I find the home comfortable to visit, with caring staff, always happy to help. My partner settled in well, seems happy and contented. Food seems good, plentiful and a varied menu. The various rooms allow for socialising. The home is kept very clean and residents' clothes are clean and always dressed
suitably.

My father spent a week in Sea Bank House prior to hospitalization. The transfer procedure was excellent as this was to be a permanent move. During his stay and on our visits, all staff treated us with dignity and exceptional kindness. Unfortunately, Dad did not return; however, he had said he wanted
to go back to that "marvellous place" he called home.

The management were extremely helpful when I needed to move my mum from her previous care home. The transition was well-planned and went smoothly. Mum has settled well and I am kept up to date regularly with her health, needs, etc.

My overall experience of the home has been good. My one concern is the amount of times that the lift is not working. My son is unable to manage stairs, as he requires a walking frame to assist him to walk. I recently spoke to a fire officer giving a talk to staff at the home and was assured by the safety
procedure at the home.

Reply from joanne Cato, Manager at Sea Bank House

Thank you for your review, unfortunately the lift was out of use on one of your visits and a fast fixture was taken place that day.
I am happy to hear you are happy with all other aspects of the home.

My auntie seems relatively happy at the home, I believe most carers offer wonderful care. The home does need refurbishment and in my opinion, is not ideal for wheelchair users and people with physical care needs. Maybe it should also be looked at who the home caters for. Physical, dementia, elderly
etc.

Reply from James Muldoon, Ops Manager at Sea Bank House

Thank you for taking the time for a highly inaccurate review.
Over the last 6 month period alone the home has undergone refurbishment, with improved carpets on the stairs and 23 new chairs to the lounges as well as a new wet room and a new conservatory, and the constant redecoration of all the public areas and bedrooms when required or requested by our clients.
CQC are happy with the Registration Categories of our clients.

Having cared for my parents for the past 5 years, the family were very reluctant to place my mum in a care home, however, from day one, the home has more than exceeded our expectations and my mother who was totally against the move was made very welcome by everyone in the home. She has settled in incredibly
well due to the friendliness and caring nature of every one member of staff. My mother now feels that this is her home and we are extremely grateful and thankful to everyone at the home. The staff are truly amazing. Various members of the family visit daily at all times of day or evening and are always made to feel extremely welcome. The quality and variety of the food is exceptional and the chef is always happy to accommodate any special requests. A fabulous home with first class care and staff.

Excellent staff at Seabank House, food and care second to none. I come in all different times of the day on a daily basis and all residents are happy and well cared for and the home is always very clean and being updated regularly, loving the new conservatory and new chairs which have recently been
acquired. my auntie loves the new wet room which is a new feature to the home. I particularly like the fact that there is constant stimulation in activities and entertainment who come in once or twice a week, I like the fact they now have clothes stalls coming in often and if residents chose to staff will take them out to local shops for a walk.

When I and mu husband visit my cousin we always feel comfortable. Chatting to other residents we feel they are quite content, warm and cared for. Dressed tidily in their own clothes. The staff are friendly and offer us a cup of tea. We have had fun and joined in with the entertainment (sing-a-long etc).
It feels very homely and the staff seem to stay and are consistent which is important to the residents,

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.620)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.620) out of 10 for Sea Bank House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.375 for Sea Bank House is calculated as follows: ( (19 Excellents x 5) + (28 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.375

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.245 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Sea Bank House is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 23 registered maximum number of service users is 4.6. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 4.6 = 0.87

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
