My mother has severe dementia and is very vulnerable. She initially attended for daycare but later became resident. She is always treated with love and respect. As her condition has deteriorated staff have adjusted to the care she needs and take every step to make sure that she is safe and appropriately
cared for. She needs constant care and attention as she can do very little for herself but she receives patient and sensitive care. I am confident that she is content and comfortable in this setting. Staff are also attentive to the whole family and communication is excellent so that we always know how my Mum is doing, which is very reassuring.

My Gran joined Croft House in February 2017, after a short stay in a hospital. We are exceptionally pleased with the care she receives and the facilities provided. Over the last 10months she has built up some lovely relationships with her carers and nothing is ever too much trouble. The staff listen
to her needs and both management and staff are quick to respond to feedback.
There are lots of activities available to residents throughout the week and it was lovely to be invited to the residents Christmas party with all the family and join in carol singing one evening with her.
It is reassuring that she is regularly seen by a nurse and she also has the facilities of a hairdresser and chiropodist on site. She really enjoys the home cooked meals...particularly the steam puddings! Her room is always spotlessly clean alongside the general areas.
It was a big decision moving Gran into residential care but we feel she is safe, well cared for and we definitely made the right choice.

Caring, homely atmosphere, residents well cared for with entertainment, trips (where possible). Excellent meal provisions and care is taken to keep residents well hydrated.
Full understanding of patient and family's ceiling of care.
Delighted that each time my relative has been admitted to a hospital,
they went above and beyond and sent a carer with him (he has dementia) and provided food for him whilst at the hospital.
Very very happy with Croft House.

Mum has now been at Croft House for 3 and a half years.
Although there have been quite a few staff changes over the past few months the managers always employ very efficient and caring staff.
Mum is well looked after and my sister and I are always made welcome, as we both spend a lot of time there
this is an added bonus.

I am very pleased that my mother is being looked after in this friendly and happy family run care home. They put a lot of work into making sure the residents are safe, healthy and entertained.

I have never seen any resident just left in a chair and the staff always engage with them. They have entertainment

almost every day, and plenty of quiet places to sit if the person does not want to take part. There always seems to be something fun going on!

The best recommendation I can give is that I would be happy to live there if I needed care!

My mother has been in this care home since April 2016. Her younger sister was also in the same care home for about two and a half years.
As a result, I am familiar with the premises and the staff. I am very happy with the situation.

My mother is 88 years old suffering from parkinsons and cancer. Recently she contracted a chest infection which has caused her to remain in bed. The owners and staff have been first class. She is looked after totally receiving visits every half hour to attend to her, turning, washing, feeding, drinking
ect. She may not recover from this illness and I am confident that she will receive the best care possible in the remaining days at this very special care home.

I would recommend it to anyone. Every one has been kind and considerate to me and all our family when we visit and we trust them implicitly.

Mum was very well looked after at Croft House care home. She was reluctant to have to go in a care home but with the great staff and comfortable surroundings, she came to know the care home as her new home, of which she loved. Over the years mum was a resident, her health needs were always looked after
with care and dignity, even the end of life care was superbly administered. We as a family, could not praise all the staff and management team at the home enough.

Dad has been at Croft House for three years this January and in that time, he has been given a new lease of life, the care given is second to none, the entertainment is good and varied and he really looks forward to the twice-weekly outings in the Croft House minibus. I can only say that dad is a very
happy man!

Having spent many weeks looking at various care homes in the area, this was the one which impressed us most. Unfortunately, they had no vacancies but luckily in our case, we were able to take care of mum until a place became available. She is happy there with plenty of helpful, caring staff always on
duty. Would recommend.

My father is a resident at Croft House and has been a resident for 3 years. He has been treated with care and respect by all the staff from management to cleaners. My mother has been a resident at Croft House Care Home for over 11 years since she has been unable to live independently due to her advanced state of dementia. During her time as a resident at Croft House, she has been very well looked after; comfortable, safe and kept meaningfully occupied through
the wide range of activities which are on offer. The staff go the extra mile in order to ensure that all the residents feel happy, cared for and safe. We have never had any issues with my mother's care and we are very grateful to all the staff at Croft House for their excellent work and commitment towards the well-being of the residents.
We have always been made to feel welcome on our weekly visits and we appreciate the cups of tea or coffee which we are offered on arrival. We feel like members of the Croft House family and we greatly value the warm and friendly atmosphere at Croft House. It is very reassuring to know that my mother has been so well looked after in her senior years.

Our first impression of the care home was that it was small, cosy and friendly- very home from home. We have not been disappointed with our choice for our dear old friend. Auntie appears to be content in her surroundings. The food is home cooked and tasty. The staff are friendly, warm, caring and Auntie
is always clean and smartly dressed. We feel that she is safe and secure and happy and her needs are met. The owner is very approachable and confidentiality is prime.

My wife has been resident at Croft House for over two years with a serious progressive illness which has needed to be matched with equally progressive intensive care. Croft House has delivered the requisite standard of care throughout with sustained warmth and compassion.

Prior to Mum entering Croft House, she had spent just over three weeks at a local Resource Centre for "assessment". Whilst there, Mum lost nearly a stone in weight and for the fist time ever, she developed a bed sore. Mum was extremely unwell and yet after just one month of living at Croft House she
had regained almost all the weight and her bed sore had virtually disappeared. I attribute that to the outstanding physical, mental and emotional care she received from the dedicated staff.
Staff are encouraged to spend lots of time with the residents and any requests for help or assistance are dealt with quickly, efficiently and with kindness. (As a health care professional I have unfortunately visited too many care homes where completing endless paperwork is prioritised above the immediate needs of the residents).
Mum passed away in December, but it is very reassuring to know that Mum was in safe, competent, compassionate, loving and caring hands during her time at Croft House.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.308)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.308) out of 10 for Croft House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.708 for Croft House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (52 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.708

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Croft House Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 29 registered maximum number of service users is 5.8, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
