When my mum became a resident of Primrose Bank she was very withdrawn and struggled socialising and her memory loss was causing her a lot of distress. From the very first day, mum was made to real so welcome and soon referred to Primrose as her home. All the staff are amazing and nothing at all is
too much trouble. The family are included in so many events and also made welcome at every visit.
The food is restaurant standard with credit going to the chef and supper clubs mean a lovely family meal with mum can be truly enjoyed.
Thank you to all at Primrose Bank, Managers, Senior Carers, Carers, Kitchen and Domestic staff for all taking such good care of mum and making her feel so safe and at home. Mum is no longer withdrawn and takes part in all the activities arranged of which there are plenty. Thank you to all.

Mum has been here happily for a year. Management and staff are approachable, caring, helpful, respectful and kind. Nothing ever seems to be too much trouble for them. Comfort, cleanliness and safety of the residents is of high priority. Friends and relatives are welcomed and their views and ideas often
sought, allowing them to feel inclusive and relaxed, knowing any concerns can be discussed and acted upon. Activities are well organised by a dedicated organiser and are appropriate and varied to accommodate varying needs of the residents. Friends and family are encouraged to join residents for excellent meals - best supper club in the area! Burns night was outstanding. I am thrilled mum has settled so well, this is solely due to the professional operation and commitment of management and staff.

After having reservations about where best to place my father for ongoing care, I’m so glad I chose Primrose Bank. He has been so well cared for and looked after by all the staff there. The staff always have a friendly smile and nothing is too much trouble.
My father has really come out of his shell,
after a number of health setbacks at home he had lost confidence in himself and his abilities, this has been retained with the nurturing support of the staff and for that, I’m very grateful.
It’s nice to see him happy and settled and know that when we visit we are warmly welcomed, the inclusion of family and friends in their activities and “supper club” is a really nice touch knowing that we can still have our family “outings” despite my father no longer residing at home.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.935)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.935) out of 10 for Primrose Bank Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.653 for Primrose Bank Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (48 Excellents x 5) + (23 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.653

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.282 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Primrose Bank Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 44 registered maximum number of service users is 8.8. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.8 = 0.682

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
