My 80-year-old mother was struggling in her flat as she became forgetful and confused. She did not want to live with us as her independence was important to her. We got her a live-in carer who was lovely but the future we saw for her was not alone in her flat with a carer as her world got smaller. From
my first contact with Headingley Hall Care Home they were reassuring, helpful and gently encouraging. The manager listened to my situation and suggested a two-week trial stay at Headingly Hall. An assessor came out to Mum’s flat, spoke at length to Mum, myself snd her carer to establish her needs and was very kind and patient such that Mum really was looking forward to the stay, planned when the live-in carer was due her next fortnight’s break. From the moment she moved into the lovely room with a welcoming card and flowers, to the moment she was waved off she could not have been better cared for. The staff responded quickly to my calls and emails and were scrupulous at following covid guidelines.

It is a fantastic living environment, where my mum’s voice is heard.
The staff are loving, caring and amazing people.
I would truly recommend this care home if you want your loved ones to feel safe, happy and looked after.

senior staff are always at hand if you need to discuss anything and keep the family well informed.

That the last 8 years of my uncle’s life have been as happy as they have is thanks to the tremendous job that the management and staff of Headingley Hall Care Home have done for him. For years following the loss of his partner my uncle soldiered on living alone. Eventually, fed up of it, he asked my
cousin and myself to visit care homes and find one in the Leeds area that we thought he might like. Headingley Hall stood out from the rest.
He moved in and never looked back. Surrounded by staff of all ages who, besides being caring and attentive, are energetic with a lively sense of humour and by fellow residents with whom he could enjoy a varied programme of activities and quality entertainment, he has been transformed and we have been thrilled to see him so happy and engaged again. Wonderful care, dedicated staff, fantastic food, a range of activities, music and any excuse for a party! Downside? He couldn’t think of one and, having visited him almost every week, neither can I.

My dad spent a week at Headingley Hall in June 2021 for respite whilst we went on holiday as we felt that we could no longer leave him at home alone. We were quite anxious about leaving my dad, but the staff at Headingley Hall put us at ease from the very beginning and supported us through the whole
process. My dad was also very unsure about his stay, but the team made such a fuss of him on his arrival that he settled in without any issues, and fully enjoyed his time there, especially the food! The attention to detail and care for my dad was fantastic, and we would not hesitate in recommending Headingley Hall. In fact, my dad is already looking forward to his next visit in August and is hoping that he will be just as lucky on the bingo this time round!

Headingley Hall provided a friendly welcoming home for my mother during a period of respite care earlier this year. The staff met her with smiles, flowers and a card and were eager to get to know her and settle her into her room. She was given every care and consideration during her stay and was encouraged
to take part in various activities, particularly enjoying a visit by the local pony sanctuary, cooking and a gardening class. We would thoroughly recommend the home to others looking for high-quality personal care for their loved one.

My mum spent a week at Headingley Hall when I was on holiday recently and she will shortly be admitted for a longer stay. The home is exceptionally well run by a kind and efficient admin team and all the care staff really do go out of their way to make residents feel at home and happy. I would certainly

I stayed for one week for respite care following discharge from hospital. The room was comfortable and well equipped. The staff were very helpful and caring, I could not fault them.
I have a restricted diet and my only criticism was the choice available resulted in me having to choose omelettes/baked
beans and baked potatoes too often: a greater variety of choices for people needing a soft diet would have made my stay perfect.

I cannot speak highly enough of the team at Headingley Hall and the quality of care they provided for my father.
Considering my father had only been a resident at Headingley Hall for a few weeks he was treated as one of the family and it was clear that the team had built up such a caring relationship
with my father he was so happy to be at the Hall. He spoke so fondly of all the team and how they did everything for him and he had nothing to worry about.
Following a serious stroke in early May 2021, my father was placed on end of life care and we were encouraged by Headingley Hall to bring him back home from the hospital to spend his final days being cared for by this wonderful team.
The job they all did under the leadership of the manager was nothing short of exceptional and made those final days as comfortable for my dad as they could be which was such a help for both me and my family to see my dad being so well looked after.
Well done to everyone!

I cannot praise Headingley Hall enough. They have literally saved my mum's life. She needed respite care to build up her strength following a period of illness. They were able to welcome her despite covid pressures and they have been absolutely wonderful - caring, attentive, great communicators, kind
- you name it - I'm booking my place there for (hopefully) 30 years' time!

What can I say about all the staff at Headingley Hall? They are the kindest most caring compassionate and loving people I know. Mum and Dad have both been unwell recently and the kindness and care that has been shown to both of them from everyone at the home have been fantastic. They are amazing people
going above and beyond to get Dad who has been in Hospital back home to Mum. You are all truly inspirational. Simply the best, from all the family.

My father has been a resident at Headingley Hall for three years. During that time he has been consistently well-cared-for not only as a duty but with warmth, friendship and love. Living a long distance from him, I visit once a month and it is clear that he is contented, at ease and feels he can talk
to staff. Inevitably, occasionally there have been various matters that need addressing, but I have always felt that I can approach the staff, my requests are listened to and responded to with courtesy and as soon as possible. The relief I feel to know that my father is being looked after so well cannot be expressed. Staff have become friends to me and the place feels homely to walk into. They are willing to go above and beyond, organising treats for birthdays and seeing each resident very much as an individual. I would have no hesitation in recommending Headingley Hall.

My father had been a resident at Headingley Hall for the past nine years. During that time, he received a very high standard of care from the team at the home. It was very reassuring for us to know that he was in a place where he was safe and well looked after.
The team communicated to us on a regular
basis if they had any concerns. My father's room was always clean and he enjoyed the food!
He sadly died in June 2020 but I have no hesitation in recommending Headingley Hall as a residential home.

During the recent Covid-19 pandemic with all its associated worries and anxieties, I have found that the organisation and attention to detail (caring for staff and residents and relatives) has been extremely good and reassuring. The Headingley Hall team have kept relatives informed regularly on the
changing situation and appear to have placed the residents and staff members at the forefront of their Covid response. Communications with relatives have been facilitated by phone and virtual chats. As soon as garden visits were deemed safe (socially distanced) these were arranged. I cannot praise the management and team enough. Thank you.

We are supporting our elderly aunt from a distance, and can therefore only see her every few weeks. She has been in this home over six months and we have been pleased with the care she has received. We appreciate being kept up to date by email, that was a little shaky at the start, but we now have good
lines of communication. All the staff are cheerful, helpful, and genuinely enjoy visiting her at the home. When asked, she always says she is well cared for and happy and feels that one can ask if anything needs rasing.

Since my uncle moved into Headingley Hall he has been very happy. He finds he is able to be friendly with, and chat with the other residents, he doesn't feel lonely. He is well looked after, with the staff all taking an interest in his physical and mental care. Whenever the staff pass him they will
always have time to chat or have a pleasant word. He has been able to move some of his books and other belongings into his room, so making it feel more like home. I am certainly very happy that he made the decision to move into Headingley Hall.

Mum and Dad have been residents in Headingley Hall for nearly two years. When it was unsafe for either of them to remain in their own home Headingley Hall was able to provide a room just big enough for them both together. Recently, the management has created a larger room on the ground floor overlooking
the garden (Dad had a large garden at home, which he loved) which they have just moved into. All the staff at Headingley Hall provide the highest standard of care and support at every level. Family and friends are always made to feel welcome. As a family, we know they are safe and happy.

After many months of researching and visiting residential homes, we came across Headingley Hall. From the minute we arrived the staff were so welcoming and we could clearly see how caring and friendly they were to all the residents. The facilities, buildings and grounds were impressive and after a few
visits, we decided to move my mum in for respite with potential for a permanent move. After a number of weeks she didn’t want to leave so we made a decision to make the move permanent. She loves the staff and all the activities and has never looked back.

Job Title: Interim Manager, Headingley Hall Care Home

I started working in care 24 years ago when I was 16 years old as a weekend job whilst studying for my A-levels.


I progressed into working with elderly adults with learning difficulties and led a group of young adults with Down Syndrome to work within the care industry themselves, supporting them with a career in catering and social care.


I left that role to attend University in Leeds where I studied Interdisciplinary English Literature and History.


After a brief stint working in finance, I made a decision to return to care and remain in Leeds and before I knew it, I gained a job at Headingley Hall 14 years ago and have never looked back.

I started as a night care assistant before progressing into a Senior Carer role. This made me realise that this was my chosen profession. Seeing the difference, I could make in someone's life by ensuring their health and well-being were as supported as possible gave me satisfaction.


I discovered a keen taste for liaising and providing support to all health professionals who visited Headingley Hall. By working alongside the health professionals and gaining their knowledge and experience, I was able to review our service users with a holistic approach and ensure care remained person-centred.


Since then, I progressed to the Deputy Manager role at Headingley Hall and completed my Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care.


My learning continues every day and I continue to love the challenges each day throws at me. I am excited about the opportunity to lead as Interim Manager and I hope my future continues to progress within the care sector.

Sharon joined the care team at Headingley Hall in June 2003 as Deputy Manager and was promoted to Care Manager, taking on full responsibility for the care delivered to the residents in June 2011. She became the home’s General Manager in October 2012.


Sharon has worked in care homes since leaving school at 17. She started as a Care Assistant and rose through the ranks to Senior Care Assistant and Residential Co-ordinator before leaving her first care home to join Headingley Hall. Sharon is now the Operations Manager who oversees the overall activities across Westward Care Services.


Sharon believes that good communication skills and developing excellent relationships with residents and their families are key to providing outstanding care and support to everyone.

Elaine has worked in administration since the age of 17.


Her prior experience involved working in an import/export company, an international charity and a furniture manufacturing company before coming to work at Headingley Hall in 2010.


Part of Elaine's role is to provide full admin support to the General Manager and Heads of Departments across the care home and retirement apartments.


Elaine is also involved in managing the enquiries for the home and she is passionate about ensuring families have smooth transitions to the home when making this important decision.
