My mum has been living at Breadalbane Residential Care Home for two years now, she suffers from vascular dementia and Alzheimer's. I'm very happy with the care she receives, she is well looked after, comfortable and warm, she eats well and she has a lot of affection for the staff members and they for
her.

Our mum was admitted one week before Christmas after being in Hospital after a fall in her home.
Mum is 89 and has been suffering with Vascular Dementia for around 4 years, during this time she has lived at home alone with support from her family and carers.
As her condition got worse, she has been
unable to live alone, even with support, and now needs 24-hour care.
This transition has not only been very emotionally difficult for our mum but for us and all the family too. The staff, including the Owner and Manager, made the transition as smooth as possible and worked with us well to settle Mum in. She has a lovely room, and we were able to do whatever we wanted in the room to make it a home from home.
She is very settled since moving in and the staff are so nice, both to Mum and to us. We have seen a video of Mum dancing and singing with a performer who visited the home, it was so good to see her enjoying some of the things she did before her life with dementia.
Thank you.

Mum was well looked after and loved by the staff. Staff were very helpful at all times, very caring sometimes in difficult situations. Had a good choice of homemade food, made stuff she fancied. When not well, doctor or nurse called straight away when needed.

We have always found staff to be very friendly and very helpful. They all work hard to ensure all residents are treated well and in a safe environment. Staff have kept us informed of any changes to any medical issues that have occurred. The home is clean and nothing is too much trouble if the menu for
the day is not to her liking, they always make sure she has something to eat.

My mother was in residence for just over two years and in that time, I could not fault the service that she received. If there were any problems with my mother they informed me straight away, from having eye tests to even the odd fall, the staff were all very good and friendly. The staff have a tough
job but always found time to answer any questions we had and the owner and manager always made time to have a chat with us.

We chose this residential care home because there are only fifteen residents, giving a homely feel.
The management and staff are always approachable and helpful. If we have ever had a problem it has been solved very quickly.
There have never been any concerns about cleanliness, personal care and daily
needs are met to a high standard.
My mum has dementia and has been a resident in Breadalbane Care Home for three-plus years, this is her home, where she is happy and settled. We are a large family and visit regularly, giving us a chance to assess her care.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.183)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.183) out of 10 for Breadalbane Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.583 for Breadalbane Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (45 Excellents x 5) + (24 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.583

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Breadalbane Residential Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 15 registered maximum number of service users is 3, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
