Berwick House Care Home is a delightful detached house set in its own grounds.

There are many facilities within easy reach of the home, including a general Post Office, various shops and a number of churches.

The Home and the grounds are fully equipped for wheelchair mobility, enabling Residents to retain their freedom and independence.

At Berwick House large attractive rooms are provided, most of which are en-suite. All Residents have a choice of room when possible and are encouraged to personalise it and make it their home.

Hospitality, comfort, dignity and care are the values of Berwick House Care Home and combined with its excellent facilities the home provides a comprehensive care service in a non-institutionalised setting.

The home has an established continuous programme of maintenance and refurbishment and has a nurse call system in every room in order for Residents to be able to summon speedy assistance.

A lift and a stair lift are provided to enable immobile or infirm residents and visitors to move easily between floors.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. They have gone the extra mile in trying to deal with my mum's behaviour which can be challenging. They spend precious time in trying to find things which make her less anxious.

The staff and manager have been very helpful and supportive during the residents stay. The home is well presented kept very clean and tidy with attentive and caring staff.

A very warm atmosphere when entering the building. All the staff are very friendly and offer tea or coffee as soon as you arrive. There is a friendly banter with staff and residents which makes a relaxed atmosphere. I don't get to see my uncle very often as I live near London. I ring him every week
and the staff are always willing to find him and pass him the phone so we can have a chat. The manageress keeps me updated with any medical needs he might have. My uncle seems very content.

I find the care home to be a friendly environment and ideal and compassionate for mums care. I do worry that there are times when I can't find a carer and I'm afraid mum will fall when not watched.
I assume there isn't enough staff to watch all the lounges at once.
The staff clearly love their job
and obviously have the residents best interests at heart.

Amazing care home for my lovely mother. Excellent staff, lovely bedroom for my mum. The care home itself was always clean and well looked after. Never once had any concerns after visiting my mum. I spent almost ten years visiting 4-5 times a week. Always felt at home. Cannot praise Berwick House and
its staff enough.

My wife has been resident at Berwick House for two years. Her condition has deteriorated significantly in that time. She is no longer able to walk, talk, read or write and can barely feed herself.
But the staff have always treated her with dignity and compassion.
I feel confident that they will continue
to do their best to look after her well and ensure she has everything she needs, even when I am unable to visit personally (because of holidays or illness). I have never witnessed the staff shout at or ill-treat patients in any way.

Berwick House is a caring welcoming place. The staff are always helpful and willing to answer any questions. The staff show so much compassion to the residents. My father was also a resident here before he passed away and would recommend Berwick House to people.

I have found Berwick House to be a well-led team of committed workers trying to cope with a demanding set of clients needing a lot of looking after. Money has been spent to try and improve the home and I believe the owners of the home are committed to spend where necessary.

I found the care my mum was given was really good my mum seemed to like being in this home. All staff were very kind and helpful. Plenty of activities and my mum was taken out most days.

Generally, the home appears to be very clean. The manager comes across as extremely professional and courteous, always on hand to answer any questions or queries that might come up. Staff are equally of a friendly manner and appear to be very attentive. My mother seems happy and the working overall
atmosphere seems very relaxed and comfortable. Mother is at her most mobile for the last few years thanks to the dedication of the home. Thank you!!

Tom Lovell has worked in health and social care for over 14 years.


He has been managing care homes for the last 7 years in residential/nursing homes, commissioning newly built care homes and he enjoys the challenge of improving the quality of care for people living with dementia.


Tom loves his job as every day is different. He loves to see the joy on residents' faces when they join in new activities and experiences in the home. He enjoys seeing the team he leads rise up through the roles to reach their full potential. He believes that if he looks after his team, the team will look after the residents.
