Located in the peaceful, leafy suburb of Sharrow, Grange Crescent is spacious and homely, with wide hallways, big rooms, and beautiful grounds, including garden seating and a cosy conservatory. Meals are freshly prepared with a wide range of options. There are many activities: weekly 'movement to music' sessions, bike rides through 'Cycling Without Age', and regular visits from children through the 'Adopt a Care Home' scheme.

The activity team brings fun and creativity each day, and the minibus driver takes residents on outings, like a recent trip to Chatsworth. Rooms are all en-suite, and residents can bring personal touches—some even bring pets!

When new residents arrive, the team ask what makes them comfortable, ensuring that Grange Crescent feels like home. Everyone here has the freedom to live their way, from choosing when to get up and go to bed to enjoying meals whenever they like. Cooked breakfasts, snacks, and drinks are always available, and residents are welcome to host their own parties with help, including baking cakes.

They promote independence with an open front-door policy and no restrictions on visiting. Residents can enjoy a glass of wine with dinner, a whisky nightcap, or even a trip to the pub, and the team are setting up an in-house bar. A hairdresser visits twice weekly, and Grange Crescent hosts a monthly church service, with additional options to attend services at the synagogue. Doctors, chiropodists, and district nurses visit regularly.

The team always welcome feedback from residents and families to improve care and ensure everyone’s needs are met.

Sheffcare’s goal is to deliver high-quality care at a fair price, offering great value compared to many other providers in the city.

My brother has been a resident for almost five years, and both he and the family are very pleased with the care he has received. He is supported and well cared for; the management and staff are approachable, and any issues have been dealt with quickly and satisfactorily. We all feel very fortunate to
have discovered Grange Court, and I would recommend it to anyone.

My mum celebrated her 103rd birthday last week, and the staff and management could not have done more to make her day more memorable. I was obviously able to go and other friends and relatives were there but for those who do not have any visitors, it is so good to know that the staff are prepared to
go that extra mile to make things better for residents at special times.

Grange Crescent staff gave our dad excellent care for the short time he was with them. He died within five days of returning from the hospital. All staff cared for him with care and compassion and extended that to us as family members too. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They took full responsibility
for his care and delivered it to a high standard with a holistic approach but also allowed us to assist in that care too. They liaised with other healthcare professionals, including the community nursing team, Hospice Care Home team and Intensive Home Nursing team, so that he had the best care at the end of his life.
All the team showed dedication and commitment to making this part of Dad’s life as good as it could be. We highly recommend them for the end of life care they provided for Dad.
Thank you.

Current Review Score: 8.1 (8.093)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.1 (8.093) out of 10 for Grange Crescent is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 5.000 for Grange Crescent is calculated as follows: ( (12 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.093 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Grange Crescent is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 54 registered maximum number of service users is 10.8. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.8 = 0.093

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
