Beechy Knoll implemented high standards of care with a person centred approach.

Visitors are invited into the home to discuss the possible future care of their loved ones.

Beechy Knoll is located on the south side of the city of Sheffield, close to the motorway and is accessible by public transport, and close to local amenities. Beechy Knoll is located in pleasant grounds and has a spacious interior and good disabled access, making it ideal for a relaxing lifestyle. The staff are friendly and highly skilled.

Throughout the four years that my mother was at Beechy Knoll, the care was of the highest standard. The team are diligent and professional, with a huge dollop of humour mixed in there. During my mother's final days, the care that both, she, and the family received was of the highest order.

I did not agree with the way the alarm system worked in my room. A carer came in to ask what was the problem, you advised them, then a different carer came in and had to explain all over again. Had a fall and it took two hours for someone to come and see to me.

I am sorry to hear that this lady felt that she had an unpleasant stay at Beechy Knoll. I have looked into the comments made, this lady had a fall prior to her stay at Beechy Knoll, where she sustained an injury to her finger, I believe this lady is mixing her recent fall at home with Beechy Knoll, staff report this lady was very pleasant and enjoyed her stay, she participated in activities and ate well during her stay. We would be more than happy to welcome this lady back to Beechy Knoll.

Staff at Beechy Knoll have an excellent rapport with people of all ages, bringing their attention to detail with the residents and their family members.
Communication, analytical and people skills are excellent from the staff and the care they have provided to my grandmother has been tremendous, giving
us much needed peace of mind. The staff introduce lots of fun activities which without a doubt brings much happiness and laughter to all the residents, daily.
The staff firmly believe that every resident receives care that is completely tailored to their individual needs, regardless of any medical condition they may have. The dementia care they’ve delivered to my grandmother has been carefully balanced, ensuring that she never feels like her independence or dignity has been compromised. Above all, the dedicated staff work with professionalism, warmth, compassion and understanding, delivering person-centred dignified care. Forever grateful to all staff for the 5-star service they provide.

Our dad had cared for Mum for 8 years, is in his eighties, was in poor health at the time and felt he could no longer do this, thankfully due to a good network of support from Social Care Services part of the decision was a positive that Mum needed 24 hour care. Our mum is a resident at Beechy Knoll
in Sheffield were she is cared for with compassion, dignity and respect from all members of the team. We have experienced second to none communication from management and staff throughout and we feel that this is due to good leadership and team work in the home, and when you visit it feels like the home is hugging you, that is why we also chose Beechy Knoll. Beechy Knoll has a strong feeling of community spirit and inclusion for all residents and well organised activities.
Massive thank you to all and how Beechy Knoll have worked hard to keep Mum safe in what are very difficult times they are all our heroes.

The level of care given by the staff is consistently excellent. Much thought and effort go into providing activities and entertainment for the residents in addition to their personal care needs. We were able to furnish my mother's room with her own furniture and effects, which made things so much more
familiar and comfortable for her. She is thriving in the relaxed, and homely environment created by the staff and management at Beechy Knoll.
In the current challenging environment resulting from the Covid crisis, Beechy Knoll has shown much innovation in keeping residents connected with loved ones and, with no Covid cases to date, much dedication and determination.
Thank you all for looking after Mum so well.

Thank you for this review, the team at Beechy Knoll are exceptional and have shown so much care and understanding during this unprecedented time, always ensuring residents are enjoying their lives, our Activity Co-ordinator ensures residents are doing what interests them, there is something for everyone every day. Keeping Covid 19 out of the home has been an ongoing struggle, but all the hard work has paid off. We will continue to keep up the high standards of infection control and continue to ensure residents and staff are happy and work towards the gradual easing of the lockdown. We are looking forward to inviting back visitors in the near future, I am sure you will all understand this is being managed by the Corona Crisis Management Team at Pearlcare who have resident's and staff's best interest at heart.

I would just like to express how wonderful, caring and compassionate all the staff at Beechy Knoll care home have been toward my late father and his family. The care he received from the care home was outstanding and all the staff at Beechy Knoll couldn't do enough for us all. Everything and everyone
needs to be praised for the care and attention we received as a family.

Thank you to everyone at Beechy Knoll care home for the outstanding care you gave to my father and his family.

My Mum went into Beechy Knoll for respite care on May 22nd 2018 but sadly her health deteriorated and she was put on 'end of life care' on 8th June.
The care she received was absolutely excellent.
Staff were caring and friendly and Mum was always kept clean.
She passed away in Beechy Knoll on June
27th and the staff couldn't have been more kind and thoughtful.

My mother was cared for with dignity and attention to detail by a committed, professional and happy staff team.
She was known to all staff including those involved in cleaning, catering, and management.
Facilities were good, clean and secure at all times and Mum was treated as an individual, always
carefully dressed and allowed to develop her own routines, friends, and activities.
The atmosphere of the home is a happy one with management both leading and involved with day to day care.
Staff have clear roles and responsibilities and are always available to help.
Above all, I commend the level of care and warmth shown by staff in roles and at all levels throughout the establishment.
Thank you Beechy Knoll for caring for Mum.

Even though our experience at this Care Home was short, we have nothing but praise for all the staff. They were all very professional but also friendly and very caring. The rooms and facilities were all spotlessly clean.
After our Dad moved into the Care Home we knew that he was safe and well looked
after. He was settling in well and we all felt that he was very comfortable there.
We would not hesitate to recommend this Care Home.

From the first contact with the home to the sudden death recently of my father, I could not have asked for better support, advice, guidance and help from the deputy manager. When dad moved in, the welcome, care and kindness was both warm and professional. Every effort was made to help him adjust and
his condition improved noticeably. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, day or night and his relationship with them all was excellent.

My dad came in for respite which had to be extended. The management team have helped tremendously during this time from early December to February. The caring side of the staff has been brilliant with care, compassion and dignity. My dad has really come on during his stay. If things don't work out at

Vast improvements have been achieved in all areas since the management change. The facilities and activities are extremely good thanks to the entertainments worker who works tirelessly with the management to please all of the residents and families with shows aimed at the age groups most in attendance.
This provides stimulus and fun for all and the management and staff all join in to give pleasure to all. 'Well done'

I've just returned after a lovely short stay in Beechy Knoll whilst my carer/husband had a planned operation. Finding temp carers proved impossible for my social worker but Beechy Knoll Managers stepped in and were very responsive, visiting me on the next working day.

Being only 54 but needing hoisting,

it was a strange thought to be going into a care home. The wonderful, kind, professional care staff made me feel extremely deserving of their attention and care and nothing was too much trouble. I even joined in with some of the full time activity co-ordinator's fab activities, including a fab Christmas sing song! The food was very well cooked and varied. The new decor and the attention to every detail was lovely and the high level of cleanliness meant no lingering smells of urine, unlike other homes I have visited.

I have to say that I no longer have any fear of ending up in a care home due to my Multiple Sclerosis. I would be more than happy to return to Beechy Knoll.

Mum was a resident at Beechy Knoll for 6 months. She sadly passed away on 2nd October.
Mum received excellent care whilst at Beechy Knoll. The staff and management there are amazing. Patient, kind, genuine, caring for the residents and family who visit. I live in France so could not visit Mum as often
as I liked, but when I rang, the staff would always take time to reassure me and ensure I had a full update on Mum's health. They knew her!!

When entering the premises you immediately get the feeling of stepping into someones home. It has a welcoming, homely feel to it. What it lacks in modern decor it makes up for 10 fold in a welcoming, positive environment. The staff do an amazing job and are so patient. There are creative activities, treatments for residents, shows and lots of social activities to keep residents active and occupied. The food is also good and residents are monitored at all times.

I would not hesitate to recommend Beechy Knoll as a care home for your loved one.

My mum stayed at Beechy Knoll for 1 weeks respite and loved it, So much that when the time came to go into a care home she wanted this one. The staff are brilliant and the food is good, I know as I've stayed for tea. There is also always something going on for them to do.

Beechy Knoll has a really good atmosphere.
The staff and management, who are visible and very approachable put themselves out to help you and explain things.
You don't feel you are visiting an institution but a big, happy family home.
Any issues are dealt with immediately and feedback is excellent.
Residents
and family meetings are held regularly.
Mum says she "likes it here" - something that reassures me no end.
All thanks to the new management.

Visited a lady whom has been our family friend from "the war days", whom we call our aunty. Visited every day for five years. We picked Beechy Knoll Care Home as this is next door to our home. We never looked back to this day (8th July 2017) when my aunty sadly died.
The magnificent new manager made
brilliant necessary changes. Wonderful, caring, dedicated staff. Very clean, excellent meals, nice approach to building etc.

Up till October 2016, I was so very concerned about management and staff issues. A new manager was appointed, we have had meetings and spoke at regular times. I feel as though I have been listened to and now feel more than confident that all past issues have been resolved and look forward to the future,
sharing and being totally honest. I now trust the manager 100%.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.100)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.100) out of 10 for Beechy Knoll is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.750 for Beechy Knoll is calculated as follows: ( (59 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.75

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.35 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Beechy Knoll is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.75

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
