Anchor's Sandholme Fold is located in a quiet residential area of Hipperholme. It is close to the centre of Halifax, with good transport links to surrounding areas, whilst being close to green spaces such as Woodhead Park and Shibden Park.

The dedicated care team creates detailed care plans for customers by taking the time to get to know individuals and working with them and their loved ones. Sandholme Fold continues to welcome new residents.

Meals are cooked fresh and from locally sourced and seasonal ingredients where possible by a highly trained Chef Manager and kitchen staff. Residents are able to access services such as hairdressing within the home.

Anchor is England’s largest provider of housing and care for those over 55 years of age and has 60 years of experience as a not-for-profit provider of services to older people.

My Mum is very settled at Sandholme Fold. The staff are very caring and they have become accustomed to my mum's needs and her medical condition. She does not have the best appetite and meals are not always to her liking, but there are always other options of food and snacks available. We appreciate
the care and love that is shown to my Mum any issues are dealt with quickly and efficiently and staff do their utmost to make her time at Sandholme Fold happy and safe, we are grateful to have found it.

Mum has been a resident at Sandholme for many years now. Staff have always treated mum as an individual, understood her mental health issues, and respected her way of wanting to live. Over the last couple of years mums physical health has deteriorated and her care needs have increased significantly.
These needs have been met well by all staff including managers, team leaders, care staff, admin, laundry, kitchen ,handyman and cleaners. Sandholme has an amazing group of staff, many who have been there for long periods, who treat mum with care, compassion, kindness, dignity and respect. They show a loving manner to mum and always manage to bring a smile to her face. The home is always clean and tidy, has lovely green surroundings, good food, and a warm welcome always awaits visitors. Staff are always available to discuss and address any concerns, and the managers door is always open.
A big thank you to all the team at Sandholme, your hard work and caring attitudes are appreciated.

My father arrived at Sandholme Fold on 21/5/24, he was greeted in to the care home with open arms, while he was there he had a lovely room and very helpful and friendly staff, it took him a couple of days to settle in but once he had time to see what the care home offered to him he was very happy, his
wife had been taken into hospital after a fall so he needed to be cared for and looked after as he has got a disability (right arm missing ) he is a very quiet person who keeps himself to himself so he enjoyed the care the staff gave him and the meals they provided, this definitely opened his eyes to the care home living. I would like to thank all the staff at Sandholme Fold, he left on 10/6/24 to move to a different care home to join his wife. Thank You for looking after him in a great way.

Mum has been at Sandholme for many years. Over the period she has been at Sandholme her health has deteriorated and her care needs have increased significantly. Her dementia has got to the point where she can't really understand what anyone says to her and she can't speak to tell anyone what she wants
or needs.
Over the Covid period, I was concerned at a dramatic weight loss and it seemed to take a long time before this was picked up and acted upon with special supplements in her food etc. My perception is that she lacked support from staff at this time with her eating and needed to have food appropriate to make it easier for her to eat and higher calories.
On more recent visits I believe that Mum is now taken to the restaurant for all meals and support is available for her requirements. Currently the quantity and quality of staff seem to have improved significantly and I don't have any significant concerns.

Overall, Mum is well cared for at Sandholme, and the home is a nice, safe place for her to live. Some of the staff are friendly and caring, but this is inconsistent. Mum's condition makes it hard to assess the overall care that residents receive. Sometimes we visit, and Mum and her room are clean and
tidy, other times, less so.

Mum has been a resident of Sandholme Fold for 18 months. During this time, Mum has been well cared for by staff who have expertly adapted to Mum's ever-changing needs. Sandholme Fold has many staff who have worked there for several years, and in their words, they consider themselves 'family'. I think
this is very important as a high turnover of staff would reflect an unsettled staff, and this certainly would not be in Mum's best interest. Everyone here is well-acquainted with Mum's character, and many show genuine love and affection for her. Everyone is professional and trustworthy. I have peace of mind knowing that Mum is safe and cosy. Sandholme Fold is clean and relatively modern and is surrounded by trees and gardens. Mum has a beautiful aspect from her room. Thank you, everyone.

Dad has come on in leaps and bounds since arriving at Sandholme.
The care he receives is right for his current needs, and should he require any further help, he just needs to ask.
He is involved with resident committee meetings, which is encouraged.
There are always activities at the home, along
with regular guests, school visits and outings, which he is keen to go on. The reality is that prior to coming to the home, Dad had falls every day at home. Since being at the home, given timely medications, meals encouraged fluids, etc, he has fallen zero times.
The staff are very good. They know their residents. Dad has capacity and has discussed with them if he has concerns. They will endeavour to sort or make relevant referrals. They have a good working relationship with the local GP surgery, who will discuss matters with the home or visit if needed.
After discussing concerns I may have had, I felt reassured by the responses and actions.

Happy staff who have time to listen to my concerns about my mother. My mother's room is clean and tidy. There are regularly organised events each week i.e. a choir, keep fit (exercises for the elderly that are not too difficult for them), crafts, bingo and church service. A themed outside event this
year is a Caribbean Summer Fayre, where relatives/friends and staff can interact with the residents and have food and fun. Furthermore, there will be a tombola and other stalls of interest.
My mother reassures me that she is happy at this wonderful care home by the smiles I receive when I visit her. I ask her each time I visit if she would like to come home; she tells me, 'I like it here. The staff are good and care for me'.
The residents enjoy good food and nourishment from the careful planning and attention to detail of what each resident likes/dislikes.
The garden is most suitable for the needs of the residents; clean, safe, an array of flowers, comfy seats and more.

Care for Mum has always been kind and considerate. The manager and staff are able to reassure the family using their expertise when discussing all aspects of Mum’s health, be it physical or mental. The support staff are also a key element to the good care Mum receives. Thank you.

Dad has been at Sandholme for over three years now and has vascular dementia. The staff in all areas of running the home work hard in maintaining a homely, safe environment for the residents. The carers are friendly and professional, and the excellent manager is always approachable. Dad doesn't join
in the activities, but there are regular events and things going on - it's great to see local schools getting involved to bridge the generation gap! We are very happy Dad is cared for at Sandholme Fold.

The home is clean, well furnished and has a garden to sit in. It has good food. Every room has a TV plus a toilet and wash basin. The rooms are cleaned regularly. Events are organised for us, such as bingo and a visiting artist, to help us improve our artwork. The staff are polite and helpful.

Mum moved into Sandholme in November. She is happy there. The staff are friendly, caring and helpful, and nothing is too much trouble, and they spend a lot of quality time with the residents. The atmosphere is lovely, and there is a lot of fun and laughter. The home is very clean. I have no hesitation
in recommending Sandholme as a care home for any family member.

The home is welcoming, and the care team are meeting my mother's care needs. Mum has advanced dementia. They keep myself and my family up to date, and I walk in there as an essential caregiver to ensure Mum's physical and routine baths are given regularly with their help. All managers, carers, domestic
and catering staff are friendly and approachable.

I feel it is a lovely care home, and I'm very pleased with the standard of care my dad is receiving. All the staff are lovely and always say hello to me. They are all very approachable and accommodating; this has been evident when I have asked for many things sorting for my dad. The team are very flexible
and keen to please my dad when he asks for something different for his meals; he is always accommodated, which is lovely to see. I asked my dad for his view on how he is cared for, and he said "very good", which is a testament itself. Thank you to the team!

It's now over four years since Mum came to Sandholme Fold. She continues to do well, emotionally and physically - for a 96-year-old - and this is down to the excellent care she receives. The staff have had a difficult time with the ongoing pandemic situation, which of course, affects the vulnerable,
but they continue to give excellent care and compassion and are always friendly and helpful to us. They always manage to make Mum smile, and if you knew how down she had been before coming to Sandholme, you'd see what a difference they've made.
