Inwood House is a residential care home set in beautiful landscaped gardens in Horbury, just on the outskirts of Wakefield, Yorkshire.

Inwood is home to up to 55 residents and employs around 50 trained and experienced staff, allowing for superb, individualised dementia and residential care. Many people also stay for shorter term respite or rehabilitation stays.

The home has been lovingly extended from an original period property, and comprises majority en-suite and wet room bedrooms. There are multiple communal lounges, an on site café, hairdressing salon, dining room and sun room where residents can relax and enjoy views out over the gardens.

The dedicated activities team always ensures there’s plenty to do for those that wish to participate and make new friends, with regular trips out to a wide range of local parks, museums and nature reserves.

When the weather permits, residents enjoy gardening, reading & outdoor activities in a fully secure and peaceful garden.

The team pride themselves on their dedication to the dignity, privacy, choice, fulfilment and independence of the residents in their care. The in-house catering team prepare a range of meals daily which cater for all residents tastes, with fish and chips on a Friday remaining a firm favourite!

Meal times are flexible and the team will support people to eat if required, while any dietary requirements are accommodated.

Initially proposed as a temporary respite 2 week stay for my wife to avoid her anxiety during house modernisation to suit her needs. Then considered her possible added anxiety without me (and mine) so asked if I could stay as well! Accepted! What an excellent opportunity! Every staff member very quickly
understood her character and needs and always gave her necessary care in a most sympathetic manner. Individual rooms were spacious, airy and very comfortable, and common areas also. Food was always more than enough, well presented and with a wide variety over the period. Activities with enthusiastic staff participation were well organised and enjoyed by all residents. A ‘happy holiday’ made so entirely by the warmth and friendliness of carers. This first-hand experience has given me the confidence that should it become necessary, to entrust the care of my wife to this establishment.

Mum’s been living at Inwood House for several years now and has been very settled and happy. Most recently we had quite a challenging situation regarding Mum, it was handled with great sensitivity by management. I was particularly grateful to the manager, who went out of her way to support us in a very

Three years of excellent care from a compassionate, friendly team who always treat mum with dignity. Inwood House is well maintained, clean and above all a happy, safe environment for residents. I would have no problem with recommending this care provider.

My father spent the last 2 1/2 years of his life at Inwood House including a very difficult (for all) lockdown. The staff were fantastic and up to lockdown I witnessed on a daily basis, care and compassion for him and all the others. Caring, efficient and spotless.

My mother recently passed away after five very happy years at Inwood House. In all of those years, she kept saying how lovely the staff were. As a visitor, I could see that she was well cared for in every way. The food was well prepared, and wholesome and everywhere was clean and cared for. However,
it was the attitude of the staff, whether, in management, nursing care or housekeeping, that so impressed me and my sisters and we will always be grateful to them for their help and kindness.

Clean, well-cared-for residential home. Excellent staff; friendly, dedicated, considerate, cheerful and very professional. My mother spent over four years here until she died last week. My mother stayed at Inwood for just over 2 weeks in orders to discover what a care home could offer her and to help her decide whether the time was right for her to make the change from living alone to a care environment. In the end, she decided that she did not yet require the level of care offered
by Inwood and is now back in her own home, however, should the time come when this level of care is required, Inwood is the place that she would like to be.
The rooms are well appointed and kept very clean. The staff pop in regularly to make sure everything is OK. The building is modern and well appointed. Handrails in all the corridors and lifts. Very secure. The staff are caring and dedicated. There are light and airy communal areas on both floors. All in all, a really good experience and highly recommended.

My mum has just moved to this amazing residential home. All the Management have made my mum extremely welcome and I cannot praise this home enough. My mum is treated with dignity, compassion and kindness by ALL the staff. Nothing is too much trouble for the care assistants. The home itself is clean
bright and welcoming and the resident's rooms are spacious, well equipped. The food is varied, warm and delicious. There is a widely varied entertainment programme. Our family were very impressed with the free cafe and any time visiting hours.


Unfortunately, my mum had a really bad fall last year breaking her hip, pelvis and knee, so she requires a lot of care with her mobility and personal needs but I am confident that she is dealt with in a dignified way at all times. Her records are kept up to date and I can see at a glance what care mum has received. She has settled well and feels safe.


This is an outstanding residential home which is very well run with qualified kind, caring staff.

My Father has lived at Inwood since January when he was discharged from hospital following surgery for a fractured head of femur at the age of 91. The staff at Inwood are dedicated, compassionate and understanding. Since he has been living there my father has improved physically, mentally and emotionally.
He is very happy living there and I can sleep at night without worrying about him and jumping every time the phone rings! I am happy and confident that he is safe and being well cared for.

Donna is a highly regarded Registered Manager with almost 30 years of experience in leadership roles in care organisations.


She’s held a variety of roles in the sector, starting as a Carer and working up to Senior, Deputy and Manager positions.


Donna has received industry recognition for her leadership skills, winning the Manager of the Year award at the Yorkshire & Humberside Social Care Awards.


Outside of work, Donna enjoys time outdoors with Spencer her Labrador cross.


Carrie

Carrie Stabler

Carrie is our Deputy Manager at Inwood. She has two decades of experience in both residential and complex care settings in & around Yorkshire.


Born & bred in Horbury, Carrie knows the area and is well-liked by the staff, residents and families we serve.


Fun fact: Carrie worked at Inwood House 10 years ago as a Night Carer before returning in 2021 as our Deputy Manager! We’re lucky to have her back.
