I have found every one of the staff have been brilliant and could not do enough for anyone. I am enjoying my stay here the food is brilliant except for the cheese which I have never liked. I can recommend Alexandra Court to anyone who needs care.

Dad has been a resident at Alexandra for over seven years and has always been looked after with care and dignity. He recently celebrated his 90th birthday and we arranged, with the help of the staff, a small party. They provided a lovely buffet, decorations in the conservatory and made a birthday cake.
Nothing was too much trouble on the day and made it a very enjoyable event. My sister, brother and I would like to say a big 'thank you ' to all the staff at Alexandra.

This care home has to be one of the very best in the country. We (as a family) feel so fortunate that we found this place for our dad, who was newly bereaved when he first came here (December 2013).
The accommodation is first class, the staff here are exceptional. They are so kind and caring.
This
home should win multiple awards!
The food is really good and we are very confident that dad is getting the best possible care here.
Also, the activities are varied and interesting for the residents, the organiser of these is fabulous.

My mum in law has just had a respite stay with you. I cannot fault the care and compassion shown to her whilst she was with you. She was very well cared for and was able to spend as little or as much time in her own apartment. Residents can choose to dine with other residents in the dining room or
dine in their own apartment, where their meals are brought to them. There is an array of activities which residents can choose to partake in or not as well as weekly visits from a hairdresser. Would highly recommend if you have relatives living in the area requiring care - nothing is too much trouble.

The staff at this care home really care. They are in and out of the resident's rooms and a chatty and friendly. They take the time to stop and chat and it is plainly obvious they are in the right job. I don't worry about mum being there as I know if there is anything wrong with her it will be addressed
straight away. Only negative things the sink in her bathroom is too high for her as she is very bent over. Hardly ever see the manager either me or mum.

Mum has been with Alexandra Court for 5 years now. It is wonderful, she has her own apartment with the addition of a wonderful care team. Mum doesn't often involve herself in the activities but I see they are excellent. Food is outstanding. I stayed for lunch last week, I was well looked after and enjoyed
my salmon steak greatly. More like a hotel than a care home but with the greatest care given to my mum.

I have been a resident since early May 2016, initially for respite care but now as a resident. I could not bear to leave as I have been so well looked after and made some nice friends.

My mother has been a resident at this care home for the last three years. During that time her physical and mental health has deteriorated. The staff provide wonderful care, they are always extremely caring, react well with all residents and have provided consistent and good humoured care at all times.
When one hears such awful horror stories about care homes, it is necessary to publicise the food stories and this home provides the positive side of the picture. The home is smart, clean and happy and the residents express their satisfaction as well as acknowledge how lucky they are.

Mum stayed on respite. Standards are so high. Staff treated her with the greatest dignity. Her independence was encouraged whilst she was in the home. She didn't want to go home. She said the staff were very kind and made fer feel so at ease.

Warm welcoming feel to the home. Saw several staff interacting with residents on a 1:1 basis. Apartment clean, fresh and modern furniture but no drawers - shelves en-suite to put toiletries and sanitary items - this was mentioned and will be addressed soon (recent switch to shower room from bathroom).
Apartment
layout is good and adequate. I was told food is good. Shocked to hear that a resident was moved to another apartment whilst work on new en-suite was carried out but the apartment wasn't cleared of previous resident's clothes/shoes etc.

Lovely atmosphere on entering. The staff have an excellent relationship with both families and residents. Always willing to chat about your resident. Staff always warm and welcoming nothing too much to ask for. Meals can be adapted to personal needs. Rooms are warm, clean and tastefully decorated, residents
can bring in their own furniture.

Had a good laugh with everyone. Staff are lovely very good to talk to. Very comfortable. I am able to sit in my room for peace and quiet or sit and take part in the activities if I want to. I was always given a choice, I was well looked after. Room is perfect much more than that to have an apartment
is so nice, like home from home. Everything I could wish for.

Mum has lived at Alexandra Court for six years, she is very settled in her own apartment within the care home. The staff are all friendly and efficient. Being in an apartment mum has been able to have a lot of her own belongings around her and this has helped a lot with her change in life.

Homely and friendly. Lovely apartments, warm and cosy. Very caring and understanding staff. Due to circumstances my aunt regretfully had to leave as her needs had changed but her time there was enjoyed and satisfied for the duration. A happy home!

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.526)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.526) out of 10 for Alexandra Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.626 for Alexandra Court is calculated as follows: ( (69 Excellents x 5) + (36 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.626

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Alexandra Court is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 37 registered maximum number of service users is 7.4, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
