Broadacres Care home is purpose-built home based in a quiet residential area in Parkgate, near Rotherham town centre. There's plenty of parking for relatives, and the location benefits from good transport links into town.

High-quality person-centred care is designed for older people living at the home. Care services include dementia care, short and long care stays, plus respite care is available for those that need a break.

There are over 50 tastefully decorated bedrooms at the home, which are furnished with TV aerial sockets, Wifi and and nurse call systems. There is also wheelchair access.

Three spacious lounge areas are available for residents to socialise in, or to simply relax and enjoy quiet time. The conservatory is also a favourite area for people to relax and unwind.

Tasty and nutritious meals are prepared daily by the home's talented chef.

Broadacres welcomed my mum in September this year, she was at a crisis point with her dementia, and my dad was struggling to cope. The home manager was friendly, approachable and welcoming, and she helped make a very difficult situation a lot more straightforward.
The staff are wonderful and take
good care of my mum, and are all very familiar with my mum's wants and needs. I live a few hours away from the home, so the communication from the home is very reassuring. Mum came as emergency respite, and is now there permanently and has settled in well.

I feel all my husband's needs are being met. The rooms are nice and clean. The staff are very understanding of all my needs too. Didn't want my husband to go in care and didn't know what to expect, but feel happy about his care and support. He always looks clean and tidy.

Dad was placed at Broadacres after discharge from the hospital. Unfortunately, he did not receive the care needed for his injuries as the staff were not trained to attend to his needs. Knowing this, the care home should not have accepted dad as a resident. The home itself is tired and dated but some
basic standards are overlooked e.g. staff/residents are allowed to smoke next to the door of the lounge where the smoke blows back inside. The green space where residents sit outside is untidy and dirty. I was constantly pointing out dad's care needs.

We take all feedback seriously and were dismayed to read your comments about the care your dad received. We don’t have a record of any formal complaint made by yourself, could we call you to discuss things in more detail?
We work alongside social workers and the hospital to ensure that all potential residents are placed appropriately. When dad was admitted to Broadacres he could barely walk and was underweight. While with us we worked closely with the physiotherapists so that when it came time for dad to transfer to a nursing home he could bear his own weight, walk using a frame and had put on weight. We have no doubt that our staff helped dad to regain his health and independence; we believed that you were happy with these improvements and we hope dad continues to go from strength to strength.


We can only apologise about the décor of our home. As with all Care Providers, we routinely uplift the décor on a rolling program, this was interrupted by the pandemic but has now recommenced.

My Dear Mom has been a resident at Broadacres since Dec 2019. From the moment you walk through the door you sense a genuine home from home atmosphere. The staff/carers are amazing, approachable and treat my Mom as they would their own. When we visit her she is always happy and smiling and I wouldn't
wish her to be anywhere else!

My mum is visiting Broadacres for two weeks respite. The care she has had has been outstanding. The staff are all very caring and look after my mum as if she were their own. We were all very apprehensive about leaving Mum for the first time, but our minds were quickly put at rest when we visited the
next day and saw how settled she was. A special thank you to two ladies, who my mum has developed a bond with; they have been wonderful.

Since my mother came to Broadacres a few months ago, she's been like a new woman. She seems happy and has started gaining weight. She also appears much smarter in appearance, and this suggests she's getting the care she needs.

The staff are very good with everything, nothing is too much trouble. They also have a lot of fun with everyone, making them laugh. The meals are really good. I would recommend this care home to everyone. I can't fault it in any way. My mother is very happy here.

Since my parent-in-law first came to Broadacres two months ago, they have been met with kindness and compassion by all staff. They and other residents are treated with dignity and our concerns are dealt with as soon as they are raised. We know, through conversations with staff, that care is being reviewed
on an ongoing basis and that all staff are vigilant of changing and increasing care requirements.

My neighbour came to Broadacres after a long spell in hospital and intermediate care. He is very happy and the care is excellent. The staff are cheerful and helpful. The place is light and airy and extremely clean.

Our friend whose 89 was taken in for respite with severe bed sores and M.S. Staff have been helpful and friendly and they do seem to care. Her bedsores have improved markedly with the regular bed turning routine.


Concerns: The initial involvement between home/her GP/the homes district nurse seems

to have been resolved now.


Her diet at times has been somewhat unappetising - reduced to a mush when she can eat soft foods.

At Broadacres, we are aligned with a specific GP and District Nursing Team, based on our Geographical Location. We communicate and feedback to both professional teams on a regular basis, so I am more than happy to speak to them on your behalf or invite them to attend a meeting.


We also work closely with the Speech and Language Therapy Team who assess and deliver specific advice to individuals and the staff team that support them, with swallowing difficulties. Our Catering Manager is also willing to discuss this in depth with you, and detail the specific recommendations by the SALT team.
