My daughter has been a resident at Orcadia for over 20 years. She has been extremely happy over this time. Staff are very supportive and are able to provide an environment with sufficient freedom for residents to live their lives safely to their full potential.

Lauren

Lauren MacDonald

Job Title: Registered Manager

Joined: 2012

Lauren has 34 years of experience in care and has previously cared for older people as well as adults with learning disabilities. She has a selection of qualifications including a HNC in Management and is a Registered General Nurse and her level 5 Leadership and Management course.


Lauren loves her job and feels very lucky to work in such a warm friendly environment with good people.


Leanne

Leanne Thompson

Job Title: Assistant manager

Joined: 2012

Lovely Leanne began her journey at Orcadia during a work-based placement from college. She was a natural with the Service users and was offered a position as soon as she completed her courses (levels 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care). Everyone thinks highly of Leanne because of her kind and thoughtful nature. She has excellent communication skills and always treats everyone with dignity and respect. Leanne loves animals and her family.


She got married in 2021 and invited all the service users and staff to her reception. She enjoys crafts and cooking with the Service Users and likes to contribute to the planning of activities.


Leanne has completed her level 5 qualification in Management.


Julie

Julie Greaves

Job Title: Support Worker

Julie is a highly experienced support worker. She began working for Alders Homecare in 1991 and has continued working in care ever since. Julie has many skills and has worked with various client groups. Julie is married with four boys. She loves animals and the outdoors. Kind, caring, compassionate, competent and funny.


Bethany

Bethany Unsworth

Job Title: Support Worker

Joined: 2016

Beth is a kind and caring young lady who began coming to Orcadia when she was studying Health and Social Care at Marple College. She quickly became popular with the Service Users and staff. Beth was offered a full-time place with the team.


Beth then went on to secure a job in Cyprus caring for people in their own homes. Beth has experience working with elderly people as well as people with learning difficulties. She is also experienced in delivering palliative care. At all times Beth treats others with dignity and respect.


She has levels 2 and 3 in health and social care and is presently studying for her level 4 Leadership qualification. Beth is a girl who always puts the needs of others before herself. Extremely kind and compassionate.


Vanessa

Vanessa Glynn

Job Title: Senior Support Worker

Vanessa has been friends with Orcadia for over 20 years and has an excellent rapport with the Service Users. She is caring and compassionate with an in-depth knowledge of all aspects of learning disabilities. Vanessa has many skills and is a very good communicator. Vanessa has her levels 2 and 3 in care.


Roger

Roger Jones

Job Title: Support Worker (Night)

Joined: 2002

Roger has many years experience working in the care sector and has been at Orcadia for over ten years. He clearly loves his job and demonstrates this by always doing a lot more than is expected of him. Roger has a calm and gentle manner and always treats the Service User' with dignity and respect. He has a great sense of fun and enjoys joking with people to create a positive relaxed atmosphere.
Before Roger joined the caring profession he has his own business and is used to problem-solving and assessing risks. He has an NVQ level 2 and 3 plus many other courses including Mental Health Awareness, Dementia, Administration of Medicines and Diabetes.
Roger is a highly valued part of the team.

Kathryn Wilson

An excellent knowledge of working with people with learning disabilities as well as previous skills and qualifications in childcare. Very organised and always keen to help. Nothing is too much trouble and always wears a smile. Kathryn is studying for her level 3 in adult social care. Katherine is very hard-working and extremely organised. A valued member of the team.
