My father has been a resident in Abbeyfield House for over a year and we have been impressed with the care given. The staff are attentive and caring and do what they can to meet not only my father's needs but his 'wishes' too. Most days he enjoys a walk around the garden which has been thoughtfully
planned to provide interest for the residents. The staff also make the effort to provide activities for all different interests.

My Mother and Father are both resident at Abbeyfield. It is an excellent care home with wonderful staff who are very kind and caring. My parents have separate en-suite rooms and the whole site is very spacious with a number of different areas to sit, including a big garden. The residents are encouraged
to take part in a range of activities. Mum and Dad like the food, are comfortable, and feel very settled at Abbeyfield.

Since Mum has been in Abbeyfield she has been cared for with dignity and has constant care according to her needs. She has commented, to friends and family, how she is not lonely anymore and how the food is brilliant.
When communicating with the home I have found everyone more than accommodating and
very supportive.
Would recommend Abbeyfield for the care of a loved one.

My mum has been very well looked after and is much happier than when she was in her own home. She has regular contact with carers throughout the day, all of whom she likes and are very kind to her. The food is excellent. As a family, we could not be happier with the service provided.

My mother has been staying at Abbeyfield for several years now. The care home is extremely clean, staff are friendly and helpful and my mother is treated with kindness and dignity at all times.
I am kept up to date with care plans, welfare, and activities and have recommended Abbeyfield to other people
whose relatives have received a similar standard of care.
I have no issues whatsoever in recommending it to any other family members or friends.

I spent one week in Abbeyfield House for respite care. I absolutely loved it. The home was spotless, the staff were stupendous and the food was excellent. I am very much hoping I shall be able to go there again. A wonderful home run very efficiently by all the staff. Many thanks.

My mother has been resident at Abbeyfield since February 2021 and so far have been extremely happy with all aspects of the home. My mother has a great bond with the staff, communication is good and the food and services are all very good. I live and work abroad and visit as often as possible but I
have the knowledge mum is being well cared for.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.308)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.308) out of 10 for Abbeyfield House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.958 for Abbeyfield House is calculated as follows: ( (69 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.958

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.35 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Abbeyfield House is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.75

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
