Anchor's Eric Morecambe House is a purpose-built home supporting up to 34 older people to live a comfortable lifestyle. The home offers residential care and care for older people living with dementia. It is located in a residential area of Morecambe within a mile of the seafront.

The home is proud to be able to provide tailored care for veterans having achieved Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) accreditation.

Anchor is England’s largest provider of housing and care for those over 55 years of age and has 60 years of experience as a not-for-profit provider of services to older people. Anchor reinvests the money made into their retirement properties and care homes to continually raise standards to provide a high-quality service to surpass the customer’s expectations.

Eric Morecambe House continues to welcome new residents and provides a range of residential care services, such as convalescence care, respite care, and long term care for those who can no longer look after themselves.

People living at Eric Morecambe House can participate in a variety of activities in the home and local community. Their needs and wishes are regularly assessed to ensure their lifestyle requirements are being met through their personal care plans.

Meals at the home are freshly cooked by highly trained kitchen staff, with locally sourced and seasonal produce used where possible.

After one month Mum has settled into her new accommodation and says it "feels like home". From the very first day the management, care staff, maintenance and dining crew have gone out of their way to make Mum's room attractive and comfortable and to learn Mum's likes and dislikes. Endlessly kind and
patient, all carers respond quickly and affectionately. Similarly, management address questions or concerns immediately.
Just couldn't be happier with the quality of care, cleanliness, safety and food which is all homemade, well presented and delicious! Excellent value for money.
Lastly, I feel extremely happy about Mum being here since I live far away.

My mother was a resident from July 2014 until she passed away on 16th February 2018. She received excellent care - the home is clean, safe and all the staff are very well trained. I visited at all hours, always welcomed, staff and management knew us well. Mother was tended with love and dignity in her
final days, the staff could not have done more.

I am certainly happy to have chosen Eric Morecambe House and could not have found any better care home. The facilities here are excellent. The staff are pleasant and helpful at all times even when rushed off their feet and challenged by the behaviour of unreasonable patients.

I have been happily living here for six years and have received excellent care. I like the informal atmosphere. Regarding activities, there are plenty arranged for us if you wish to attend. I usually enjoy watching things I fancy on my own TV in my flat or playing my piano. The food is good with considerable
choice. Medical care is well organised and is there immediately in an emergency. There is a pleasant patio with trees, flowering plants and birds, big enough to walk around or just sit and relax. Visitors are made welcome.

As a regular visitor, I have been impressed by the dedication and friendliness of the staff, to both residents and other visitors. The home has a cared for, light and clean appearance and nothing is too much trouble for the staff in whatever area they are employed.

I find conditions quite good. Any help needed is quickly provided.


Food is good and enjoyable.

From my mother's initial assessment prior to being admitted to the Eric Morecambe House, everyone has tried their level best to accommodate Mum's needs up to today's date.
There have been several little incidents, like lost teeth, glasses, hearing aids but staff always try to help.
When Mum had a
fall I was informed straight away.
When in the first weeks Mum refused showers and baths, the staff continued to encourage her and they finally won.
The food always looks good and the laundry service is wonderful.
As a visitor, I'm always made welcome and offered a drink.

Eric Morecambe House is a lovely care home.
The home is spotlessly clean.
The staff are always friendly and helpful.
When I leave my relative after visiting I am confident that they are being well supported and cared for.
My relative is always keen to tell me it is a good place with plenty to eat
and that they are kept clean and looked after.

Mum was accepted here with dementia and as a zimmer frame/wheelchair user. Within 6 months she was served an eviction notice as they couldn't cope with her 'wandering' (zimmer frame, snail pace) and 'aggression'. Aggressive behaviour was mild and part of dementia 'Sundowning'. I find it hard to understand
why this home class themselves as Dementia Specialists. Although the house itself is ok, I have rated the value for money as 'poor' simply because they are posing as dementia specialists, which they are definitely not, as once advanced symptoms appear, they evict the 'problem'.

The review relates to events of August 2016. Anchor did not receive a complaint relating to these events at the time. The person living with dementia was displaying increasing levels of distressed behaviour which were causing distress to other residents living in the home. An independent assessment was carried out by the local nursing and mental health team, which concluded that the person’s dementia care needs, could not effectively be met at Eric Morecambe House. The person therefore moved to a placement identified as more appropriate to meet her needs.
