Nestled within the residential community in Preston, in Lancashire, Meadow Bank Care Home offers personalised residential, nursing and dementia care care to older people.

At Meadow Bank, there is a range of lovely dining areas where residents can relax and enjoy an intimate dining experience with family and friends. The catering team prides itself on making mealtimes a sociable and stimulating part of each day, by providing an enjoyable experience for all residents and their loved ones.

By getting to know each individual resident, colleagues encourage everyone to take an active part in the Meadow Bank lifestyle. Community is an integral part of life at Meadow Bank, and the team is dedicated to supporting residents in building strong relationships in the Preston neighbourhood, regularly organising events with local schools, charities and businesses in the area.

Having also recently opened a state-of-the-art Specialist Dementia Care Community (SDCC), Meadow Bank offers an enhanced service which focuses on the welfare and wellbeing of people who are emotionally distressed by their dementia and therefore require specialist care and support.

Recently, the welcoming care home benefitted from a significant refurbishment programme, which created modernised living environments, including a cinema (in SDCC community), which were designed to enhance the quality of life for all residents.

My daughter and I have visited my wife 5 days out of every 7. We are so pleased with your home in all respects. The staff is very diligent in carrying out their responsibilities to the patients which has impressed us so much.
All areas including external paths, gardens and parking areas are well kept.
We have had no reasons to complain and my wife appears relaxed in her surroundings.

Mum's care is acceptable, but I do feel staffing levels could be better. The lounge could have a member of staff as well as the hostess.
Interaction with residents could be increased too.

We review staffing numbers in relation to the dependencies of our Residents using a recognised industry ratified dependency tool. Dependencies are reviewed monthly and we will continue to monitor staffing levels daily. We are currently implementing a whole new training programme for all staff which focuses on all aspects of kind care, including meaningful interactions with Residents.

I find Beech Hurst at Meadow Bank a wonderful, caring place. My only complaint is the TV on all day (no music) most residents can't see or hear it. Sometimes residents are moved without being told they are going to be moved. The atmosphere in Beech Hurst is relaxed and residents treated as individuals.
Staff are caring and on the whole very professional.

My mum has been a resident with Alzheimer's at Meadow Bank for 18 months now and in that time has not only settled well but has thrived. In my opinion, this is due to her feeling safe and secure with a daily routine carried out by familiar staff.
However, I do feel that weak management lets the care
home down in terms of poor cleanliness and lack of activities for the residents.

Brother-in-law rather reluctant to spend his last days in a care home. It appeared that he quickly settled in and he was happy. I was delighted with the care and attention he received and could not fault the staff. His care was dignified and we as visitors were treated with respect. Well done staff
in Ribble unit.

My mum was transferred to Meadow Bank in September 2017 from another nursing home. She is looked after well, her room is clean and bright and the food is good. Mum has settled in well and is quite happy.

My father was a resident in Beech House at Meadowbank for 4 and a half years. At all times, he was treated with respect and dignity by all the staff who grew to love him for his personality. Usually smiling, laughing, facial expressions and winked and blinked at the female staff. His wishes were respected,
as were mine, and nothing was too much trouble.


This clothing was carefully washed and ironed and kept in good condition at all times. The housekeeping staff kept the unit clean and tidy at all times when his condition deteriorated and he subsequently died. He had the wonderful care which could not be faulted, he died peacefully and with dignity in my arms with my husband and nurses supporting us. They were just wonderful.

My husband has been a resident on Sabrina Unit at Meadow Bank since December 2015. He settled in quickly due to the care and attention given to him by the staff and nurses. He has now been a resident for 20 months and is still very settled. The staff really care about the residents and I continue to
be impressed by their unfailing hard work to ensure their residents feel "at home". The unit and rooms are kept clean and tidy and the food is a very good standard. There is an entertainment coordinator on the unit and she tries very hard to do something for everyone. Nurses, carers, cleaners and entertainment staff run this challenging behaviour unit well. Any concerns are dealt with quickly and efficiently by the unit manager.

Meadow Bank is an example to the rest - it must be in the top 10!!
All staff, I repeat, ALL staff display constant love and care for their residents.
Their pay is far too low for what they do - It is a total disgrace that money is thrown away on foreign aid - my tax and many others!!
Working in the
main 12-hour shifts is only possible because they are truly dedicated - it's a vocation.
7 day laundry - excellent food - superb housekeeping. Small management unit - first class.

This is the second time we have used Meadow Bank for respite for my mum. It enables us to have holidays without any worries about her care.
The staff are kind, hardworking, professionals. They put the needs of the residents first and are tirelessly devoted to their work.

My Mum was transferred to Meadow Bank from another local nursing home that was awful in every way possible and she was very worried about what would await her. I am very pleased to report that the home is fantastic. The rooms are clean, bright and very airy. The food is lovely and they are very accommodating
to 'fussy' needs. The staff are wonderful and very upbeat and happy in all that they do and they really do keep the resident's spirits up. The activities are daily, are varied and seem to be enjoyed by all that participate and the resident cat is a lovely touch to keep that feeling of home. Out of my Mum's window and door, she can see ducks and ducklings waddling around and the setting is just lovely. My Mum is cared for, the staff have a keen interest in all the residents and the managers at Meadow Bank seem to run the place perfectly! Mum has settled extremely well and I can relax that she is now in the right place with wonderful care.

I am happy with my mother's care on the Ribb 6 Unit (nursing unit). Her care is not "fixed" on a plan but changes according to her needs and staff have initiative and drive to try new things.
Recently, although mostly cared for in her bed she has started having showers and baths, which she enjoys (although
tiring!) She enjoys excellent meals and the nurses and carers are a credit to Bupa. Her views are sought from her or myself. Thank you.

My mother was in respite care while we were away on holiday. Everything went smoothly thanks to the efficiency and help of the receptionist and the staff in general. My only quibble was that there appears to have been a mix up in the laundry system which was not even requested. Some items of underwear
have gone missing and she came home with a skirt that was not hers (since returned).

I have had 8 Christmases here visiting my dad. This year was exceptional, the staff were wonderful. It was such a happy day all round. Lots of people visited, everyone was dressed in Xmas jumpers and hats. The meal was excellent. One resident who's first Xmas it was, said it was 300% better than she
expected. It couldn't have been any better on any level, it didn't feel like a nursing home. It just felt like a big party.
