My relative moved into The Hawthorns three months ago and she has been very happy there. The staff are all very helpful and friendly and treated my relative with respect and dignity. There is a lovely, friendly atmosphere at The Hawthorns, and all the residents seem happy and sociable. Unfortunately,
The Hawthorns could not provide the dementia care my mother needs, so she has now moved; otherwise, I would have been happy for her to stay long-term.

The Hawthorns is a friendly, well-run care home. The staff could not be better. They are always helpful and there is a happy atmosphere about the place. Some homes have an unpleasant smell but this is unknown at The Hawthorns. We are very pleased with the way my xxx is being looked after. I am glad
we made the right choice.

My partner, who is 85, arrived at The Hawthorns from the hospital a year ago having suffered a stroke. He was far from well and was clearly feeling anxious and disturbed about the future, sensing that his ability to cope with every day was not what he had been used to over the last few years and certainly
was not improving. It was bewildering and worrying both to him and to us. We hated seeing him like that. He hated feeling that way. The care provided at The Hawthorns has been understanding of both his physical disabilities and his growing limitations - he keeps busy, but he is also kept safe, and importantly, he gets enjoyment and a feeling of purpose from the day. We can't thank you enough for what you are doing for him and for all your residents under what continue to be very difficult circumstances.

My mother, who is 92, had a weeks respite in the Hawthorns at the beginning of September. I was so nervous and anxious at the prospect of Mum's first taste of a care home and whether she would settle. I need not have worried. I had long discussions with the staff before admission about the care my mum
needed and what would help her settle. The staff were wonderful and the care excellent. She settled in well and the staff, day and night, did everything they could to make her feel welcome. I can’t thank everyone enough, it was my husband's and my first break in two years. I would highly recommend this home to anyone. Thank you for the care and attention you gave my mum.

I had a friend here and visited a few times so when my partner's 'live-in' carer went back to Greece and I had to go to Marakesh for my daughter's 60th, I decided on The Hawthorns. I also went to my house on the Isle of Man with my daughter knowing my partner was safe here. Then, when the airline went
bust and then the virus struck I was away for 3 months - thank God he was here.

My mother has been a resident since July 2018. Historically there has been an inconsistent level of care, several management and staff changes and a lack of communication with family relatives. However, following a poor CQC report and following another management change there has been a noticeable improvement
in many areas.
The overall atmosphere has become more positive and there has recently been a welcome, more hygienic upgrade to the flooring of the upper floor. The staff are more settled and the majority are kind, considerate, friendly and helpful, albeit there still appears to be an issue with the level of staff at times.
There is a more structured approach to the health care of the individual residents with specific responsibilities assigned. The appointment of an Activities Co-ordinator shows a renewed commitment to the wellbeing of the residents. The Hawthorns has dealt with COVID brilliantly and should be very proud of their sustained 'COVID-free' status. For other improvements to have also been initiated in this period is admirable.
Things are definitely going in the right direction!

I would just like to thank the manager and all his staff for looking after mum ... when she was at the Hawthorns for rest bite for 5 days. Mum loved it and we are hoping for mum to stay again in Sept, every member of staff had smiles on their faces and it put mine and my sister's mind at rest, as we
were a little apprehensive as this is the first time we had done this but they made mum welcome from day one. Keep up the good work as I said previously we are hoping for mum to stay in Sept. Many thanks.

When my mother resided at your home, I was very satisfied with the care she received. She was treated like royalty which I appreciated very much in her final weeks. All the staff loved my mum and she loved all of them. I live in North Wales and it was wonderful that I didn't have to worry about my mum.
If I needed to know anything, the staff would let me know straight away and I was able to ring and enquire about mum every day and that also put my mind at rest. Thank you.

My Mother-In-Law has vascular dementia, and attends The Hawthorns for respite on a regular basis. She loves it here. The staff are outstanding and treat Mum with care, compassion and respect. The care manager is such a warm friendly person and nothing is too much trouble, he is always available to answer
any questions I have. In my opinion The Hawthorns is outstanding. And as a former nurse I do not say this lightly.... The fact that she does not want to come home says it all really. A special thanks to all the girls who are involved in Mums care, without you life would be so much more difficult. Without a doubt having worked in a number of care homes throughout my nursing career, The Hawthorns excels in every way... Thank you everyone see you again soon.....

Friendly and obliging greetings by all staff. Caring attitude to person I visit. Very good food for residents. Happiness of the residents I speak to. Cleanliness of my friend's room, cleaners always popping their head round the door to attend to the room. Attentive nursing care by staff. Matron held
in high esteem by my friend in the home. Special thoughts by matron and staff organising a very special birthday celebration for my elderly friend. Very approachable manager, listening to my comments humbly. Respectful care to my elderly patient friend by ALL staff.
