoying life - she's made several friends and they think they've known each other for years even though it's less than a month! Mum actually thinks she's at boarding school which is lovely!
Astbury Lodge is clean and homely with smaller lounge areas rather than one big sitting room making it feel more cosy and personal, enabling residents to sit and chat more readily. There's always a friendly staff member around but not in an obtrusive way. All in all, we can't thank everyone at Astbury Lodge enough for the care they have shown to Mum.

My friend has dementia and was unable to cope at home - her GP said she needed constant care. Astbury Lodge in Ellesmere Port had been recommended to me by a senior nurse at one of the nursing homes I work in (administering Holistic treatments to the elderly). I just turned up one day and asked to look
around. I was made very welcome and shown around the EMI unit and could see that it was as much like home as they could possibly make it for the residents. Everywhere was clean and well cared for, there's a small area with two tables and some chairs that put me in mind of a little cafe. The staff wear their own clothes to avoid looking clinical which added to the homely feeling there. Thankfully my friend was able to go there as they had a vacancy, she surprised us all by settling really quickly and never tired of telling me how nice it was spending time with all these nice friends. Every member of staff I met was attentive, caring and facilitated the needs of their residents. Priceless.

My mother has been residing at Astbury Lodge for approximately 18 months now and during this time I have always felt that she has been well looked after and cared for by the friendly staff at the home who seem to have a genuine regard and concern for their residents.


Astbury Lodge has recently had

a change of management and now has a manager who has had hands on experience for the caring of residents and therefore has a good insight as to what residents need and what will improve their quality of life.


Following this change I've noticed that there has been initially some small and simple improvements at the home with bigger ones on the horizon and I believe that these changes are making and will make the home a better place to be, as I visit everyday and talk to many of the staff I get the feeling that everyone is fully behind these improvements and are looking forward to a bright future.
