My grandma went to Brierfield House at the end of February, the manager was absolutely amazing, she was very reassuring of the care and treatment my grandma was going to receive. The staff are amazing too, one in particular, my grandma loves her, she always goes on about her and how much she trusts
her, as a visitor to my grandma, she is amazing to not only the residents but visitors too.
I'm so happy my grandma is with Brierfield house. They doing amazing.

Wonderful, caring environment.
I know my mum, who suffered from dementia, felt very happy there.
The staff were just so fantastic, and I do mean all of them - manager, carer, cook, maintenance; they all made me feel like my mum was part of a family up there.

Our mum came into the home in December 2022 and my sister and me didn’t know how she would cope but the manager and the other members of staff are very good with her. She has dementia and can sometimes get upset because she has forgotten something, she has put on weight and is loving being there, the
meals are home-cooked and always smell delicious. We can help ourselves to brews when we want them. The home is very clean and smells clean, the rooms are tidied and floors mopped every day. I’m so glad we choose Brierfield House Care Home for our mum we can now relax knowing she is being looked after, if there’s a problem or Mum's not well they let me know straight away. Five stars from us.

My mother has improved immensely since moving into the home in August. She has put on weight and she is interested in her personal hygiene. When she first went in she wasn't interested in cleanliness due to her depression. She has her hair done every couple of weeks. The staff are lovely and very frank.
The visits are only 30mins long, which is plenty and when you go, you know that's the allocated time. If there was a criticism, I think if they offered you a brew, that would be good. As sometimes you've been running around and just could do with one. They did offer us one on the very first visit. I understand they are busy, but this would make a big difference to the visit, like having a natter over a cuppa.

My mother-in-law came into this home for respite care after a brief spell in hospital. The first thing I noticed, was the smell of home-cooked food and the home smelt very nice. I was a bit worried about this move, but the manager and deputy manager, both reassured me she will be well looked after.
She has been in for two weeks now and I can already see a big improvement in her. She is now smiling and putting on weight. In my mother-in-law's words, the room here is brilliant. Five stars all the way. I feel this is a happy home. Keep up the good work to all the staff.

As a family, we are absolutely delighted by the care Mum received during her recent stay. She absolutely loved it, enjoying the many activities, meeting new friends and telling the staff how nosey, cheeky and lippy she is! It was very reassuring to know she was being well looked after! The manager and
her staff are brilliant, answering all our questions and letting us visit prior to her stay. As a family, we really cannot praise them enough! Not only that, but the home is absolutely spotless and all the residents are happy and relaxed! Just brilliant! Mum's a very picky eater too, but said she really enjoyed all the food and snacks!

My sister has been here approx eleven weeks. We cannot believe the difference in her. She says the food, staff and management are really kind and helpful. Her room is really clean and she loves her view. The family is so pleased and happy with how she has settled. Good to know that she is safe and well
cared for. We leave her and are very confident she will be safe, happy and secure.

My mother came to Brierfield House in February 2022. In three weeks, myself and my family have seen a huge improvement in her appearance, her physical and mental state. The manager and her staff are excellent. They have time and understanding for the residents. It has been such a relief for myself and
my family. Thank you.

The Staff have been very supportive to me and grandma while residing at Brierfield House, when speaking to grandma she was very happy and content, always engaging in activities which were evidenced through Brierfield House's Facebook Page, Grandma's room had her own private en-suite.

My sister has been in the care home for around five years, the care has always been good and the staff are very caring. In the last year, it has been very difficult as we haven't been able to visit with the complete lockdown, but when we did all the covid PPE was there for all our protection. There
seems to be a lot of painting and decorating going on since the new owner took it on. I would highly recommend this home it is a happy home and residents are looked after well.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.891)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.891) out of 10 for Brierfield House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.796 for Brierfield House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (46 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 54 Ratings = 4.796

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.095 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brierfield House Care Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.4 = 0.595

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
