My father was placed into care in December 2017. It has been a distressing time for our family. The positive in all of this has been the support and care from the team at Wordsworth House.
From the manager, deputy manager, care workers, catering team and the wonderful maintenance man, our experience
has been overwhelmingly positive. They have taken every step to help Dad settle in and have provided support and reassurance to our whole family.
It has helped us all to cope with a major change in our lives and we are grateful to all at Wordsworth House for the fantastic job they do.

I visit my friend who is a resident every week. He always seems well cared for and happy that all his needs are being met.

A small group of us from church have been invited by the activities coordinator to take a short service once a month for the residents which my friend appreciates very much.

When a neighbour was told she would have to go into a residential home she was very reluctant and upset about the decision. After a stay in hospital she arrived at the house and settled very well and enjoyed her stay, she never mentioned her own home or wanting to return there. The staff are very friendly
and helpful, she made friends with them all. When after a short stay she passed away, we went to tidy the room and the help we received was wonderful, we were invited to the Christmas Party.

My mother has advanced Alzheimer's and was placed at Wordsworth House for 2 weeks respite whilst my father, her full-time carer, dealt with his own medical issues.
At the conclusion of the respite, the family decided to make my mother's place permanent.
She settled in well, the staff give her friendly,
personal and professional care.
The staff are always welcoming when the family visit, ready to update us with my mother's well being.
They are always on hand to ensure my mother's dignity and well being are looked after.
A truly friendly, caring, professional environment.

I have found the home efficient and caring. I am always contacted if there is a problem. The meals are very good and nutritional with a good variety. The staff and management are always helpful, friendly and polite. If I have any concerns or suggestions I feel comfortable talking to the appropriate
person. If anything I think more activities would be beneficial to the resident. But otherwise, I have no complaints.

The care and assistance to all our family from all the staff were excellent throughout my mothers stay at Wordsworth House. Mum was a very independent lady who would not let anyone help and the care and help from staff ensured she settled very quickly in the home from home environment.

Just a massive thank you to all the staff at Wordsworth House.
My mother was a resident at the home between October 2016 and March 2017, during this time the care and attention that was given to my mum by all the staff was superb.
Mum needed to go into a home after an accident in her home meaning
she was unable to be on her own.
A very difficult discussion to have to make trying to find the right home for an elderly parent. BUT as soon as we visited Wordsworth House and were shown around and introduced to the staff we new mum would be happy and comfortable here.
As a son you need to be kept informed off how mum was adjusting to life in the home, the staff passed on all the information each time we visited the home (daily).
Many thanks from all our family.

The home is very welcoming to visitors.
We were offered tea and brought chairs on arrival.
I brought my mother to visit her old friend.
They used to go out together before she became a resident at the home.
My mother still manages to live alone in her own home.
There is a very calm atmosphere,
views are lovely and all the ladies appear to have had their hair done.
They all appear content and there are pets within the home.

My mother lived in the care home for three and a half years, then passed away. We have no complaints at all. The staff were most caring and showed respect and privacy when needed.

My mum had just over 3 happy years at this home. She was on the dementia unit where all her care needs were met with the brilliant care staff and management. All her needs were catered for, her room was in excellent condition and always clean. The staff and manager also made us feel at home and when
mums dementia got worse the senior district nurse wanted to move mum to a nursing home which was very distressing for all the family, but thanks to the manager and regional manager who fought our case, mum stayed where she knew as her home. Mum sadly passed end of November but I can never thank all at the home enough for everything that was done for mum and I still pop in to see them. Well done care staff.

Having never set foot in a care home until my mother was admitted in February 2015, I had big reservations about them. Wordsworth House Care Centre has been an absolute dream. There my mother was made to feel welcome right from day one, all her needs have been met fully and I have no concerns about
her safety or well being. The staff are amazing, helpful, funny and caring and I am kept informed fully of every situation regarding my mother.

First impressions of the home were very favourable. Staff were helpful and understanding in our time of need. My father-in-law soon settled in and treats Wordsworth House Care Centre as his home now. He likes the staff who care for him. He says how hard they work, not only in a caring role but strive
in meeting all his needs. He thanks me for bringing him to live here and in turn I thank everyone for their kindness and professionalism.

I would like to state that I am very happy with the improvements made at Wordsworth House, my mum is happy and to me, that is all that matters. I think this is mainly down to the hardworking staff who work in the Dementia unit, they are all courteous and knowledgeable about my mum. We are at all times
kept up to date with information regarding my mum, good or bad.

My nanna was in Wordsworth House for 3 years until she passed away in November 2016. I could not ask for more from the staff. They treated my nan with dignity at all times. They went above and beyond the care needed and many times just sat with her when she was frightened. Wordsworth House staff,
management and even the maintenance man became part of our extended family. God bless!

I think that the care is generally of a perfectly reasonable standard, with a large number of activities.

A good standard of care for each resident as an individual, with good quality meals, although the rooms are slightly small and one or two things could be slightly cleaner.

Current Review Score: 7.4 (7.375)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.4 (7.375) out of 10 for Wordsworth House Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.250 for Wordsworth House Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (5 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 4.25

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.125 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wordsworth House Care Centre is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.125

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
