The Moorings is a purpose-built, contemporary home, specially designed to provide the very best of care for the active resident who wants to reside in luxury but live in comfortable surroundings.

The home overlooks the sea and sand dunes of the town of St Anne's-on-the-Sea. St Anne's is a traditional seaside resort featuring a sandy beach, ice cream stalls and a traditional seaside pier. It is complemented by picturesque gardens, while consideration has been given to ensure there are plenty of seating areas for residents to sit inside or outside to take in the view and enjoy the sea air.

All of the spacious, high quality bedrooms come with en-suite facilities; many offering views overlooking the sea, the gardens and an Italian style garden.

Each of the en-suite bathrooms have a wet-room shower, toilet and wash basin. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated and contain seating, a television and storage facilities.

The bedrooms and en-suites have discreet nurse call systems so you can call for assistance whenever you need it.

The home also offers residents restaurant style dining, a cinema, salon and an indoor bowling green. There are many seating areas, a library and lounges residents can choose to relax or take advantage of the extensive range of activities and make use of a range of facilities, including trips in the vintage motor car.

My husband was safe, secure and well cared for during his two weeks staying at the Moorings whilst I recovered from surgery. I would not hesitate to use the services offered by this care home again in the future. Thanks go to all the staff at the Moorings from the top to the ladies who keep the home

My 2nd time for respite. Very pleased with everything. The staff are fantastic, for an 88-year-old Royal Air Force veteran. It was a lovely experience and hopefully will do it again so I will keep saving and see you again.

I was most welcomed into the Moorings Care Home, which I felt was a home from home experience. There a good, happy atmosphere within the home where it was clear that other residents felt at ease on a day to day basis. I was staying for a short period of time but totally satisfied by the end of the visit.
Morning or night I felt secure in the knowledge that the home could help me should any problems arise. The home readily supported my request to assist with a vegan diet. Each and every resident (including myself) was treated with absolute care and dignity and I will be recommending family and friends to stay at the Moorings for a first class experience. The activities provided were fun!

My father was a resident at The Moorings Care Home for over 2 years. His mobility had worsened and following a few falls at home he decided he’d feel safer in a Care Home. He was delighted that he had a spacious room with a sea view, which was large enough for him to move around in whilst in his electric
wheelchair.
He felt safe, well cared for and the staff treated him with respect and dignity at all times.
He wasn’t one to join in with any of the many activities taking place, preferring to stay in his room to read his daily newspaper and tackle his number puzzles in peace! The staff respected that this was what he enjoyed doing and left him to it.
He couldn’t have had better care than he had at The Moorings.

My husband and I moved into The Moorings for three weeks R & R. We liked it so much we booked another 2 weeks! Sadly, my dearest husband deteriorated and passed away on the 3rd March. He was 97 years old and what a fitting end for a perfect English gentleman in luxury first-class care. I can't speak
highly enough of them. I stayed on for another 2 weeks to be thoroughly spoilt and pampered. If I find I can't manage on my own, I won't hesitate to move back in!

Mum has been resident for nearly 7 years. Throughout that time and with changing needs I found the home, particularly its excellent staff, consistently delivers care to a very high standard.
Superb facilities, well maintained, extremely clean, with options and activities to spend time away from the
bedroom, lounge-type areas(every landing) for more private family visits.
Dedicated dining room, with library, lounge, and TV area including reception providing options. The hair salon is always high on Mum's priorities.
Meals are home-cooked with local high-quality suppliers.
Care and medication routines have all been handled precisely. Communication re: hospital appointments, doctor or health visits, and health monitoring between family and home has been managed consistently to a high standard.
Close monitoring of Mum's health has seen early calls to Doctors made based on health indicators causing concern.
Cannot fault communication between Home and Doctor / Health Centre on the speed of referral and communication.

My dad resided in the home for approximately 4 years, he was very happy. He liked the staff and felt comfortable there. When he first joined the home, he enjoyed the activities, social day trips and the comradeship of both staff and residents. As time passed, he was less able but was still made to feel
fully inclusive. The patience and compassion was truly remarkable! The home is very well presented, constantly being maintained and updated. Standard of cleanliness is extremely high. Surroundings put you in mind of a comfortable hotel, with a calm and relaxed atmosphere. The staff are kind, respectful, sociable and very helpful. They ensure the residents are happy, safe, and have their individual needs met. A real happy relaxed community! When my dad became poorly, then end of life, the home gave us the opportunity to spend time with him, due to there careful planning, forethought and organisation his final days were peaceful and pain-free. Forever grateful for Dad’s outstanding care.

Whilst the initial introduction and moving in were good, things went downhill from there. A move to a smaller room was done due to the shower facilities not working, which caused Health and Safety issues. The quality of care has been less than acceptable. Dirty linen left on the dressing table and not
bagged appropriately, not changing PPE between tasks involving food, and a few more to mention. Have to say I wouldn't recommend it, and has not lived up to expectations. The response received to my complaints is less than acceptable, and would urge anyone to start a diary when moving into any care home, as without specific dates, times and names your complaint doesn't go much further. Thankfully moved into another home.

Unfortunately, the evolution of your complaints and their amplification only served to obstruct our genuine efforts to establish the facts.

My mother became resident here in January 2023 and could not have wished for better care. This place is welcoming from the reception area where you are met with smiling faces; the staff and management can't do enough to ensure my mother's needs are met. The activities coordinator does a marvellous job
entertaining residents with craft-making, quizzes sing-alongs and much more. There's so much for everyone. The rooms are kept lovely and clean as well as the communal areas.
I personally can't thank all concerned enough, knowing my mother is happy, safe and well cared for.

The care my mum has experienced so far is second to none. The Moorings has quickly become a home-from-home following initial admission for respite. Mum continues to live independently with support when required. We can't fault anything.

Nick Wood

Aged 9 I came home from school one day to find an elderly lady sat in my favourite chair eating her dinner and hogging the TV remote control. It was really confusing! That was the very first day in the history of Lakeview Rest Homes and 29 years on we are still going strong. My passion for care comes from the many amazing childhood memories this industry has afforded me and the many of life’s characters I have met.


I joined the Company officially in September 2000 when we were a much smaller group of two homes with a care offering of 48 bedrooms in total. I have literally worked my way up through the Company from the bottom.


In my time with Lakeview I have been responsible for two extensions to Lakeview, the purchase and redevelopment of Newfield Lodge (including its recent shift in focus to dementia care) and more recently the design and delivery of The Moorings which has won ‘The Most Outstanding Care Home Redevelopment in the UK’ for 2014 and 2015.

I am the Operations Manager for Lakeview Rest Homes and the Registered Manager for The Moorings. I have been with the company for nearly 3 years and I have a track record of managing the delivery of care on to large care homes. I boast a Level 2, 3 & 5 Diploma in Health & Social Care.


I possess the compassion and have an in-depth knowledge of person-centred care complimented with the requirements needed to meet regulation guidelines. I have gained knowledge through the practice of medical conditions and the impact on daily living as well as a sound understanding of medication administration and other clinical areas.


I enjoy motivating and leading team members to be successful and expand their knowledge to provide the highest standards of care for residents.
