I am very impressed by the quality and care my brother receives at Larchfield. He is a long-term resident in excess of ten years and thinks of it as home. The staff are excellent, and he is happy with the food and accommodation. I recommend the care home most highly

Still here. I'm ill at the moment but I think I will get through this with help from staff at Larchfield. Staff at the home are a bit more helping me with anything I'm finding hard to do myself. Also the food is just fantastic and this is coming from a man who is struggling with his appetite. So still
happy to be still here. Leeds Utd played and we had a little party thanks to staff.

2024 was a year in which we recovered from Covid and all of its ramifications. A number of new residents brought with it new challenges, as well as strengthening older ones. There were some delays to the garden but we hope to address these early in 2025. Activities and entertainment have almost now
reached an acceptable high. Some rescheduling was necessary. Overall Larchfield, along with new staffing levels, make this a friendly and loving home.

My husband has been to Larchfield 4 times now and despite not wanting to go (respite care) he enjoys it whilst he is there. The staff are lovely and welcoming. I feel confident he is being looked after.

I cannot thank all the wonderful staff at Larchfield enough for the wonderful caring way they look after my brother especially in these covid times, when they have made sure everyone is protected from this horrible virus, in a dignified, well informed, caring and protective way. It's like one big family
at Larchfield, and all the staff and residents love working and living there. The manager and her team of lovely carers, I cannot thank you enough for the loving, caring way you look after my brother and other residents. You are all true angels.

I've lived here for 9 years. The management are excellent. I get money every day. I go out when I want to. I like to go to Ilkley on the bus. It's nice upstairs where my room is and I can listen to my music.

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.521)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.521) out of 10 for Larchfield is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.411 for Larchfield is calculated as follows: ( (28 Excellents x 5) + (23 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 56 Ratings = 4.411

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.11 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Larchfield is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 41 registered maximum number of service users is 8.2. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.2 = 0.61

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
