Mam has been in Croft House Care Home since January 2019 and has had wonderful care from all the staff. We, as a family, are kept informed about her health and if she has hospital appointments. Nothing is too much trouble for them, I would have no hesitation in recommending Croft House to people, excellent
care home.

My first encounter with the manager and staff was the caring empathy that I saw for all residents. I knew straight away this was where I wanted my mum to spend the last of her days. It was an unsettling time for Mum as when she entered Croft House Care Home she had to isolate for three weeks. As a family,
we were heartbroken for Mum but so was all the staff that worked there. They contacted us all the time letting us know how Mum was and we could ring any time of the day. Once over, we visited all the time and were welcomed by all the staff. I have made lovely friends with all of them. They are so caring and they all love my mum and she feels the same way about them. I can be at home knowing she is being cared for in a professional and loving way which helps me to be more happy at home. My mum is 100 and what a lovely party they put on in the summer outside for her, it is something my family will never forget. I would recommend anyone with dementia, Alzheimer's or any illness to put loved ones in Crofts care.

Reply from Vicky Bateman, Owner at Croft House Care Home

So glad you enjoyed the party for your mum, we celebrate all birthdays with a cake, party buffet etc. but we do try and do something special for those “very special birthdays”.

My mum has been a resident at Croft House Care Home since January 2022 and has been well treated by everyone involved in her care at what was a very difficult time moving from her home of over thirty years.
The staff have been very accommodating and have done everything possible to make her very comfortable,
even taking the time to make her room look a bit more like her own home with some of her favourite possessions.
I can wholeheartedly recommend Croft House if you’re looking for a good quality care home with caring staff to provide a friendly, homely atmosphere for your loved one.

Excellent in every way.
Mum has vascular dementia and has been at Croft House Care Home since September 2018.
The staff are wonderful, professional, dedicated and genuinely care about all the residents.
The owner is hands-on, effectively managing his team and always available.
Croft House is a
true home from home, with a family feel, where Mum feels loved and is very happy.

My father was reluctant to enter a care home but is now very happy at Croft House Care Home. He is more active and well cared for. He looks so much better, even in the few weeks that he’s been there. The event days are entertaining for the residents and the staff are very caring and helpful.

Reply from Vicky Bateman, Owner at Croft House Care Home

Thank you for your review. We often find that people are nervous about the move to a care home but it can be a positive experience. People tend to be less lonely, eat better and are able to take part in many activities.

Outstanding care and the staff are always available to talk to. My mother has been in the care home for three years and she was very ill when she went in Croft House Care Home and only given a short period of time to live. But due to their care and support, she's still smiling. She is kept very clean
and her bedroom is tidy and safe with all the amenities she needs. The high standard of care extends to the implementation of a controlled environment due to Covid.
The food is to a high standard and is tailored to my mother's requests.

Reply from Vicky Bateman, Owner at Croft House Care Home

Thank you for your review, we try really hard with the food and do try and cater to everyone's differing tastes and diets. Residents can have whatever they want, some residents enjoy a glass of wine with their lunch sometimes.

My mum has been a resident at Croft House Care Home since New Year's Eve 2020 – mid-Covid-19 with all its restrictions.
The quality of care exceeds my expectations. A lovely home with wonderful staff who treat Mum with dignity and respect.
Mum has dementia, time has been taken to get to know Mum's
needs, her likes and dislikes, and her sense of humour! The dedicated staff make Mum's life happy and content.
Croft House is a clean, well-run home with excellent management.
Mum has a nice room which is always clean and smelling fresh, with a lovely view of the garden.
Lots of stimulating activities take place within the home and also regular outings in the minibus.
I cannot fault the communication between Croft House and myself. I am always kept up to date with Mum’s health and wellbeing and informed, without fail, if any health issues arise.
A shining example of our older generation receiving the best care and being encouraged to live life to the full in their final years.

Acting as Licenced Power of Attorney I and my wife moved our friend from a care home which had closed and found the care offered by Croft House and the staff to be excellent from the moment our friend arrived. The warmth of their welcome certainly made what could have been a very stressful change an
easy and calming move. Our friend was resident for 12 months and was always full of praise for the care and attention she received, commenting as well on the quality of food served. This was particularly valued during the Covid 19 pandemic. Sadly due to age and underlying health conditions, our friend became very frail and the end of life care she received was exemplary. She was surrounded by the care and love of the staff in her final days, I was able to visit her and she passed away peacefully and pain-free.
Throughout her time at Croft House, both I and other friends were impressed by the warmth and friendliness of all the staff and I know that our friend was happy and settled in her home.

My sister was a resident at Croft House for five years. She had vascular dementia and throughout her time there she received excellent appropriate care and support to meet all her needs.
All the staff were well trained and always loving and caring to my sister.
My sister was always smiling, happy,
and content when we saw her joining in the regular frequent events and activities. The Christmas parties were always a joy.
My brother and I live in distant parts of the country and it has always been a comfort to us to know how content, well cared for and loved by everyone at the Croft House.
Throughout the 5 years, the staff kept us well informed of developments, activities and about my sister’ care particularly in the difficult circumstances of the last 10 months.
The end of life care my sister received was excellent. We had daily conversations with staff, and the sympathetic and dignified support and guidance we were given during that time and after were excellent.

Dad was a resident at Croft house for 16 months. We thought Croft House compared favourably with others in the area, however, Dad chose Croft House because he was made to feel very welcome and it’s homeliness and staff being very friendly.
Dad enjoyed his time there, particularly the excursions,
entertainment, the regular visits to the local tea dance and the excellent food. We were very pleased with the care dad received knowing he was in a safe place and being well looked after.

Our 92-year-old mother was resident for one week at Croft House for respite care. This was an urgent request, just before Christmas and organised very efficiently in a matter of days. We found the home very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. She was made welcome immediately and the care she
received was very professional but warm and caring. Her room was homely and comfortable with fresh flowers already on the windowsill. The homecooked food was of a high standard and a good choice was available. A tray of tea and biscuits was always offered when visiting and all the staff were very attentive even when they were obviously busy.
There was always a lot going on, our Mum liked to stay in her room and watch television but was encouraged to join in if she wanted with no pressure. The owner is very hands-on and everything is geared towards what is best for the clients as opposed to the clients having to fit in with how the home is run.

My experience of Croft House was first from my father having to be admitted in December 2017. Unfortunately, he passed away in the home in July 2018, as upsetting as this was I was very happy with how he was cared for at the end and how well they treated me. Therefore when my mother was unable to be
looked after at home I did not hesitate to approach Croft House again. My mother also appreciated how well they had cared for my father and was happy to move to the home, knowing she could no longer cope and be safe in her own home.

Residents treated with great respect from staff and management. Individual needs catered for. Staff are very welcoming when you visit offering tea, coffee etc. They also make you aware if there are any problems. Activities are excellent, taking residents out that are able, ie canal trips, for a drive
around Thee Dales and even to Boundary Hills which my Aunt thought was wonderful. My praise to all staff for being so caring.

Always welcomed when visiting asked if we wanted a drink, invited to activities eg. Boat trips, Polish Night. Told about how mother is doing and if she has needed any treatment, told about when the hairdresser has been. When visiting staff they are always busy caring and entertaining residents, activities,
music and massage. The food menu displayed and birthdays celebrated.

My mother has been a resident at Croft House for 5 years and she has been very well cared for. Health issues are picked up quickly and dealt with. Every day there are different activities and a minibus takes residents out twice a week along with barge trips in the summer. Different events throughout
the year are celebrated eg., Easter, Halloween, with the staff taking part. It is a small, very friendly home and I have full knowledge that my mother is in good, safe hands. Even the small touches mean a lot, like having fresh flowers in the home and the latest addition of budgerigars to keep the residents stimulated. I can highly recommend Croft House.

It was the hardest decisions to make, when following a severe stroke, my mum had to go to a care home in her 95th year. I felt no one could deliver the care and attention she would expect and therefore I was greatly relieved to find Croft House which embraced a homely and family atmosphere.
The staff
are warm and welcoming and intuitive to the needs of each person and deliver care competently, compassionately yet in a professional manner. My mum was always well cared for with dignity and her independence preserved.
Meals were always prepared to meet my mum's requirements with additions to tempt her on difficult days.
I cannot show enough appreciation to Croft House for their delivery of high standards in care and commitment and a great big thank you is extended to all staff including those who beaver away in the background providing housekeeping, maintenance and entertainment.
Towards the end of her life my mum received excellent palliative care but sadly she died in September 2018.

My mum is 91 and can be challenging. The staff at Croft House Care Home are always kind and patient with her and do their best to keep her connected and calm. The atmosphere is friendly and lively and there is a lot of activities laid on including a minibus for very welcome outings. I feel my mum is
safe and well cared for at Croft House Care Home at this time in her life when she can be confused and anxious.

Mum was a resident at Croft House for almost three years and we as a family were more than happy with the care she received there. All the staff were so kind and caring and would always make sure she was happy and content; in essence, Croft House provided "a Home from Home".
Nothing was too much

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.308)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.308) out of 10 for Croft House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.708 for Croft House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (52 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.708

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Croft House Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 29 registered maximum number of service users is 5.8, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
