Mum spent 18 months at St Armands Court. At the beginning, she was fairly well with the beginning of Alzheimer's disease. She was less able to cope at home and was lonely. She instantly liked the home and the staff there and was looking forward to her time there. Over the 18 months, her health deteriorated
with various health-related problems. The staff coped very well with her changing needs and were able to manage her palliative care.
The home is very clean and fresh and it shows the standard of care taken to keep it top-notch for residents and visitors.
The staff are without exception absolutely brilliant. They treat the residents with care, compassion and dignity and as members of their own family, nothing is too much bother for them. They are never too busy to chat with visitors and have a laugh, always important.
The staff behind the scenes are also very helpful, especially as the whole experience is new to the family and there are often questions that crop up.

I was apprehensive when Mum first moved into St Armands Court as was a big decision at the time.
I had no need to worry as she has settled in beautifully, the staff are so kind to her and generous with their time and support for her which she comments on from time to time. As a relative, I am always
welcomed into their environment they also support my needs while their chats with the staff are mainly humorous
dinner time especially. All I can say is that as a team they make St Armands a lovely place for the residents to engage in events they hold regularly.
Would recommend a 100% well-deserved.

My mother-in-law has been a resident for six weeks. In that time, the family has found all the staff to be really caring. No matter how busy they are, they find time to reassure both family members and my mother-in-law. Enquiries are dealt with promptly and efficiently.

Thank you for your review. I will pass on your positive comments to the staff at the next staff meeting. I'm glad your mum is settling well and the family are happy with the care she is receiving.

Mum-in-law has now been a resident for around six weeks after deciding she felt unsafe and lonely in her own home, having fallen a few times. Her health wasn't good, and she struggled with self-care and medication.
Since she has been at St Armands, she has started to feel better, and her health has
improved.
Whenever we visit, we are met with friendly staff who make us feel welcome.
There are activities happening often, and residents seem happy to be included. As relatives, it's great to see our family members being involved. She is very sociable so needs this.
She recently went out on a group trip to a theatre production, which was a fantastic opportunity for her.
I have visited occasionally at lunchtime, and the meals look appetising and nutritious, and our family member always has a drink offered as well.
We feel reassured that our family member is well cared for and is settling in well.

Reply from Sian Heeley-Hill, General Manager at St Armands Court

Thank you for your review. We're so glad your mother-in-law has settled in, and you feel welcome in our home. We have lots of activities planned and always looking for new ones we can source to please everyone. We hope to do another theatre trip in the summer, and hopefully, the weather will be a little better than the rainy day they went out on last time!

As a daughter, being very involved with the care of my mum, I have always had excellent experiences of the home until the original manager left after 14 years, and also an excellent male deputy left. Then another manager was employed who also left. Tepary managers come in and also left. The home now
is being run by a temporary manager and a new manager. The change is brilliant and noticeable.

Reply from Harvey Zemmel, Director/Owner at St Armands Court

Thanks, Yvette, for your comments.
We have, in recent months, experienced instability at the management level, but I have always ensured there is management cover.
We now have a new management team led by Emma, and I am confident the home will continue to improve the care we deliver to our residents.

Since my mum has moved into St Armands, she has been 100% better than when she went in. The care they have given her has been very good, and all the staff are excellent. If they are worried about anything medical, the doctor is soon called out and seen to.

Over 14-years of visiting my resident contact (service user), I have experienced a very satisfactory and considerate overall satisfaction of the treatment and care of duty my friend is being given. Contact can easily be made with the home, and should I be informed of any problems, this is done in a
quick and sympathetic way.

Reply from Harvey Zemmel, Director/Owner at St Armands Court

Thank you for your positive review... it is appreciated.
The activities provision has recently been increasing with weekly fitness sessions and outside singers coming into the home as restrictions generally have been easing.

I am very, very pleased with all the staff and care the home provides. I feel very lucky that the home had a place for my mum. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff. The home is spotless and has a happy environment, exactly what I want for my mum. Please, thank everyone at St Armands Court.

Having visited several homes this one is the least luxurious but the most caring and understanding, with the most appropriate home-cooked food for the age group of residents. The management and senior staff deserve a special mention as they are excellent. There is a higher ratio of men to women residents
than in most homes, but finding stimulating conversation is harder than you might expect which was initially a disappointment for my father. A very caring, reasonably priced (competitively) home

If I ever need a care home, my family can send me to St Armands. Staff (all staff) are available if you need to talk - no need to make an appointment. Staff and residents are like one family. The atmosphere is so homely. Food and drink are excellent. Safety and security, which are so important, are
first class. All visitors are made very welcome. It is nice that a care home does charity events to support such needy causes.

My aunt became a resident of St Armands Court in December last year. She was welcomed by all the staff and easily settled into her new home. Her care and attention have been excellent. The management and staff treat her with respect and affection and they patiently care for her needs. She appreciates
their hard work. The family are happy where she is and have peace of mind she is well cared for. The management and staff are truly a dedicated team and nothing is too much trouble for them.

Most of the staff are amazing but just a few are not in the right job. They don't have the correct attitude. My main concern is the cleanliness of the place. It is very dirty and not kept clean. The dust in areas and bedrooms you can see is mounted up over days/weeks. Some of the staff have so much
passion for the residents, it's lovely, you can see they care and try to help and provide for them.

Current Review Score: 8.3 (8.311)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.3 (8.311) out of 10 for St Armands Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.686 for St Armands Court is calculated as follows: ( (24 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 35 Ratings = 4.686

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.625 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Armands Court is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.375

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
