High Wray residential care home is an independent family run home in the heart of clieves hill countryside, Aughton. The home aims to provide a welcoming, friendly and homely environment, with multiple communal and outdoor spaces.

The home has been extensively renovated since ownership was taken in 2008, with the most recent renovations completing in 2022.
The main house is full of character with many original features and a grade 2 listed large lounge area. A lift is available for all residents to access all areas of the home. The main house has 19 bedrooms, 1 being a large 1st floor suite with kitchenette and 180 degree views.
At the Rear of the home there are 2 purpose built wings, proving 20 private garden room. 2 of which are large garden suites with kitchenette facilities. The garden rooms provide French door access onto private garden spaces, for the sole use of occupied residents. The home encourages all families to furnish both inside and outside spaces to provide a true home from home feel.

Each of the 43 rooms are tastefully decorated and furnished to a high standard, many with bespoke built in furniture.
All rooms have a BT phone point, WiFi, TV and nurse call bell system.

Delicious meals are chosen daily and enjoyed in own room or the dining room, which leads out onto a large secure patio area. Outdoor dining is also encouraged in summer months.
Daily activities are encouraged and a monthly calendar is shared with all residents.
Residents choice and wellbeing is paramount and the team encourage resident participation when planning activities and daily menus.

The home provides a range of inclusive facilities such as laundry, daily activities and therapy. Services such as hairdressing, chiropody, dentistry and physiotherapy are also available at an extra cost.

My mum moved into High Wray in January, having always sworn that she would never go into a home. However, she knew I had found her a good place as my mother-in-law moved in in October!
We looked at many different homes and none of them compared favourably with High Wray. The surroundings are beautiful,
both inside and out, and all the rooms are lovely but my mum was thrilled with hers as she has a lovely view. The place is kept extremely clean and all the staff are lovely - not just pleasant but helpful and accommodating. There have been little niggles, which are inevitable, but they have all been dealt with to the best of their ability. The attitude of the management is that they want to know if something is wrong because if they don’t know, they can’t do anything about it. I think this is excellent.
I could go on but I think you get the gist. Suffice it to say that this is where my husband and I want to live when our time comes!

After visiting many care homes High Wray was recommended to us by a colleague of my daughter-in-law who is a nurse. As I was shown around I knew this was the one, I got quite emotional knowing that my mum would be happy here.
Since moving in my mum has settled in very well making new friends with other
residents and also the staff. The care and support she receives are amazing, she loves her room and enjoys the delicious food, also she looks forward to all the activities especially getting her hair and nails done every week. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend High Wray to anyone who is looking at care homes.

I was naturally worried when my loved one needed to go into care but the team at High Wray have been incredible. So compassionate, understanding and caring which made the whole experience much less daunting. The care has been amazing and I can’t praise them enough.

Thankfully a friend who had worked at High Wray previously, advised my wife and I to visit when we were assessing care homes for my elderly father. We were relieved and totally grateful to her for recommending High Wray. Previous care homes I had visited did not come anywhere near the standard set by
High Wray. The rooms are spacious and the outlook from my father’s room on the 3rd floor is a tonic itself. Looking out over the beautiful countryside from two large windows to admire the view.
The management and staff are excellent, nothing is too much trouble. The care that is being provided for my father is first-class. My father has commented on many occasions how he thoroughly enjoys the meals provided. There are many activities to take part in, and the management and staff again organise many special events, such as the charity coffee afternoon which was a great success. Next week we look forward to the Christmas Carol Concert providing great cheer for all.

We have been nothing but impressed by the standard of care and support Mum is receiving at High Wray. All the staff are hard-working, reliable and nothing is too much trouble for them. The property is set in lovely grounds, it is spacious and very well-maintained. Mum’s room has wonderful views over
the countryside and has clearly been designed to provide a peaceful and safe place for her to relax. We would have no hesitation in recommending High Wray to friends and family.

All year round the people at High Wray are wonderful. They are so considerate of the resident's needs and the relative's needs.
Nothing is too much of a problem for them. The rooms are lovely very clean and the food is very well thought out and made.

I would highly recommend it as the staff and facilities are making my mum's stay very pleasant and welcoming.
The rooms are big and comfortable being able to have her own items from home to make it more relaxed is a bonus.
Again can only recommend from our personal view but have no issues at all.

My mum has moved into High Wray, for a temporary (at least at first) period following a fall and stay in hospital. Her room is modern and spacious with lovely large windows and a nice view. She is extremely happy with the food. The whole home is clean and with lovely decor. The lounge near her room
is beautifully furnished and has a large picture window with fantastic views over towards the local town/city. The other lounge is wood-panelled and is a very relaxing place to sit. Singers have come in regularly to entertain. Care staff are all very attentive and see to all her needs in terms of washing, helping her to walk, and regular drinks. All those in the office have been equally helpful.

I have been nothing but impressed since Mum became a resident at High Wray.
She was previously a resident in a care home elsewhere, at which she became increasingly unhappy. Having now viewed other establishments, I believe that the care, facilities, catering and general conditions in High Wray are
second to none.
Mum's general demeanour has improved immensely since her arrival, which provides both comfort and reassurance.

My dad spent two months at High Wray for respite care. Thanks to the kind, professional staff and lovely calm environment, he settled quickly and was almost sorry to leave and return home! The food was excellent (he was spoilt for choice), and he particularly enjoyed the weekly singalong sessions. His
room was spacious with lovely views, and all the facilities and support he needed. We could visit any time during the day, and were always warmly welcomed by the staff and the amazing and informative management team.

High Wray has the appearance of a 5-star hotel rather than a care home. It is warm, beautifully furnished and my mum's room is huge with her own large bathroom and doors onto a small garden area. Food is delicious (Mum's words). Mum has been in High Wray for just over 4 weeks after 8 weeks in the hospital
where she was slouched in a chair all day and not walking/progressing. High Wray has spent a lot of time helping her to become mobile again and make sure she is moving towards independence again. I am amazed at the transformation in such a short time. She has her hair done once a week and even her nails painted. Mum now has a future to look forward to and is motivated to improve. All the staff are so helpful, friendly and caring. I went to see a lot of care homes before visiting High Wray and none came anywhere close to the standard here (even the other care homes were recommending High Wray if they didn't have places available which was a good sign for us).

My father was cared for in High Wray for the last few months of his life having decided that he was no longer managing at home. The entire admission process was professional, caring and personal and he was made to feel welcome and quickly adapted to his new home. The staff are an amazing team of friendly,
well trained and caring people and they have time and patience to ensure that each resident is comfortable, happy and safe. Dad was very impressed with the food and he found that he could socialise in the communal areas and join in with activities when he felt well enough but also had the privacy of his own room. The standard of accommodation is excellent. When my dad sadly passed away due to deteriorating long term health issues he was treated with dignity and respect and again I was so grateful to the staff. I would not hesitate to recommend High Wray and the team of carers and feel very privileged to have known them.

Dad’s first contact with High Wray was two weeks respite care. He was so impressed, when he could no longer live independently, he had no hesitation in becoming a permanent resident. The home is very well managed with an extremely high standard of cleanliness and comfort. His room is spacious, furnished
to a high standard with fabulous views to the coast. I value the way the staff pay attention to treating him as an individual, he can opt to eat in his room or join residents in the dining room, his wishes regarding food/portion size/likes/dislikes are respected, he can join organized activities or he can choose to have a quiet day in his room. Dad adores the staff who I have found to be professional, welcoming and cheerful. He is happy and feels safe and secure.
The Home has effective contacts with the community nurses and GP surgeries so that health concerns are dealt with promptly.
I am so pleased that Dad is spending his final years in an outstanding home-from-home environment.

Mum was admitted as an emergency after having a number of falls, on her arrival staff made her feel very welcome. Since then they have made her feel at home comfortable and safe. Staff are very professional and caring making sure she is comfortable. She has her own private space with lovely views and
spends time enjoying the communal space with the excellent array of entertainment and activities. It has also brought peace of mind to her family.

I am very happy with the level of care my mum is receiving. High Wray are doing all they can to help her. They take a very pro-active approach in assisting with her needs. Their level of communication is very good, and they are very much working with us to help my mum. Occasionally Mum's clothing goes
missing, or she ends up with someone else’s clothes. I have ensured that all labels where possible have her name on. High Wray is a safe and caring and spotlessly clean environment for my mum.

My Mum moved into High Wray in July 2022 after living independently but had been seriously ill in hospital for over 2 months. We knew that she wouldn't be able to return home and looked around everywhere to find a home Mum could live in and be cared for and I could have assurance there is 24 hour care
for her. To be honest there was only one option and it was High Wray.
The management at High Wray encourages you to make the resident's room personal and make it feel like home from home. The rooms are spacious and the new wing is so bright and some rooms have amazing views allowing residents to watch wildlife roam across the fields along with the pheasants, birds and squirrels.
The kitchen manager listens to residents' preferences and tries hard to accommodate and offer a high standard of fresh food. All staff from management, seniors, carers, cleaners and kitchen staff are welcoming and caring. High Wray gets 5 Stars for exceptional care and ensuring my mum is safe and secure always

Can’t say enough about how good this care home is, very supportive and just really excellent care. Staff are all helpful and friendly and nothing is ever too much trouble for them.
Mum has been here for over 3 months and she has some mental health issues that the team at High Wray have worked hard
to help with. So glad she is there.

My grandad moved to High Wray in 2021 after enjoying his short stay, a holiday he used to call it as he always said it was like a hotel. Grandad loved living at High Wray, making friends with the staff and other people who became a part of his family. The care both my grandad and us as a family received
from High Wray was exceptional. The care was delivered in such a professional and compassionate manner, but the staff and management also shared jokes which brightened up the days. The activities are fantastic, always something to join in but if grandad declined then this was respected. High Wray is so clean, you always see cleaners and it does not smell. Grandad always looked smart and shaven, I was always happy when I went to see him. If you’re looking for a care home you should visit High Wray before making a decision! Best home I’ve ever been to, nothing too much trouble and the people who live there are given a choice and have what they want. The garden room was perfect for grandad.

After an accident my 97-year-old Mum could not live independently any more so we looked at moving her to a care home. We looked at various options and decided that High Wray seemed the best option so she moved in June 2022. We could not have been happier with our decision. High Wray has provided Mum
with a home-from-home. The quality of the accommodation is outstanding and is kept spotlessly clean at all times. The management and staff are all professional and courteous and yet manage to also create a friendly atmosphere and make both residents and family visitors feel part of the High Wray family.
Mum declined in January 2023 and was designated as 'end of life' and spent the next 7 weeks in bed. Everyone working at High Wray gave her the best possible care, treating her and the family with dignity and compassion. When she finally passed away in March 2023 we felt that the last months of her long life were spent in the best possible place. Thank you High Wray for providing outstanding care.
