The Brambles Care Home is pleasantly situated in the village of New Longton, four miles from Preston city centre. The Home is surrounded by one and half acres of gardens mainly laid to lawn.

The home has many open services and activities available for the residents if they desire to take part, these include, a Chiropodist, Dentist, District Nurses, Hairdressers, a Library, arts and crafts, chair based exercises by a qualified instructor and Church services.

The activities in the home consist of dominoes, bingo, keeping fit, dancing, card games, and concerts. A Garden party is also arranged in the summer and a Christmas fair in December each year.

The Brambles employ fully trained staff who dedicate their time and effort to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable when either staying at the home or visiting friends and family. All residents are assured that they will be treated with respect and dignity according to their individual needs and wishes.

The Brambles is a first-class rest home with both management and workers who are some of the nicest people that I have met. My partner has Alzheimer's and around the carers, she feels comfortable and safe.

My mum came home today saying she had enjoyed her stay at The Brambles and had been looked after well. She made friends with the other residents and staff. Good food, her room was lovely and she enjoyed the activities.

My Aunt has been a resident of The Brambles for 3 months and has settled in extremely well, following a 3-week trial. It's a small home where the staff are extremely helpful and considerate. She now thinks of the Brambles as her home and regards the staff and other residents, as friends. She loves the
food which is amazing - she is diabetic and hasn't until now really got pleasure out of eating! I am always welcomed as a visitor. Nothing is too much trouble and the staff have really got to know her. Covid restrictions are in place but to ensure that both the residents and staff are protected. These do change from time to time but for all the right reasons. It's in a great location, with wonderful views of the countryside across the very large gardens but is close to local shops in the village of New Longton. I'm able to take my Aunt to the local Methodist Chapel and Stickyweeds Cafe, both a short walk away. Based upon the experience with my Aunt, I'd definitely recommend The Brambles.

Staff are happy to communicate when it is beneficial to them but I am still waiting for a reply from several weeks ago. While we know Covid has caused issues, demanding that family book pre-arranged times to visit is not always suitable for busy families - it is not always family-friendly.

Mum is very happy in the home although I would prefer her to be at home obviously. She is very well cared for and enjoys the company and the attention. The food is good and well presented. We are happy that she is safe and is clean and comfortable. Nothing is too much trouble for the carers and all

The Brambles is a lovely place. The staff are great, well mannered. They look after my sister. The best care she could have got, she knew how well she was looked after. My sister had been in two other care homes and the last few days of her life she knew how well they looked after her.

My mum spent approximately 9 months in The Brambles Rest Home before she passed away and was always well looked after.The home is clean and pleasant and the staff always seemed caring. Communication from the manager was always excellent, keeping me informed of how my mum was doing as and when necessary.

My mum, 87 years old, needed 24-hour respite/nursing care following bowel cancer surgery in January 2018. She was very ill and frail following hospital discharge but the care she received at The Brambles was dedicated, compassionate, professional and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble.


I am

very grateful to the manager and all the staff for looking after my mum. The manager knew when my mum needed extra District Nurse visits and GP call-out and it was immediately arranged. Mum's room was spotless, warm and very comfortable.
My mum is continuing to make a good recovery but she says it would not have happened but for the high level of care she received at The Brambles.

The care provided to my mother was very good, any problems got sorted out quickly the staff, in general, acted in a professional manner.
The food was good and varied so I would recommend the Brambles.
The downside to this experience was recovering monies owed back to us after five phone calls and
a letter of intent I have still not received payment after almost 3 months. This leaves a sour taste after the previous pleasant experience especially when you are dealing with a bereavement.

My mother, who was in her 90's, was a resident for 2/3 years. Being rather quiet and independent she preferred going to her room rather than "joining in" so having her own space was ideal. She also received newspapers which were delivered by the local newsagent.
Since she developed Alzheimer's she
tended to forget things and the manager used to tell us she often enjoyed more than one breakfast - having forgotten she'd already eaten two or three.
We were sad when she suddenly went downhill before Xmas but had no hesitation in requesting that she remained at the Brambles.
We felt quite certain that spending her final days there was preferable to a hospital ward.
She was given excellent attention by staff during End of Life, and then Palliative Care.
The manager supported us all the way through the process, and the local GP and district nurse were frequent visitors to my mother.
We are grateful to all. Even the cleaning lady cheered us daily.

My mother who is 97, has been a resident for 15 months. She was very poorly on admission but with prompt attention by the manager and GP's she regained her former health and was able to join other residents in the lounge and for meals.
She is always treated with dignity and is clean and well dressed.
The staff are always attentive to her needs and are very kind and caring.
There are a few activities at the home and I know the home is trying to rectify this and have more permanent activities in place.
But I do notice the difference in residents when their minds are stimulated with song and crafts etc.

The home is well run and we are confident that mother is safe and well cared for. Staff are well motivated and friendly and well aware of the needs of residents. The building is well maintained and welcoming.
Contact with local GP's is good. Necessary treatment happens very quickly compared to trying
to get a visit at home.
We have been promptly contacted about important issues - usually with steps already taken to resolve them, all of which have worked.

Deborah has been a Cook now for 10 years. She works at both The Brambles and Coote Lane Residential Homes. She has worked in several care homes in her 10 years experience and has a vast knowledge of different service users' dietary needs e.g diabetes, low salt, low or high protein. She fortifies diets with cream and extra calories for those who are not eating as well as they could and has knowledge of dysphagia using the appropriate level of pureed diet and thickened fluids for the service users needs. She is a traditional cook, making home-cooked food, there is always 2 choices for both lunch and dinner and home-baked cakes or fresh fruit in the afternoon.
