Following a knee operation, I decided I would need care and support rather than go home. I stayed for 8 nights. Before my stay, I visited the home and saw the room. From my arrival staff were very friendly, always introduced themselves, offered help but respected my decision when I wanted to help myself.
I always knew that if I needed help I could call. This stay following my op was the right thing for me. The gardens are beautiful, the other residents friendly, I was free to go out anytime I wished to walk through the village.

I have just visited my mother-in-law in Walton Manor. It is hard to believe that this was the same lady who was so ill over the Christmas period. Walton Manor has provided exemplary care and support to her and to us! Their prompt action involving medical agencies; their sensitive and dignified handling
of my mother-in-law at the most vulnerable of times has been quite inspiring! We have been involved, informed and consulted throughout the whole process of helping her back to better health. From day one we always felt that Walton manor was the best place she could be, our experience has completely confirmed our view. The unstinting efforts of the manager and all her staff are so appreciated. They have consistently and compassionately catered for her changing needs. Today I sat with a comfortable, happy, elegant lady engaged in activities taking place. She was well and happy! The hallmark of Walton Manor is kind and gentle encouragement to independence and dignity. She was discreetly taken to the bathroom by the staff. In February we celebrated her 90th birthday with a lovely party, a wonderful day and something we hardly dared for towards the end of 2018. Thank you Walton Manor.

We cannot praise Walton Manor enough for their care of my Grandma. She is treated with respect and kindness by al the staff. She has had mobility issues and the staff have preserved her dignity at all times, whilst encouraging her recovery and independence at all times. To make her feel secure an at
ease, they have changed furniture, layout and even her bed to make sure she is comfortable. We often visit with my young family have been made to feel so welcome by all the staff. At Walton, they clearly welcome and cater for visitors of all ages. We were so impressed when children's colouring books were produced so that my 3 and 5 year olds could 'colour with Great Grandma'. This was a special moment for us all! Staff offer juice and ice lollies in the summer. They go the extra mile to be inclusive and to tailor care to individual residents and their families. In my opinion there is none better than Walton Manor.

Thank you so much, Walton Manor, for looking after my mum. My mum is bereaved, has dementia, heart failure and is profoundly deaf. I can truthfully say that Walton manor work really hard to meed my Mum's needs. Her appetite is obviously affected by some, or all of the above at different times. Walton
Manor have bent over backwards to provide meals to tempt her to eat. On some occasions, they have gone completely off the menu to provide things she likes or prefers. We thank the cook for this, it has made a difference. The staff have monitored her carefully, provided snacks, even meals when she felt hungry, even in the middle of the night! They keep her well hydrated, she always has a drink by her side which she is reminded to drink. The staff are wonderful, kind and calm. We confidently leave her in their excellent care after our visits.

Whilst nothing is perfect, I have been into many care homes during my work and cannot think of a better care home than Walton Manor.
The staff generally give that bit extra. Just one example is a member of staff staying with my father in A&E until 3 am.
The staff are friendly, caring and approachable.
My
father has frequent outings, some arranged by the home, some by himself.
He has made friends in the home and is a sociable man.
It is clean, well furnished and the residents can enjoy the sunny conservatory and are often outside in the well-kept garden.

Mum needed care quite urgently, thankfully Walton Manor and it's wonderful staff came to the rescue. Mum was nervous and agitated about leaving her home and 'living with strangers'. The staff however have made her move so much easier than we could have hoped for. All the staff we have contact with show
great care, kindness and compassion towards Mum. There are regular high-quality activities that Mum always attends and enjoys - something, we as a family are thrilled about, as she is generally quite nervous with people she doesn't know well. To see her dancing to the old songs with others was a joy, she's not done this for years! There is a warm, calm, safe atmosphere at Walton Manor. As soon as you go in there's a friendly face to greet you and take you to where Mum is and to tell you what she's been up to and how she is, they always know! They treat us and Mum with friendliness and respect and always have time for you. I couldn't wish for anywhere better for my very special mum.

Very difficult transition as he was very reluctant. His room is perfect, clean and very well maintained - hotel like. Food, staff and care is excellent, lovely surroundings with lots of activities.

I went for one week after having a new knee. The staff were very good, some excellent but they are not nursing. One night when I asked for my ice pack it had been left in office. Apart from that if I asked for help to go to my room, one member of staff would see me up in the lift to my room as I did
not feel safe on crutches.

Having had major surgery, I needed residential care/support until I could travel to my family down south.

Walton Manor provided the care and support needed, bearing in mind I was completely mobile and able to make all decisions for myself. The staff were always on hand to help/support me with surgical

stockings, also offering bathing support which I didn't need

Walton Manor's grounds are relaxing and a pleasure to sit in, walk around and ground staff are very pleasant to talk to. All the staff were very pleasant and caring. I can only stay that staying at Walton Manor more than aided my good and rapid recovery.

Walton Manor is the perfect place for the twilight years.
The staff have been absolutely wonderful and cannot do enough to ensure that mum's needs are met.
Everyone is so friendly and understands the difficulties in coming to terms with not being able to return home.
I have visited a number of CQC
Good rated homes and nowhere comes close to the standards of Walton Manor.

Walton Manor is possibly the best care home I have seen/visited in the Wakefield area. The staff are always pleasant and helpful. Their care for my cousin has met with my expectations.

I am full of admiration for the staff at Walton Manor, that includes the kitchen and laundry, but my main contact is with the carers, who go about their many tasks with good humour and patience. I was not familiar with what goes on in a residential home but I do realise what a difficult and fantastic
job they do.

It was not easy having to place my husband in Walton Manor, but he settled well and I think mostly is very happy.

During February 2017, I had two strokes plus a chest infection followed by pneumonia which left me at 88 in a weakened state. Following convalescence with my family, I was able to return home at Easter with family back up, and made good progress as both sides of my family were due to be away at the
same time In July. I booked myself into Walton Manor for two weeks respite care to give them peace of mind and also to " test the water" should the need ever arises. It was a worthwhile experiment and I was so favourably impressed with the general attitude of care and kindness by all the staff so the uncertain future holds no fears. Thank you.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.352)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.352) out of 10 for Walton Manor is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.495 for Walton Manor is calculated as follows: ( (60 Excellents x 5) + (39 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 105 Ratings = 4.495

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.857 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Walton Manor is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 47 registered maximum number of service users is 9.4. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 9.4 = 0.957

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
