Having not had calls returned from other facilities as my mother urgently needed residential care due to dementia, I door-stepped Fernbank unannounced. The manager was away, but the staff knew what was going on, and encouraged me to have a look around and also advised me to look at other homes before
making a decision. There was something about Fernbank that I knew Mum would be okay there, and I was comforted by the manner and competence of the staff. Within a week of enquiring, Mum had moved in. Initially not comfortable with her new surroundings as they weren’t familiar to her, but within a couple of weeks, she’s settled right in, and her demeanour has massively improved to perhaps how she was a year previously. The daily activities help her cognitive abilities, and being with others has improved her conversation abilities too. She now thanks me and says it was the best thing I could have done. She loves it and doesn’t like going out for lunch as enjoys the Fernbank meals too much.

My mum recently became a resident at Fernbank at very short notice. The manager and all the staff have been excellent at helping my mum to adjust to her new environment. Both my brother and I are extremely happy with the care and support that Mum receives. All the staff are very helpful, friendly and
approachable. The house itself is very clean and tidy. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home.

I am so pleased I chose Fernbank Lodge for my wife's future care and wellbeing. I have full confidence in all the staff and management, their love and care of all of their patients must be second to none. I am always kept up to date and consulted regarding any decisions that may arise concerning my
wife's welfare, indeed I am often invited to partake in that decision-making.
Fernbank Lodge is always found to be scrupulously clean and tidy, the staff both willing and polite in answering any questions that I might ask. I am very happy with Fernbank Lodge.

Overall, we have been very happy for my mother to be resident here; the staff are lovely, and although my mother can be quite frustrating to deal with, they always treat her with patience, kindness and respect. The activities they provide along with TV tend to keep everyone occupied, and there are also
trips out in the minibus a couple of times per week. The food is of good quality and varied, so much so that my mother has put on weight during her stay. The home is well furnished, warm and clean, and the staff are always friendly and open to answering questions and chatting. I would recommend this home to people and families who are looking for care for a loved one.

The home is very clean, and all the staff and the manager are exceptional, always welcoming and approachable. Daily activities are arranged for residents, and the food is excellent, along with the care received. Overall, extremely happy!
