  • Newfield Lodge, Lytham St Annes
Newfield Lodge has been re-designed and refurbished specially to provide the highest quality dementia care with innovative concepts and facilities to give enjoyment, interaction and stimulation to residents.

The home is based in the 19th century Edwardian town of St Anne's-on-the-Sea, a traditional seaside resort with floral displays, up-market hotels, a sandy beach, donkeys, a small pier, ice cream stalls and sand dunes nature reserve.

Newfield Lodge offers person-centred care to meet the needs of each individual, rather than a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach.

Staff are trained in dementia care, which has included taking part in the ground-breaking ‘virtual dementia tour’.

Newfield Lodge has an activity co-ordinator who ensures that meaningful and relevant activity is a daily occurrence at Newfield Lodge. This can include reminiscence activities and residents can also participate in activities outside of the home.

Memory stations throughout the Newfield Lodge help families to support their loved one and encourage them to live in the moment that they are in whilst embracing the memories that they have.

Staff teams at the home value each resident and work with residents' friends and families to build lasting relationships and ensure they have as much time as they require to meet resident’s needs.

The home gives my mother everything I could wish for all the staff extremely helpful and good to the residents. I feel that moving my mum from her previous care home has only given my mother the will to carry on. The management team have exceptional skills and are an asset to the home.

My wife was diagnosed with Dementia - when it became imperative she would have to have care home supervision, after searching the area we decided on Newfield Lodge, 'on initially a Respite basis', it was very daunting for my beloved wife to be struck down with this terrible condition at comparatively
young age - moreover she is a very talented professional Cabaret Artist having appeared in clubs, theatres, and numerous times on national TV shows - I was very concerned how she would cope and visit every day 'I had many reservations at the outset' a new manager was employed at Newfield 'WHAT A DIFFERENCE SHE HAS MADE IN EVERY AREA' she is a very astute professional manager, who is constantly looking to improve/ upgrade the residents needs, her compassion to all is outstanding, she even brought DVDs in of my wife's favourite artists which inspired her, so many more improvements introduced have rubbed off on the excellent new team at Newfield. 'THANKS TO ALL FOR YOUR KINDNESS'

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.558)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.558) out of 10 for Newfield Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.658 for Newfield Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (87 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 120 Ratings = 4.658

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Newfield Lodge is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
