I came in here a very poorly lady and the home and ladies that work here have brought me back to life and the person I was 2 years ago. I would recommend the home to anyone.

A family friend has been a resident at The Gables for 8 years now and is aged 103 years. She has always been treated with the greatest respect and care. All the staff are consistently friendly and most having been there a long time.
Only negative observation is the old building is not really suitable
for a care home.

My mother has been at The Gables for nearly two years now and she is always treated with dignity and the care she receives is brilliant. It is a homely environment.

Due to building constraints, some lounge seating allocations are in a busy thoroughfare used by staff, residents, and visitors. Here visiting residents can be a cramped arrangement and personal conversations can be difficult. When Mum moved into a larger room the increase in fees seemed out of proportion.
I found the staff to be friendly and informative, and very quick to be in touch when a GP visit, or appointment, was needed. When Mum's care needs increased and it was necessary to re-locate her I was concerned to be handed three unopened letters for her, two of which were almost a month old. I was disappointed, too, with the level of activity and engagement opportunities in the six months that she was resident at The Gables, as something is needed on at least a weekly basis. Meals seemed to be nutritious and adequate, and with flexible choices available to residents if, for example, a sandwich or baked potato was preferred to a dinner-style meal.
