Staff and sisters at the home have provided care and friendship, helping my mother settle in and transfer from her home.
She now refers to her room and the house as her 'new home' and the place 'where I am going to remain'.
The staff are supportive of her needs and responsive to her requirements,
always with a smile and reassuring comment.
The home social areas and my mother's room are clean and well cared for. Food is very good.

My Sister spent the last 17months of her life at Nazareth House and felt very lucky to have found a lovely place to live.
She loved the companionship and friendliness of the Staff and fellow residents. She loved some of the activities, not all of them because she was rather hard of hearing.
Poetry
Classes were her favourite and she couldn't wait for Wednesday to come around. Not all meals were to her liking but always loved the puddings and of course her fish and chips on Friday, but she didn't have much of an appetite towards the end of her life. I'd looked around quite a few homes and found that Nazareth House always comes out the best. We always laughed and said it was like living in a Hotel. Lovely large rooms and such friendly Staff and all were so obliging. Nothing was too much trouble, even taking her to Hospital appointments when I was unable to.
Thank you so much to everyone who made her last 17 months so happy, she really appreciated all you did for her and we did too.

I am forwarding this review because I believe Nazareth House to be a truly top class facility. Sadly my mum passed away at Christmas, she was for the six years or more she was there, always extremely happy, warm, and well fed. I live overseas in Western Canada, I have made several visits over the years
and stayed in the guest's room and lounge with nothing being any trouble for the staff.
The level of nursing care is fantastic, the games and activities are well thought out and put on in a regular time frame.
Thank you all once again for giving mum such a lot of true love.

My mother who is 91 is a resident at Nazareth House. The level of care and love she receives from everyone involved in the home is truly exceptional. She is both safe and very happy to be in a home that she feels is really´her home´. There are many varied activities in the home, which bring all the
residents together in a positive way, likewise, the dining room is a hub for everyone, staff, residents and visitors alike come together to enjoy the experience, nothing is too much trouble.
I live abroad and visit often, many times staying in the guest quarters at Nazareth House. I see first hand how everyone pulls together making the atmosphere so positive. What stands out for me is to see so much genuine care, kindness and true respect from the top down that is shown to all who work, live or visit Nazareth House.

My aunt moved to Nazareth House in Lancaster almost four years ago, after leaving hospital and no longer being able to live independently. I'm so pleased to say that during that four years it very much became her home, and she was loved, respected and extremely well cared for there. A month or so ago
she was admitted to Preston hospital, but she and we, her family, and the staff at Nazareth House, were very pleased she managed to return and spend her final days there, amongst people she knew and loved. On behalf of all her family, I extend huge thanks, and admiration, for the care my aunt has received from everyone there. We could not have hoped for anywhere better.

My brother has already submitted a review but as we were so impressed with the care my father received at Nazareth House, I too want to let you all know. My father dreaded going into a home but immediately felt at home, cared about and relaxed in Nazareth House. We were all made most welcome when
we went to visit at all hours daily. My Father said that if he had known how nice it was, he would not have dreaded leaving his own home which he loved. He regularly said, "I am living like a Lord!" He came to regard the staff as his friends and he was treated with the utmost respect at all times. As Dad's health deteriorated he was never left alone and the staff talked to him as he drifted in and out of 'sleep. Dad sadly died at Nazareth House but we are so glad he was there as he died with the same dignity that he had lived his life. We all have to thank the staff and the ethos of Nazareth House for that. We will be forever grateful.

My father came into Nazareth House initially for respite care but his medical condition deteriorated rapidly and he was moved to the nursing floor very quickly after admission. We thus had experience of treatment by two different teams of staff on separate floors.
All the staff treated my father (and
us, the family) with the utmost dignity and respect and nothing was too much trouble.
We were made to feel welcome and my father was dealt with attentively at all times, day and night.
The pastoral care was also there when required without one being made to feel obliged to accept it.
My father really hadn't wanted to come into a care home, but he appreciated the care he received and was made to feel at home almost immediately.

Myself and my mum are very happy with the care mum is receiving. The home and the staff are all very friendly and personable. The facilities are excellent and the activities, although not all to mums taste are inspirational and useful to occupy her and make her feel at home. I am convinced that the
home is a place of safety for my mum. My family and I cannot thank the staff enough for helping my mum settle into a thriving place for her to live. She loves everything and although east to please she appreciates the care she is getting.

I cannot fault this nursing home, mum was unfortunately not there for long and had a very complex life limiting disease. The staff went out of their way to get to know mum and our family in the short space of time we had..nothing was too much trouble. The instant you walk through the door at Nazareth
House you can feel the warmth and love of all who work there, always greeted by name and with a smile. Humour and compassion are the order of the day...the wonderful Sisters exude a calming and compassionate air injected with a very necessary humour in a most respectful way. You are amazing ladies.
Thank you to all the staff for the wonderful end of life care afforded to mum in her final two weeks of her life, as an 'old school' nurse of 33 yrs basic care needs are high on my list of priorities, every day I visited, mum was beautifully presented right down to her face cream and favourite perfume, all the technology in the world cant replace basic nursing needs which when a loved one is dying are of paramount importance!
Being a nurse probably made me a bit more 'picky' than most, but if I was, the staff never made me feel like a nuisance....for that I thank you. The endless refreshments and care to our family at what was the saddest of times was so truly appreciated, food, drink, a hug and a smile...not much to ask, but so so meaningful and comforting.


To conclude, if nursing beds were removed from this outstanding home it would be a complete and utter travesty, the service they provide is invaluable to society and other homes should take a leaf from their book!


Finally special thanks to a most wonderful, caring and compassionate registered nurse, to the carers. truly beautiful and another staff member ...who kept mum moisturised and smelling gorgeous to the bitter end!


The Manager, you run a wonderful home and should be most proud of your staff....Deputy manager, such a gentle wonderful caring man.
Apologies to those I have not named, domestic staff, laundry ladies, the DIY expert and mini bus driver, catering staff and the kind and helpful ladies on reception you all hold a special place in my heart.


Your presence on behalf of Nazareth House at mum's funeral was a beautiful tribute

Both the carers and residents were cheerful and happy to help. The staff were very friendly. There were lots of activities for the residents such as quizzes, fayres etc. I would definitely recommend this place.

My father who is now 94 has been a resident in Nazareth House for approximately 4 years. From the start he was made very welcome and has had a very high standard of care. The staff have not only taken great care of him but have always found the time to listen to me and any concerns I may have had about
him. He has never been in the best of health and recently his health has deteriorated but the staff have always taken the time to make sure he is comfortable and that all his needs are met. They do this with both kindness and consideration. I know that he is well cared for and this has helped me as much as it has helped him. I cannot speak too highly of all the staff for the way they respond to his needs and their thoughtful way in which they deal with any concerns I may have about Dad. Having visited a few care homes in the past and can only say that we were very lucky that he was able to join the community here. I just want to say thank you to all the staff who are taking the trouble to make his twilight years as good as they can be for him and everybody who loves him.

I am the nephew of the resident referred to by another reviewer. I really cannot add anything - only endorse wholeheartedly their comments. The staff seem to be totally committed to the welfare, health and enjoyment of the residents who have a good quality of life as a result. I am unable to
visit very often as I live over 300 miles away, but I get good, informed reports about my aunt when I ring to enquire about her. I am delighted that she is in the professional care of Nazareth House, Lancaster.

My aunt was transferred to Nazareth House from Lancaster Infirmary when it was assessed that she needed full time nursing care. As her only family is myself who lives in the USA and her nephew who lives in Devon, this was an anxious time. She is unable to walk and has poor memory although she can feed
herself with some assistance. She has been there now for well over a year and just celebrated her 92nd birthday with a pampering session and cake! I am able to visit a couple of times a year, always unannounced, and have been incredibly impressed with the level of care she receives (I am a registered nurse so have some professional knowledge of this). She is always clean, well groomed and usually dressed but I like the fact that she can stay in bed all day if she is not feeling like leaving her room. The staff seem very attuned to her state of mind and take the time to find out what she wants to do.


The staff were very keen to know as much about my aunt as possible so they can help her reminisce and I feel that they care for her as family. They have some of her photos around her room and were keen to learn who everyone is so they can talk about them to her. Because I am so far away they keep in touch with me by email and have shared photos of various events this way. I phone regularly and the conversations with her carers are always informative. It is obvious that they know her well and care about her.


The facility is always immaculate, smells nice, has a calm feeling and is set in beautiful grounds. There appears to be little staff turnover as I speak to various people regularly who have been there since my aunt was admitted. Every staff member I have had contact with has been warm, friendly and caring. I would highly recommend Nazareth House to anyone who is looking for a caring, safe community for a loved one.

My mother was admitted to Nazareth House in February 2015 having spent two month in the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. When she arrived she was very weak and inactive. After receiving care in the first floor nursing unit she began to improve, put on a little weight and become much more aware of her environment.
She had always said that she did not want to go into a nursing home but after a few weeks she began to like the care she received and the warm and friendly atmosphere created by the staff. She was so pleased with the care that she decided to sell her flat so she could stay. It was a relief for me to know that she was being cared for and that she was happy. Even though she was in the nursing unit this did not stop her joining in activities. One day the carers took her downstairs to see a demonstration of owls, something she did not forget even though her memory was very poor. There were other events she was taken to but in line with the caring attitude of Nazareth House, she only did the things she wanted to do.
I would like to thank the care staff for their hard work and dedication. I would also like to thank all the other people at Nazareth House who made my mother's last few month as comfortable, happy and dignified as possible.
