This care home took my sister in shortly after our mother died and the have taken great care after. She is blind and has learning difficulties and during this COVID period, they have looked after her happiness.

My aunty has learning disabilities and is blind. I cannot state enough how well she has been looked after during COVID. We as a family feel well informed and that she is getting the highest standard of care. The staff at Wealstone feel like a second family and the care she has received is second to
none.

I and my family could not recommend the staff and service at Wealstone enough. Nothing is too much trouble for them, and we have never seen my Nan so happy as she is from the day she was brought to Wealstone.

My Mum moved into Wealstone Care Home full time in February '20, which was shortly followed by lockdown. Although a difficult decision for us to make as a family at the time, we feel she's been in the best and safest place. The staff have been wonderful and caring during the last few months. She's clearly
happy and loves the company of the other residents. Regular updates are posted with many photos, so we can see she's enjoying herself with all the activities. Window visits have been allowed which is great to just phone and pop down and see her regularly. We're very grateful to the wonderful staff looking after her. Thank you.

My mum has been a resident here since February, I and the rest of our family are very happy with all the staff and care she receives.
My mum found it very hard to settle at first, and due to the Covid 19, we only get to see her through the window. I do feel if we could have had some more video chats
it may have made it a little easier, but the staff are so busy and obviously have to make sure everyone is safe and well. I can understand why it may be difficult to get a fixed time that is suitable for all concerned. However, I wouldn’t dream of letting mum reside anywhere else; I do feel like all the residents and staff are like family.

My mother has lived at Wealstone over a number of years and she has been extremely happy there. She has met numerous friends and some as far back as her school days, this helped as they had lots of things in common.
The staff have been exceptional, particularly over the last few months when mum was
not able to look after herself, nothing was ever too much trouble. The staff were not only mums support care but they were her friends and she always saw them that way, constantly monitoring her when she couldn't leave her room and also installing room alerts due to falling periods.

A special bed was made available for her and puréed food provided to improve her comfort, sadly we lost mum earlier than month and as gratitude to Wealstone mums funeral started at Wealstone to allow staff, friends and residents to pay there respects.

In conclusion I would recommend this home, the staff are brilliant and the level of care and attention is excellent. Thank you for looking after Mum !!

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.311)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.311) out of 10 for Wealstone is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.559 for Wealstone is calculated as follows: ( (65 Excellents x 5) + (29 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 102 Ratings = 4.559

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.752 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wealstone is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.4 = 0.952

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
