My cousin was in Rathmore Rest Home for just over two years, until her death at the age of 98. During that time, the staff became like family to her, as her own family lived quite a distance away.
The loving care and attention she received from the manager and a member of staff in particular, and all
the staff was excellent. The family was always well-informed, treated with respect, and made very welcome whenever we visited.
After a spell in hospital, my cousin was welcomed back to Rathmore for end-of-life care, which was excellent. We could phone or visit at any time and the manager kept us regularly informed. We were comforted to know that she was comfortable, in no pain, and in safe hands. When our cousin died, the manager and that member of staff made all the necessary arrangements and liaised closely with the family to make things as easy as possible for us. We are so grateful that Rathmore was the place where our cousin ended her life, supported by a dedicated, loving, and caring team.

Thank you for this lovely review. It was a pleasure to look after your cousin; she was a lovely lady who, I am sure, will be greatly missed by her family, us and all our staff, and everyone who knew her. I am happy that we were able to assist you during this difficult time.

Rathmore Care Home provided exceptional care for our 98-year-old auntie, treating her like family throughout her long-term stay. Rathmore offered a very caring, positive and attentive environment with responsive staff who demonstrated genuine compassion, offering plenty of time and attention. Our Auntie
was respected, supported and well cared for. Communication with our family was always well received, arrangements well organised and flexible and we were kept informed around any health concerns and always welcomed warmly during visits.
Rathmore's commitment to personalised care and dignity made a profound difference in her life. We would recommend them to anyone seeking compassionate residential care for their loved ones.

My brother was cared for at the Rathmore after release from the hospital. He required considerable personal care and attention. He received consistently compassionate, caring, loving and skilled attention. This care home is clean and professionally run establishment. The staff were very good at keeping
me informed of any changes in my brother’s condition or needs. I didn’t have to prompt them to do this. I highly recommend this home in all respects.

I was beginning to think a care home like this existed only in my imagination! After 9 weeks of hospital and rehabilitation care, 2 bad falls and down to six and a half stone in weight, it was a huge relief to find such a wonderful care home. Mum gained weight in days thanks to excellent home cooking
and the staff cannot do enough for her. All mum's needs are being met with genuine and kind attention which completely puts my mind at rest which helps me so much as I don't live in the area and can only visit every week or two. I am always made welcome and often enjoy the delicious food and homemade cakes myself. It is not easy finding the right care home for a loved one but I know mum couldn't be in a better place!

We really didn't want Mum to go into any home but realised it had to be. We visited many and chose the Rathmore as it was so homely and friendly, it was the best decision we could have made. Mum has now lived here for 4 years and is so happy. The staff are loving and caring and will do anything to
keep their residents happy. The owners welcome us popping in and out daily, feed us homemade cakes and tea and treat us like family. We know that Mum is well cared for, maybe even pampered and spoiled, but at 94 we are not complaining! We moved Mum's personal bits into her room and either us or the staff feel free to make suggestions that help Mum enjoy life. The home is small with only a max of 8 residents so if you need a place that will take great care of your relative get in quick!

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.943)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.943) out of 10 for Rathmore is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.818 for Rathmore is calculated as follows: ( (18 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 22 Ratings = 4.818

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.125 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Rathmore is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 8 registered maximum number of service users is 1.6, which has been reached with 2 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
