Mum took up residence at Carleton Court in October 2023 and lived there until her passing in November 2024. During her time there, the care and love she received was first class and as a family we had no concerns over how she was looked after. We were kept informed of any issues arising at all times
and involved in any decision making. There was a good choice of food and there were staff constantly cleaning everywhere. There were activities going on at the house for residents but despite their efforts to get mum to join in she always declined.

My Dad went into Carleton Court in January 2024 initially for respite care. He was suffering from dementia and other medical conditions and after suffering a few falls, he was hospitalised for several weeks. I was delighted that we were able to place my Dad at the home to help him recover and, hopefully,
make this a permanent solution for him to enjoy his twilight days. This is a truly wonderful care home that is very clean, homely and well-maintained. I found the staff to be kind, and caring and have their residents' needs at the centre of everything that they do. There was always plenty of staff on duty and it was clear to me from my regular visits that the residents are happy and enjoy living at the home from the smiles and conversations at the home. There is a lot of love in this place. Sadly, my dad passed away unexpectedly on 19th February, but I have nothing but praise for the home and the lovely team at Carleton Court. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

My mum went into Carleton Court Care Home in December 2022, it was initially for respite care over Christmas but she settled so well we decided to make it permanent. The owners and staff at the home are all lovely and caring people and all my mum's needs were met. My mum had a heart condition and a
doctor was called when needed and Mum had a specialist heat nurse going in to see her. The home kept us up to date all the time with text messages and phone calls. We would highly recommend Carleton Court Care Home. Mum died on the 23rd of March 2023.

It gives me great pleasure to write this review for Carleton Care Home. Our dear mum needed emergency respite care with a view to becoming a permanent resident. Mum was assessed and accepted into their care. We were so anxious about placing Mum into a Care Home, it was something that we never wanted
or envisaged having to do. However, our fears were quickly allayed! Mum settled instantly and that was down to the most wonderful, kind, caring staff and management. Nothing was too much trouble. Mum was safe, warm, well fed and monitored around the clock. She was made to feel so welcome from the moment we walked through the door. Mum loved engaging with residents and staff and loved how warm, friendly and professional they were. Mum felt physically and physiologically safe and secure. All her needs were being met. She really enjoyed all her meals and treats and she made friends very easily. Carleton Court turned out to be Mum's last, but best chapter. She was so very happy there.

In 2011 my mother went to live in Carleton Court Care Home at the age of 86 and suffering from osteoporosis. The care was excellent as were the staff and accommodation. When in 2019 my elderly cousin could no longer manage on her own, I had no hesitation in contacting the manager at Carleton Court who
quickly made a room available and we are experiencing the same level of care and support. I have also recommended and 92-year-old friend who is now settled in Carleton Court Care Home.

My mum lived in the care home for almost two years before she sadly passed away. On her arrival at Carleton Court Care Home, her mental health and overall health vastly improved. All of the staff are kind, compassionate, efficient and supportive, nothing is too much trouble. Management are excellent,
friendly, professional and extremely helpful. I will be forever grateful for the care and love Mum received, I couldn't have asked for more. A wonderful place and very highly recommended.

For the final period of my dad's life, I could not have wished for a happier, more home-from-home place to be cared for than Carleton Court Care Home. I knew that my dad was being cared for 24 hours by a wonderful team who put residents first! And also their family. Nothing was too much trouble if there
were any queries. My dad was happy with the company of other residents and activities and well looked after to end of life.

Carleton Court Care Home far exceeded our expectations. The care my dad received was beyond outstanding. Every single member of staff, no matter what their status was, showed care and understanding beyond measure. Nothing was too much trouble even when you could tell they were pressed for time being
very busy. I would recommend Carleton Court to anyone and everyone.

Mum was 90 and in the early stages of dementia when she moved into Carleton Court Care Home in 2019. She settled in straightaway and quickly formed a heart-warming friendship with another resident, who also had dementia. The only anxiety she ever expressed was that she might have to move elsewhere.
Carleton Court has a warm, happy atmosphere and a marvellous team of cheerful, sympathetic, quietly-competent staff who always have time for you no matter how busy they may be. It's obvious that they genuinely care about the residents and that it's more than "just a job" for them. As Mum's sad decline inevitably progressed, her increasing needs were met without any fuss and with deep compassion and thoughtfulness. Her final days were calm, comfortable and peaceful - and everything you could hope for. We will be eternally grateful that Mum found such a safe and secure haven when she needed it most and that her last few years have been brightened with so much fun and laughter.

A very positive experience of residential care for my mother. All the staff are friendly and approachable and have real empathy with residents and visitors alike. The care home is always spotlessly clean and there is no "institutional" smell. The whole family are very satisfied.

We have been so very impressed by the way that the owners and staff at Carleton Court have continued to deliver excellent care and find creative and innovative ways to promote contact between their residents and their families during the last two years. We are now finally able to visit relatively freely
and the atmosphere there is, as it was before, both warm and welcoming.
It has always been our direct experience that the staff at Carleton Court go above and beyond in the care they offer and that hasn't changed in spite of the restrictions and additional pressures that Covid-19 created for them. Our relative has remained happy, comfortable and safe throughout, we are very grateful to them all.

I had my first visit in the new garden room 2 weeks ago which was so special. Upon arrival I mentioned to Rod that my grandmother was hoping to have a cup of tea with me, I explained I had brought along a cream cake for us and asked if he could make us a cup of tea. Not only did he make us a lovely
cup of tea he also provided plates with doilies and a knife, it really helped to make our day very special. Nothing is ever too much trouble and the home always put the residents first. I am confident my grandmother is in the very best place, she is safe, warm, fed, watered, very much cared for and very happy.

Dad, who was 89, arrived at Carleton Court the day after lockdown. Dad was transferred directly from hospital, where he had been for over five weeks. His health was not good and he was deteriorating quite rapidly but the care and compassion the staff gave to him and us as a family was second to none.
I felt such an overwhelming sense of relief that we had found this care home as Dad was treated with such dignity and respect at such a difficult time and nothing was too much trouble.
As a family, we cannot thank all the staff enough for their hard work and dedication and we would definitely recommend Carleton Court to anyone who needs to be cared for.

Reply from Rod Walker, Registered manager/Director at Carleton Court

We try extremely hard to see and care for the individual. We look at everyone’s situation with empathy and compassion, and deliver care the is appropriate to them. Your dad was no exception, we wish we had met him sooner and in better health. God bless him

We feel very privileged that mum is a resident of Carleton Court. It is a friendly happy community. The staff are helpful at any time you visit, never sit still and are around all the time to attend to the needs of those in their care. They know and care about mum like a member of their own family and
we feel confident and happy that she lives in such lovely surroundings and is so well cared for.
During this frightening time during the coronavirus pandemic, we are so grateful that she is being so well cared for and we have no worries she is happy and receiving the best care. We are kept well informed of the ever-changing situation and we as a family always sing the praises of the home and would recommend it without reservation. Mum will have been a resident for the last 5 years and we chose it for her for its locality, the lovely home and gardens and the Christian ethics and respect of its residents, giving them care and their personal dignity. Thank you to all at Carlton Court.

My mum has recently attended Carleton Court for respite care.
The staff were very considerate, kind and extremely caring to her, it was her first-ever visit into respite care.
I could not fault this care home at all and would not hesitate to use this care home again.
I cannot thank them enough for
the help received, which was at very short notice.
They were so very understanding.
Thank you.

This care home is fantastic. My relative is very happy here, well cared for and feels safe. After many worrying months about placing a loved one in care we, as a family, can relax knowing she has the best care. Staff work very hard, really care and go the extra mile. Management are present and staff
are well-led. Carleton Court is a home.

My father's care needs have been managed so well at Carleton Court. As I live in the south of England, it was important to find a care home that I could trust to give my dad the best possible quality of life. I went into Carleton Court on the 16th August, I had broken my ankle three weeks earlier and wasn't managing. I had a very nice, private room, with all I required, and plenty of very helpful checking and helping me to wash, dress and bringing my food throughout the day checking if I needed anything
in between. I was also able to have my hair done each week. The staff arranged for the ambulance to take me to hospital, my GP to visit, also have my warfarin bloods done from the clinic. Nothing was a trouble to them and I came home feeling much improved and another box ticked, if ever needed help in the times ahead, no fears.

Current Review Score: 8.7 (8.679)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.679) out of 10 for Carleton Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.7 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 5.000 for Carleton Court is calculated as follows: ( (36 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.679 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Carleton Court is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 7 = 0.429

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
