Mum was bought into Lumb Valley Nov 2017, management were very helpful and talked to us about the home. I bought mum here where she has settled in very well. She has made friends here and the staff are very friendly. They have lovely meals and activities on plus film days and mum loves it. She even
wanted to go 'home' when I took her to my home for Christmas, so we're very happy to know that she is settled.

The care home staff are always welcoming, courteous and professional. I am completely satisfied that my mother needs have been met. Initially, it was difficult for her but now she's settled in and regards this as home. I am always regularly kept informed as to her condition and feel confident I can
always leave her in their care.

If I had to go into a care home I would want it to be like Lumb Valley, where everyone is treated with great care and dignity. Could not ask for more.

My mum has been in Lumb Valley for nearly 4 years. She is treated with care and dignity but most of all, love and affection. The home is a family friendly place and everyone, both residents and family are treated as family. I would not want my mum to be anywhere else.

Mum moved into Lumb Valley a couple of months ago, from another care home. She had previously been very unsettled and unhappy, so I was pleasantly surprised to see the difference in her at Lumb Valley. She has advanced Alzheimers, but is still able to convey an opinion and feelings. She has told me
on several occasions how much she loves it at Lumb Valley.

The staff are wonderful, warm and welcoming, and so caring to all the residents. I couldn't rate it higher and have already recommended Lumb Valley to a friend. Last but not least, the meals are wonderful too, proper home cooking and mum has gained weight since her arrival.

Staff are very friendly and caring, mum loves living at Lumb Valley and that is the most important thing. It's home from home and has a real relaxed family atmosphere. Mum always comments on how lovely the food is, and the choices she is always given. Nothing is too much trouble.

My mum is well cared for by the staff at Lumb Valley Care Home and has settled in really well, which I was really worried about. I am still able to be involved with mums care, and if I have concerns regarding mums well being the manager and staff always have time to speak with me and explain any changes
needed to ensure she receives the level of care needed.

Lumb Valley has been a very welcoming and friendly home where my mother-in-law has settled in and seems very happy now. It is an exceptional home, extremely clean and tidy. You could not ask for any more and we feel we are extremely lucky to have got my mother-in-law in there.
The staff are so friendly
and nothing is too much trouble. We would recommend Lumb Valley to anyone.

A bed was help for quite a while for mum who was in hospital. The home helped me battle to get her out of hospital. Without this help and support I don't think I could have managed. Upon arrival mum improved dramatically, she was surrounded by excellent care given by staff who go above and beyond the
call of duty.
Mum was shown real love and we have peace of mind for the first time in ages. She was on a puréed diet and anything she fancied was made possible. Her clothes were always clean and immaculately, it was as near to home as possible and that was important.

My mum was transferred to Lumb Valley three weeks ago from sheltered accommodation as she was not coping on her own and was causing concern to the family. Since arriving at Lumb Valley there has been a big improvement in mums motivation and well being.
She is being cared for very well at all times.
Her medication is now being correctly given and she is eating three meals a day. She is less worried about falling as there is someone there all day and night, this has helped her gain confidence again. We as a family are happy in the knowledge that she is supervised and now has company all the time.

I found all the staff extremely cheerful and helpful and very friendly. The residents are also kept clean and well looked after. I've never heard not even one resident complain or say that they are unhappy. I was a district nurse and have visited many care homes and know how it works, my husband is
well looked after.

Current Review Score: 8.1 (8.081)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.1 (8.081) out of 10 for Lumb Valley Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.1 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.149 for Lumb Valley Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (35 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (8 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 47 Ratings = 4.149

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.932 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lumb Valley Care Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 22 registered maximum number of service users is 4.4. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 4.4 = 0.682

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
