The Moorings is a purpose-built, contemporary home, specially designed to provide the very best of care for the active resident who wants to reside in luxury but live in comfortable surroundings.

The home overlooks the sea and sand dunes of the town of St Anne's-on-the-Sea. St Anne's is a traditional seaside resort featuring a sandy beach, ice cream stalls and a traditional seaside pier. It is complemented by picturesque gardens, while consideration has been given to ensure there are plenty of seating areas for residents to sit inside or outside to take in the view and enjoy the sea air.

All of the spacious, high quality bedrooms come with en-suite facilities; many offering views overlooking the sea, the gardens and an Italian style garden.

Each of the en-suite bathrooms have a wet-room shower, toilet and wash basin. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated and contain seating, a television and storage facilities.

The bedrooms and en-suites have discreet nurse call systems so you can call for assistance whenever you need it.

The home also offers residents restaurant style dining, a cinema, salon and an indoor bowling green. There are many seating areas, a library and lounges residents can choose to relax or take advantage of the extensive range of activities and make use of a range of facilities, including trips in the vintage motor car.

Awful experience. The accommodation is new and modern and enticing. However, the care is substandard. The actual staff are pleasant and seem hard-working but there does not appear to be enough of them. The managing staff and reception are rude and unfriendly with no compassion. I certainly wouldn't
recommend this home if you are looking for a caring establishment.

We are committed to providing quality care, taking our responsibilities very seriously and have investigated these concerns.
At this time, we carry out assessments via telephone and it is crucial that all information provided is accurate to enable us to determine whether we can safely meet clients' needs. Unfortunately, there was a discrepancy between the actual needs of the service user and those described to us during the assessment process. This was firmly/politely raised with the family and it was made clear that we would not have agreed to the admission had we known - which they did not like.
We agreed with the family to fulfil the placement and we tried our best. The care notes which are time/date stamped show that the client was very well cared for during her stay (often on a 1:1 basis).
We regret the reviewer's dissatisfaction, but we don't believe the review is fair. There needs to be some accountability for their part in the assessment discrepancy and subsequent issues.

Choosing the Moorings Residental Care Home has been of the best things I have done. Having had a full knee replacement and living on my own, I decided to have 2 weeks of care after the operation. From the moment I arrived, I felt at home and cared for. Nothing is too much trouble for any member of staff
any time day or night.
My room, with a fantastic view of the beach, has helped my well-being, watching people and the weather has been amazing. Made lovely friends with both staff and residents.

The Moorings was recommended to us by a friend and this has been the first time my mother has been in residential care for some respite for me who is her full-time carer - like with any change, my mother was apprehensive but after picking her up today she could not have spoken more highly of her stay
and found all the staff and facilities first class - so much so she is already planning her stay next year. Thank you so much for taking excellent care of her, she loved it.

Like many people, I was very anxious about trusting my mum to others. However, The Moorings staff treat Mum as an individual and truly demonstrate care and empathy in how they interact with Mum.
I particularly like the enthusiasm staff demonstrate when providing entertainment and activities for residents.

I have been very satisfied with the care of my mother at The Moorings. The staff are very kind, they know my mother well and have a good rapport with her. She now has severe physical limitations and is restricted to a wheelchair and hoist, but she feels safe and enjoys joining in with many of the activities
on offer, which during the Covid-19 pandemic were so important in keeping the residents happy and motivated. My mother has become more integrated since joining in. The many parties and social functions for the residents at The Moorings help too. It is good to see them all enjoying life on Facebook.
The management is very good at keeping me informed of any changes in my mother’s health and care. They have kept all the residents safe during the Covid-19 epidemic and have been meticulous in their processes, allowing safe visiting when appropriate.
In conclusion, I consider the care at The Moorings to be excellent and I never hesitate to recommend it to others.

My mum has been at The Moorings for approximately 4 years now. In all that time I have found every aspect of the care provided to be excellent. She is very happy and settled there. The facilities are marvellous and the staff fantastic. It is a very happy, welcoming place with a truly caring and dedicated
staff team who consistently do their best for the residents. The reassurance of knowing she has been in such safe hands during this awful covid period and times of lockdown has meant the world to me. They have done their absolute best to facilitate contact and visits as permitted during difficult times. Despite the additional difficulties, hardships and pressures the team must have faced during covid times they have maintained high standards of care and kept a very happy home going for the residents. I can't thank or praise the team highly enough.

My mother joined the Moorings family in November 2019. I say family with good reason - from the minute Mum came to the home every member of staff - be they housekeeping, careers, admin, maintenance - everyone - has always treated her and myself and other family members, with the following attributes:
friendliness, kindness, professionalism and empathy. Nothing is ever too much trouble.
During the recent pandemic, I have truly appreciated just how lucky Mum is to be cared for in the Moorings. The level of hygiene, care and protection offered to all the residents, the adherence to covid protocols and clear, concise and timely communication to all concerned has been excellent.


It is truly a 5-star care home - presenting itself as a 5-star hotel. Well done and thank you to everyone involved.

The Moorings has been the home of my dad and stepmother for over 3 and a half years. It has really been a home in all senses - not just a name but somewhere my dad, in particular, has felt safe, happy and settled. We, his family, have been so relieved that what could have been quite a difficult adjustment
for him has been very positive. His room is great with fantastic views over the sea and sand dunes. Staff are brilliant in knowing his likes and dislikes. Living with Covid over the last 18 months has been extremely difficult for everyone, but knowing that their best interest was always at the heart of their care and the overall management of the Moorings was in such good hands has made life not seeing them bearable. Thank you to all staff in all areas for going above and beyond during these difficult and hard times and being family to the residents.

Mum has been in the Moorings for 7 years, following 3 visits for respite. This most beautiful care home overlooks the sea and is a 10 minute stroll to St Annes on Sea. The rooms are of different sizes set on 3 floors with 2 spaced out lifts. The residents have daily housekeeping, laundry plus newspapers
if required. Food is served in the Bistro, with a varied breakfast, lunch and evening meal. Every day the activities coordinator puts together exercise, music and craft. Covid permitting, the minibus takes the residents out on trips and there is a hairdresser, cinema and games room. The staff are wonderful, caring compassionate and always happy to update you regarding how your loved one is getting on. Mum is 94 and has recently been poorly. She has been so well looked after and I can't thank each and everyone enough.

Following numerous admissions to hospital, it was time to make the difficult and overwhelming decision to place my grandmother into residential care. After looking at many options in the area The Moorings welcomed me with open arms and as soon as I stepped in I had a great feeling about the home.
15
months later, my grandma is in the best health she’s been in despite lockdowns, Covid and the uncertainty of the future months!
The staff are wonderful, knowledgeable and so caring.
The home is immaculately clean and I know how much this has meant to my grandma personally, especially during Covid.
The activities coordinator is excellent and the themes she comes up with gets everyone involved.
There’s always something for the residents to get involved in.
My grandma has settled in well despite the lack of contact with me and my family due to lockdown, but they have gone above and beyond to ensure resident safety and kept all relatives up to date. Thanks will never be enough.

I entered the home directly from hospital following hip replacement surgery. I was very well looked after by the staff, especially when an emergency arose. They called out district nurses and obtained medication for me. They are genuine, caring people and I would recommend them to anybody.

My Father moved to The Moorings in March 2020. Initially tricky for him to adjust to the change in his independence, he started appreciating the different aspects which residing at The Moorings offers. He loved the varied menus, especially the cooked breakfasts. He enjoyed the variety of daily activities
on offer, relaxing lounges and the excellent company of fellow residents. He enjoyed the other amenities and comfort of his ensuite room. He appreciated interactions with all the individual staff members.


When his health recently plummeted the staff teams provided the best possible dignified nursing care. Spending time with him I witnessed the quality of care and commitment of every member of staff attending him. It was humbling to see the outstanding level of care and professionalism. Sadly he recently passed away. The staff hold my respect and thanks for making Dad's last year so happy and fulfilled, and our family's gratitude and thanks to all involved in every aspect of his care

I moved to the Moorings from London in August 2016 following the death of my wife. The Moorings is a purpose-built beautifully equipped care home in St. Annes and overlooks the promenade and the Irish Sea. Four and a half year residence here I have been looked after to a very high standard and have
never ever encountered any unpleasantness or bad behaviour by any member of staff. Food is excellent with three or four choices per meal. All the staff are very caring and I am very happy and contented here in spite of the restrictions necessary due to Covid-19

Nick Wood

Job Title: Executive

Aged 9 I came home from school one day to find an elderly lady sat in my favourite chair eating her dinner and hogging the TV remote control. It was really confusing! That was the very first day in the history of Lakeview Rest Homes and 29 years on we are still going strong. My passion for care comes from the many amazing childhood memories this industry has afforded me and the many of life’s characters I have met.


I joined the Company officially in September 2000 when we were a much smaller group of two homes with a care offering of 48 bedrooms in total. I have literally worked my way up through the Company from the bottom.


In my time with Lakeview I have been responsible for two extensions to Lakeview, the purchase and redevelopment of Newfield Lodge (including its recent shift in focus to dementia care) and more recently the design and delivery of The Moorings which has won ‘The Most Outstanding Care Home Redevelopment in the UK’ for 2014 and 2015.

I am the Operations Manager for Lakeview Rest Homes and the Registered Manager for The Moorings. I have been with the company for nearly 3 years and I have a track record of managing the delivery of care on to large care homes. I boast a Level 2, 3 & 5 Diploma in Health & Social Care.


I possess the compassion and have an in-depth knowledge of person-centred care complimented with the requirements needed to meet regulation guidelines. I have gained knowledge through the practice of medical conditions and the impact on daily living as well as a sound understanding of medication administration and other clinical areas.


I enjoy motivating and leading team members to be successful and expand their knowledge to provide the highest standards of care for residents. I strive to ensure our teams value each resident and work with residents’ friends and families to build lasting relationships and ensure they have as much time as they require to meet our resident’s needs.
