My mum has been residing at Rastrick Hall & Grance since August 2017. Before lockdown, early this year, I was able to visit Mum 3/4 times a week, could pop in any time, was always made very welcome with staff who I've got to know over these years. I've always found the staff very supportive for both
of us, very caring, loving, understanding and much appreciated, as I am Mum's only relative. It's been upsetting as with all other residents not being able to be visited by their families during covid lockdown, but think the staff do a brilliant job and pass them a big thank you for looking after my mum.

I am extremely satisfied with the care provided. The staff were especially helpful in bringing my mother to the funeral of her eldest son last year, something we could not do ourselves. We are very grateful specifically for this but also for their general care and concern.

Mum has been a resident at Rastrick Hall for almost 4 years. She passed away on Sunday. In all the time she has been there she has always been treated with respect despite her challenging behaviour towards the staff. I think the manager and her assistant ensure the home is a happy place. The staff always
appear to be content in their job probably despite their poor pay. They certainly deserve more.

My relative spent 10 months in Rastrick Hall. We chose it due to its close proximity to my own home.
A member of staff visited my Aunt to assess her needs and after that, I made my mind up after a guided tour of the home.
I visited every day and turned up at different times. All I saw was excellent
care to not only my Aunt but to all other residents, including some challenging ones.
The staff were friendly, helpful and polite but most of all they were caring.
While she was there, the home received an inadequate CQC report. For the life in me, I can't understand why. I never saw any of the allegations and like I say I was there every day.
I would not hesitate to send another family member to Rastrick Hall. The food is also very good, I'd recommend the Fishwhich.

We were very happy with the care and support provided even though it was only respite care. All the staff treated our friend with respect and were very friendly. The meals were good and staff were always popping in to have a quick word or chat. Our thanks to all your staff.

This has been the home of my grandmother for the last 4 years and thought her time there her health has deteriorated and she has been treated with support and dignity throughout. The staff are very good and really seem to care about the residents in there charge providing many varied and suitable activates
for all residents whatever their ability. They have always provided a happy and supportive home.

Over the last couple of months during her final few weeks, the staff have been providing support for both my grandma and our family during what has been a hard time for all and helped to provide a dignified and peaceful death.

My mother has been in the home for several years over which time she has been on the whole well cared for, particularly in difficult times. For instance, after hospital admission, they were very efficient in facilitating her return home. The care she receives is tailored to her needs and see her very
much as an individual.

My friend has been a resident at Rastrick Hall for the last five and a half years.
She regarded it as her home.
She had a good relationship with the staff and particularly enjoyed the banter.
I considered her to be well cared for and treated with respect.

I was possibly not quite ready for the clientele in this nursing home, most of them had problems far greater than mine.

However, the staff, from top to bottom made my stay (and others') as cheerful and inclusive as possible, given our diverse individual needs. Time passed quickly! I was able to come

and go indoors at will between activities, mealtimes and the very frequent offers of drinks. I much appreciated being able to watch TV in my room, especially in the evenings. I have nothing but praise for all those concerned in my care and send my grateful thanks and love to them all.

My mum lived in the dementia half of this care home for just over four years. Each floor consists of a small family of thirteen residents, with open plan dining and living room and ensuite single bedrooms. She was extremely well cared for by all the staff including management, carers, laundry and kitchen
and cleaning staff. She was always clean and staff were keen to engage her in conversation and tasks. Entertainment and activities are provided regularly by an activities coordinator and in between by visiting professionals. I was not happy she was in a home, but as she needed 24-hour care, this home was a very good alternative to her own home. I realised when she died that she had made herself a niche in a new community and that her dementia was another stage of her life in a care home. The staff enabled her to still have happy times and continue as a very much loved Mum and Grandma.

My wife has been a resident at Rastrick Hall & Grange for four and a half years until her recent death.
During her stay, she has received first class love and care in a homely environment by a good and dedicated staff, who would go beyond the call of duty.

The care and kindness offered by the staff are excellent. They, the staff, are always polite, listen well to residents, and encourage participation in activities even where these are refused. The home is always immaculately clean and the communal rooms homely in arrangement. There is a limited choice
of meals but alternatives are suggested. This may be because of factors outside the control of the staff.

The staff are quick to notice when the residents need to be seen by a doctor and the local surgery very supportive.

Mum wasn't at Rastrick Hall for long and was suffering from ongoing UTI's during her time there so her behaviour was often challenging. The staff were unfailingly kind and patient with her and always made me feel welcome whichever times of day I visited.

The home was comfortable, clean and well lit.

Food was excellent, communications from the home were very good and I was kept informed about mum's care. I was treated with compassion and sensitivity in the wake of mum's sudden and unexpected death.

I have been pleasantly surprised to find such a warm and caring environment for my mum. The staff are caring, friendly, helpful and supportive. This alone is enough to keep us happy, the rest of the service provided is of a good standard.

I have recently been involved in mum's care plan as we are

new to the home and I must mention that two members of staff, in particular, have been very approachable and caring.

An extremely well-run operation with polite, efficient staff in all areas. On behalf of my late mother in law both my wife and I are very grateful for the way in which she was cared for, we always felt she was in safe hands. She often commented 'what a wonderful hotel' it was or referred to it as 'her
home', praise indeed, it defines The Grange perfectly.
Every single member of staff was also compassionate and caring right up to her death at the age of 96 in September this year, we could not have asked for better attention. A really exceptional home, the best.

My mother was a resident for some two years prior to her death at 96. She was treated with care, compassion, understanding, friendliness and respect. Mum had dementia but thought Rastrick Grange was her home and a 'nice hotel'.
She was always smiley which told me she was happy and felt secure and
cared for. The management and staff all go beyond the call of duty to make Rastrick a happy environment for them all to live and work in harmony.
The Grange is open for visitors 24/7 and always pleasant staff available for a chat, information or help for your relative. A 5-star care home in my opinion.

Mum spent the four years up to her death in August at Rastrick Grange suffering from dementia which meant eventually that she was unable to speak, feed herself or walk. (The last due to a broken hip from a fall.)
Throughout this time she was always treated with love, care, respect and dignity.
Mum's
own feelings towards her carers were clearly evident during our visits from the frequent smiles she gave to all members of staff as they interacted and chatted with her.
We, as visitors, were always welcomed and time was taken with us to include and inform us regarding mum's care and well-being.
We can't thank the staff enough for their help, support and kindness throughout these four years.

Current Review Score: 8.2 (8.153)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.2 (8.153) out of 10 for Rastrick Hall & Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 3.8 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 3.847 for Rastrick Hall & Grange is calculated as follows: ( (71 Excellents x 5) + (22 Goods x 4) + (15 Satisfactorys x 3) + (10 Poors x 2) + (19 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 137 Ratings = 3.847

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.306 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Rastrick Hall & Grange is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 79 registered maximum number of service users is 15.8. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 15.8 = 0.506

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
