I am writing to thank all the staff at Dunniwood for all the care and attention they have provided my mum and dad over the last couple of months since they moved in. Unfortunately, dad passed away earlier this month but the support both my mum and all the family have received from the manager and all
the staff has been amazing. Mum is the happiest I have seen her in the last couple of years even though dad has only just passed away and that says a lot for everybody at Dunniwood. There is plenty to keep her occupied and she acts as though she is one of the staff, probably because she was a nursing sister! I have no hesitation in recommending Dunniwood to anybody who is looking for a warm, friendly care home for their loved ones in Doncaster.

My mother has been a full-time resident at Dunniwood Lodge for over 18 months now and before that had a number of stays there as respite user. The atmosphere is wonderful, the rooms are bright and staff are always friendly and helpful, any problems are quickly resolved by a manager who is very approachable.
The food is great, made in their own kitchens and there's always a good variety and choice. I would certainly recommend Dunniwood Lodge to my friends should they need a nice place for a relative to stay either permanent or in respite.

My sister, aged 84, was admitted to Dunniwood Lodge in Jan 2016. She had taken a decision that she wanted to die and had largely given up eating.
She was totally depressed, unkempt and had no interest in anything or anybody. Within three months she had improved greatly and this improvement has
continued until now she is totally back to the interesting and contended lady she once was.
She loves it in Dunniwood and has made many friends amongst the staff. She is still a little reserved with the residents, but is completely content in her own room watching TV or reading, leaving occasionally to attend one of the many weekly activities or musical events.
I cannot thank the staff enough for the love and care they gave to her as they gently nurtured her back to her former self.
What a total transformation. I cannot recommend Dunniwood Lodge any higher. It is a great place to be when you need supported living. I would not hesitate to move in should the need ever arise.

This setting is above outstanding. The level of care, respect and understanding the home provides to their residents and family members is second to none.
There is an open door policy to visit or stay over with your relative and all your needs are met equally to any resident while you are there.
The
staff never patronise or show any sign of lack of empathy or patience they did an outstanding job with my Mum.

My mother and father were both cared for in a compassionate, loving way at the end of their lives. My mother has been a resident for over 6 years and was cared for as a member of the family. She was used to the staff and was most grateful for their kindness.
My father was a resident for 4 years and
although no double room was available to them, my parents had bedrooms next door to one another. The food was freshly prepared and has improved over the years, as has the laundry service. I cannot fault the care and respect received.

I visited most of the homes along Bawtry Road, the reason was to be close to my home for easy access from my home, I found Dunniwood Lodge to be the best in that it was a purpose built care home as opposed to an old house conversion, it was very friendly and homely. My Mother once settled, change and
acceptance of the need for care are difficult, I can say the staff made the transition as easy as possible, supportive and knowledgeable in their approach to this difficult time for her and the family. I would most certainly recommend Dunniwood Lodge as a home from home to any prospective resident.

Very happy with service from start to finish. The Manager is very knowledgeable and helpful in liaising with other agencies. Only used for respite care at the moment but would be happy for Mum to stay on a permanent basis as very clean and staff helpful, she was happy there.

Mum was very nervous on her first visit to the home, she was 91 years old and had never stayed anywhere on her own and she was made to feel wanted and special which eased her fears. I found the manager to be approachable and when I asked for my mum to have a downstairs room instead of the one allocated
upstairs she was happy to oblige.

Mum's room was nicely furnished, clean and well decorated with a pleasant outlook (she said she'd like the same room if possible on her next visit). The room also had a separate toilet, washbasin and a small table. Mum said the room was adequate for her needs but said that on her previous visit she had a reclining chair and within a few minutes she had a recliner.

All the carers, handyman and office staff were all friendly, sociable and efficient. Mum loved her bath as she only has showers at home, also having her hair done on site which was very reasonable priced. I would not hesitate to recommend Dunniwood Lodge.

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.530)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.530) out of 10 for Dunniwood Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.914 for Dunniwood Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (32 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 35 Ratings = 4.914

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.616 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Dunniwood Lodge is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 41 registered maximum number of service users is 8.2. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.2 = 0.366

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
