When I was told Mum required 24hr care after several falls and Dementia could no longer cope at home it was the worst news ever. But my Dad who has passed away had a friend who lived in Ashby lodge and visited every week for the last 5 years would come home and comment on the lovely care his friend
was receiving. He often said how he could live there himself. So straight away I knew where my mum would have the best possible care. Mum has been living in Ashby Lodge since February and settled in lovely feeling at home almost straight away and for someone who used to say she wouldn't live in a care home is saying a lot! I am so happy as I have seen a complete transformation in her Health and especially her mental state with the constant stimulation she receives there, I feel I have my mum back. Her grandchildren love visiting her and even our little dog who goes most days loves all the fuss given to him from residents and staff. I can not praise the wonderful staff enough, Thank you.

I cannot thank Ashby Lodge for the loving care they gave my wonderful Mum. They are a true family full of love and support. My Mum had a loved and happy environment. The staff are so thoughtful and caring. My Mum was well looked after and we were also given lots of support from them. My mum and us truly
had an extended family. When my mum passed away in February, they could not have been more helpful and caring and supportive. They truly helped us a lot. My mum was a character and they loved her for that. Our family will always be thankful to them. The care is outstanding, and the connection between the Family and Staff. We were so very lucky to have our wonderful Mum and Granny spend her last months in a wonderful environment.

Dad was a resident for just over 5 years and I believe he enjoyed his time here often commenting on how good he was looked after by the carers. Although dad preferred to remain in his room he liked to have his door open so that he could see and speak to carers passing by. What he did day by day was
up to him.
The carers and management always had time to deal with dad in a manner you'd expect and also with family and friends when visiting.
Thank you for looking after dad and making his last years comfortable.

My mother was a resident at Ashby Lodge, Wakefield for 7 years. In all that time I never had cause to complain about the home or the staff. She sadly had a major stroke but lingered, however the last week of her life was spent at "home" where the staff wanted her to be and her care was both loving and
infinitely caring.
I can recommend this home unreservedly. We never once regretted choosing this site for my Mums final years.
Thank you to staff and management, may you continue with the good work so very much needed for the elderly.

My mother's needs are met and if there is a problem I ring up and the manager and staff respond quickly. She has a few minor illnesses which have been picked up easily and the GP called. The staff always ring me to inform me of any issues. My mum is happy in Ashby Lodge Residential Home.

My mother cannot walk or talk but the staff seem to know what she wants, she cannot join in with anything, but never gets left out. Her bedroom door is always left open so she can see people passing. The staff always keep her clean and tidy. She has her hair cut every month as I have asked, they do
her nails so she doesn't cut herself. They bring her dinners on time even though she cannot and will not go to the dining room. I am very pleased with the way she is treated and if anything happens, day or night, they let me know straight away as I have requested, my brother and all of our family agree.

My grandma has started to suffer from dementia and was not able to cope living in sheltered accommodation anymore. We managed to secure her a place at the Ashby Lodge. She loves it! whilst she has continued to decline from a dementia aspect. She is really happy, content and safe. She feels as though
the carers are family. They are kind, patient and have a wicked sense of humour. We are indebted to them for their support and care.

My father has been in Ashby Lodge for 9 months. Throughout that time the care for his health and wellbeing has been outstanding. The manager and her staff genuinely care about and respect every resident.

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.826)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.826) out of 10 for Ashby Lodge Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.542 for Ashby Lodge Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (32 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.542

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.284 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashby Lodge Residential Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 22 registered maximum number of service users is 4.4. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 4.4 = 0.909

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
