Mum’s been a resident for the last 12 months and has been diagnosed with Dementia and Alzheimer’s. Although this is not a specialist care area for the home, the staff have been totally understanding of Mum’s situation, caring for her as best they can. Mum was reluctant to move from her bungalow but
that decision was made for her by my brother and I. We had considered other Homes but Alexandra Court was way ahead of others. It is welcoming inside presenting itself as warm and friendly with thoughtful decoration throughout. When you visit any hospitality venue, the place is only as good as the staff who work in it. The staff are friendly to all family members and provide the care for Mum in a way we couldn’t. It took time for all of us to adapt but the staff listened to our concerns on how to deal with mum and what is needed for her care going forward and adapted superbly. They’ve kept Mum safe throughout the COVID period which will have been challenging and this has to be applauded.

Mum went into the care home over 2 years ago and everyone has looked after her so well in there. She’s very happy and enjoys the meals they cook for her. She now struggles to walk and her memory is very poor but they are very patient with her and nothing is too much trouble. All the staff there are
really friendly when I go to visit her and I can’t praise them enough for their care. I would recommend it to anyone needing care and having their own apartments is great because mum feels like it’s her home and she has personal things we brought from her house to make it feel like it’s her own home.

It was a very hard decision to place mum in a care home, however, the manager and his brilliant caring team made my mum's life better for her, they are all professionals and extremely caring people. We are delighted with how mum is looked after.

Alexandra Court is one of the nicest care homes I have come across. The Team give a warm and welcoming atmosphere to the home. All of the staff are always friendly, upbeat, cheerful, helpful and very professional in their approach to the care they give.
My parents became residents over three years
ago. The home includes couples accommodation so they can reside comfortably together.
Mum was more poorly than first thought and during her 6-7 months there, staff could not do enough, and the care and loving kindness she received was excellent and I could not have asked for more.
Dad has remained a resident and enjoys the attention he receives. He feels he’s at home as the apartments are homely and personal just as at home. The staff are attentive and have way gone beyond what might be considered to be normal care in assisting and getting him to or ready for family events such as weddings. This is carried through for residents celebrating birthdays and anniversaries with parties. Thank you.

I stayed at Alexandra Court for two weeks after leaving hospital. I did not need any care, I went there to have a good rest and to recover from my operation. I thought the residents were looked after extremely well and that they felt happy and safe to be there.

My mother lived at Alexandra Court for more than three years. She was understandably reluctant to move into a care home but the patient support from the staff eventually helped her to settle in and in the last year of her life she thanked us for finding her such a lovely place to live. I am certain
that the care she received together with the company of other residents and the kindness shown by staff extended not only the length but also the quality of her life.

My father had the pleasure of living at Alexandra Court over the last 6 months. He passed away recently at the home and the care he received was second to none. Everything about the home is just superb and I would highly recommend to anyone. The staff are exceptional.

I found Alexandra Court very welcoming at a stressful time for my friend. The staff were very kind and helpful. It was Christmas week and we needed a safe place for my friend who couldn't be left alone due to her confused state. The manager is such a kind person and is very down to earth, he immediately
put her at ease which was good for a 90 year old. I was invited to join my friend for lunch a couple of times and found the food was well cooked and well presented.

I think Alexandra Court must be one of the world’s nicest care homes. The manager and his team have achieved such a warm, welcoming atmosphere: they are always friendly, upbeat, cheerful and keen to help and very professional too. It doesn’t look like a care home - more like a comfy hotel. It’s clean,
fresh and (whisper it!) it doesn’t smell like a care home either. My mum has been here for a month for respite care and everything has been taken care of with a friendly smile from hospital visits to laundry, nursing care and even a birthday party. Mum was able to celebrate her birthday with a tea party in the conservatory, including a fab homemade cake whisked up by the chef. Whenever I visit I’m struck by this kind of attention to detail and the fact that the culture of caring is shared by every single member of staff. There aren’t just one or two stand-out individuals here - the whole team work together to create this very special environment.

We have visited an elderly friend of ours a number of times now. She is in for short-term nursing care after breaking a bone in her foot. Although we have been impressed by the buildings, the accommodation etc., the outstanding element of the Alexandra Court is the staff. Every member of staff we have
met, in a variety of capacities, have been mainly young, very enthusiastic, polite, helpful, cheerful and most of all they care about each individual resident.

My mum was poorly and required extra care and was very reluctant to leave her home. She was welcomed and settled in at Alexandra Court by the lovely caring staff and very quickly felt at home. Her apartment was lovely, very homely and spacious, but she really enjoyed the company and being included in
the many activities in the lounge and conservatory etc. She thoroughly enjoyed her stay and I had peace of mind knowing she was happy and well cared for.

My nanna is a resident at Alexandra Court and is very well looked after by all the staff. I am very pleased with all the care my nanna receives.
The staff could not do enough for my nanna giving me peace of mind she is happy, safe and well loved by everyone.
The apartments are out of this world. You
can make them your own as my nanna has done the home as they also said we can paint if we would like to add that extra homely feel. Brand new carpets have just been fitted throughout the apartment and a lovely new wet room.
The food is fantastic and the home allowed me to have lunch with my nanna on several occasions not expecting payment.

From the very first visit to Alexandra Court I was struck by the welcoming and homely feel. The flexibility at the time of moving in (and departure) was a great help and allowed Mum to acclimatise with familiar things around her. The care and patience exhibited by all the team was outstanding. Dementia
can be confusing to all and they dealt with it very well. The daily entertainment and activities programme was excellent, engaging Mum more than I had seen in a long time. I cannot speak highly enough for the whole team and the individuals charged with Mum's personal care - 5 star service.

My mum was at Alexandra Court for approximately 1 year. I wish she had been there sooner as the care and loving kindness she received was excellent. I feel she would have benefited from the support and interaction had she stayed there earlier. The staff are excellent in their patience and kindness,
I always left after my visiting her knowing she was safe and had all she needed. Her face lit up at the sight of any and all of the staff. I couldn't have asked for more. Thank you so very much.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.526)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.526) out of 10 for Alexandra Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.626 for Alexandra Court is calculated as follows: ( (69 Excellents x 5) + (36 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.626

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Alexandra Court is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 37 registered maximum number of service users is 7.4, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
