I find the care given to my mother dignified and has caring staff and management. Accessible and helpful with any concerns that may arise.

My mum was admitted to Victoria House towards the end of 2021. As mum had lived with us our whole lives, we were initially very worried about placing mum in the care of others. However, we realised that we had nothing to worry about. The staff at Victoria House looked after my mum like she was their
own family and tailored mum’s care to her needs. During Covid times, things were very difficult as we weren’t able to see mum as often, however, the staff were always so accommodating and provided updates about mum if needed. Sadly Mum passed away on 12th February 2022. She was in the care of those at Victoria House who made what was such a painful and difficult time for both Mum and for us as a family, as comfortable as it could be. Honestly, from our perspective, all the staff at Victoria House are like angels and we couldn’t be more grateful for everything they did for for us, but most importantly for filling mum’s last few months with so much love, happiness, and care.

The home is clean. The staff are friendly, approachable and attentive. The food is freshly cooked. More staff are definitely required. The funding is very low for activities, outings, ice creams etc. There needs to be more social events and more use of the garden. I often see residents just sat in the
middle lounge watching TV. Some have said it's boring. I think the owners ought to be more compassionate and to see the home as more than just a business.

My main concern in all areas is not enough staff, weekdays generally satisfactory, but weekends are definitely not enough, at night 2 staff on 2 floors and no senior carer. The food is good, but smaller quantities so as not to overfill. Activities good when provided, but 4 days a week nothing. Need
more stimulation. More choice in TV channels if all residents to be in one room. More choice needed for menu. Management, difficult to say as several changes recently. Staff excellent and kind and caring, treating residents as individuals, with respect and dignity. Working hard at all times fundraising for activities and outings.

The review is from myself and my grandma, as I feel she should have more of a say as she has experienced first hand the standard of care that she received during the five months she has spent in Victoria House. From what I have seen and experienced whilst visiting my grandma in the home, the staff are
very friendly and always have a smile on their faces when they come to see my grandma. They include her in the activities that they have on, by making little arts and crafts items, even though she is unable to attend due to immobility and a severe breathing condition. The rooms are slightly outdated, however, I feel that the standard of care takes precedence over the decor in the rooms. Overall, I don’t think we can find fault with the staff that work so hard to make sure that my grandma and other residents experience is a positive one.

Very happy here. Food is very good. Staff very nice. Plenty of entertainment. Plenty of outings and plenty of food. Very good housekeeping. Take us to Church and have a drink of tea or coffee after service.

During my friend's time at Victoria House, not only have the staff been friendly, approachable and very attentive to her, they have always looked after her visitors. Offering drinks, sandwiches and they go out of their way to make sure everyone is okay.

I visited my relative at the home who has been there some years, the staff are very caring the home is very tired but the care is excellent. The food is lovely and we are always offered a drink and home made cakes. We visit once a month and there are lots of changes going on which is exciting for the
residents.
