I am a resident at Clarence House since November 2017. I think you can't grumble about the care in here and I think the care is generally good. I get on very well with all the carers and the manager and assistant manager. It feels like a home. My family and friends are coming regularly and enjoy visiting
them in the reception area. I have no concerns since I am living in here.
My stepdaughter would like to decorate the room to my own taste which has been allowed by the home.

My mother has Vascular Dementia among other things, and was very unsettled and agitated when she first entered care because she wanted to be at home. Unfortunately it became totally impossible for me to continue as her carer at home due to her deteriorating condition, which needed expert management.
But the staff soon made her feel comfortable and settled, and she is now very happy and content with her new surroundings. The manager and her team work well together in the interests of all the residents, despite some of them being a challenge due to their physical and/or mental health debilities. I am completely satisfied with the care that my mother is now receiving at Clarence House.

My father spent his last few weeks at Clarence House. All the staff were excellent, from care staff to administrative and ancillary staff through to the management team. I have visited a wide range of care homes in various capacities over the years and none of them have been better than Clarence House
in terms of the quality of care offered.

A lovely, friendly place for anyone to live, extremely clean and the food is amazing. After having to make this very difficult decision to put our mum into a care home, we have felt that she is safe and secure.
I would definitely recommend this home to anyone. Thank you for caring for our mum, we
are so much more at ease as a family.

I worked for Royal Mail for 34 years and delivered to many nursing/residential homes and I can honestly say that this is the best home I have seen and been into. My wife is a nurse and a former carer and I think it is better than the one even she worked in.

Mum has resided at this home since 2012 and has always been very well cared for. The staff are welcoming and have been very supportive during the difficult times due to Mum's health. The management have implemented many improvements to the home over the years which have been beneficial to residents,
staff and visitors.

I am extremely happy with the care my mum receives. All of the staff are caring and helpful and do their utmost to help whilst being able to maintain a sense of humour at the same time, which I feel is important and they treat my mum with dignity at all times. The meals are fantastic and my mum really
enjoys them. The home is always very clean and tidy. There are also plenty of activities going on to keep the residents occupied. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home.

Mum loves the place, she has been in Highgrove for a number of years and knows everyone loves her too. Lovely activities lady who is so bubbly and pleasant and takes mum to the shops which she really enjoys. She also has her hair done every week and someone comes in every week to do exercises with them.
Lovely staff and manager. Keep up the good work.

My wife of sixty years has been in Highgrove Manor Care Home since 2012. Initially, some problems but adequately dealt with. Since that time and I visit regularly I can say that year on year Highgrove has progressively got better.
The staff and management are extremely pleasant and helpful in every
way. In particular dealing with my wife's health problems. I couldn't wish for my wife to be elsewhere

Over the last six months, Mum has improved her movement in both her arms and legs. This has improved due to the exercise classes she attends alongside the other service user. The lady doing the classes is doing an excellent job.

Mum has attended a couple of outdoor activities which have been excellent

for her eg seaside and the theatre. Knowing in advance that she is going on these activities helps stimulate her mind, talking about it when we visit.

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.785)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.785) out of 10 for Clarence House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.472 for Clarence House is calculated as follows: ( (49 Excellents x 5) + (34 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 89 Ratings = 4.472

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.313 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Clarence House is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 78 registered maximum number of service users is 15.6. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 15.6 = 0.513

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
