Very thorough and informative review covering all aspects of mums care. I voiced concerns over eye tests/dentist these have been actioned promptly and relevant appointments made. I feel able to speak to staff about any issues at all, confident that action will be taken. Very helpful having a review
so I can see how mum is doing.

When I came to look around Acorn House, I didn't hesitate to come and stay here, everyone was welcoming. The home is very clean and organised. I like to put the music on and dance with the others that live here. I am enjoying staff and residents company. Nothing is ever too much for the staff. I also
enjoy home-made cakes and biscuits with a cup of coffee.

As soon as we walked in the door we had a good feeling about Acorn House. We can visit anytime of day and the staff including management always make us feel welcome and are very helpful, easy to get along with and friendly. The home is very clean with pleasant rooms which have en suite toilet and wash
basin. Activities are organised in the mornings and now and again there are trips out. The home also organise hairdresser, foot care etc. if needed. The food is very tasty and is well suited to the age group its providing for. Acorn House gives us great peace of mind.

I cannot express just how fantastic Acorn House and all its staff are! This has been such a difficult year for us as a family, my dad moved into the home in January this year and it was one of the hardest decisions we have ever had to make. I have to say we were very dubious and very inexperienced
with this as it isn't something we have ever had to deal with before, dad had always been very independent so when we were told he would not be able to live alone any longer we were completely at a loss! We searched high and low for the right place which was extremely difficult, I began to think that such a place didn't exist, we saw some real horror stories! We are from Leyland and dad was at first in a home near there until they told us that we had to find another place for him, they said they were'nt staff sufficient to cater for his needs, this was a big blow to us and so the search started again! I work in Blackburn and that's how I came across Acorn House, from the moment I stepped through the door I felt completely at ease, we turned up unannounced which was far from a problem to anyone there. We were shown around in great detail, nothing was too much trouble and that standard has never slipped once! We as a family are so happy that we found Acorn House, dad is so settled, so well looked after we just couldn't ask for better. I would highly recommend Acorn House to anyone, everything about this place is amazing especially the staff, they are truly special people and I personally cannot thank them enough for everything that they have done and continue to do for both my dad and our family. If you are looking for a care home for a dear relative then look no further, you will not find a better place than this.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.657)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.657) out of 10 for Acorn House Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.757 for Acorn House Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (82 Excellents x 5) + (24 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.757

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Acorn House Care Centre is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 32 registered maximum number of service users is 6.4, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
