Priory care Residential Home is a privately-owned Cottingham care home providing professional, individual and compassionate care in a friendly, welcoming environment.

The home has undergone a full refurbishment in the recent years and now has a residential unit with large lounge area, access to the garden area, dedicated activity space and its own hairdressers. Upstairs is a specialised dementia unit with a sensory garden in the grounds of the home.

The last section of the home is the palliative/end of life care part, which is complete with large bright rooms, facilities for families to stay overnight, a kitchenette area and a family lounge area perfect for the full family to visit.

It aims to be more than just a standard care facility as it strives to make each resident's home a place where they can retain independence, personal freedom and live out their lives with enjoyment and fulfilment.

The staff have many years of experience providing care to older people in a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, where all services are designed to ensure that care home residents are happy and that individual care needs are met. Care workers treat all residents as they would wish to be treated themselves and believe that while old age, dementia or confusion might mean they can no longer live alone, it should not mean any loss of privacy, dignity or respect.

Priory Care accept private clients as well as local authority-funded clients, and welcomes day care visitors and those who have short-term respite needs.

A most interesting experience, different from any other I have known apart from in hospital. There is a genuine aim to make residents feel at home and become attached to the carers and building.

Staff always courteous and helpful on my visits to my mother. Mother appears to be well looked after and care for. Staff seem keen to do a good job.

The care my dad is getting is very good and we know he is being well looked after. It's a bit frustrating in the length of time it has taken to carry out a blood test and receive results which will result in a medication check, other things have been put in place generally. Very friendly and caring
staff.

I could not have choosen a better home for my mum to be in. Excellent care by every member of staff who work in the home. She is treat with dignity, care and respect. All members of staff are friendly, professional and approacable.
The home is not very big, which I feel gives it a more homely feel
which leads to everyone being treat as an individual.

The care home is superb, and the staff are absolutely outstanding; they always go above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that the residents are cared for, comfortable and happy and to welcome and update visitors. The food is excellent, and everywhere is spotlessly clean. There are regular, fun
activities, and my relative really enjoys herself - it feels more like a large family than a nursing home. We cannot fault the care home in any way and would like to thank all of the staff for all of their amazing care and support.

Excellent care home, the staff are all very friendly and polite. The home is always very clean and warm, the food is healthy and a good variety. The home is modern with a very nice garden for the residents to use in the summer months.

My husband has been in the Palliative Care Unit at Priory Care Home since early August 2022. From my first contact with them, I have been most pleased with all aspects of his care. The staff are pleasant, understanding of his needs and always very friendly. His room has a view of the garden area. It
is clean, light and airy. Most importantly, he has settled well and is comfortable. I feel very relieved to have found such a caring environment for him, and it is a relief for all the family.

I found the care home better than I expected. the staff were always on hand to help with everything I needed. I found them upbeat and always laughing even with themselves as well as us. I was surprised to have a choice of menu at all the meals and we were offered more if we wanted it.

were offered regularly my stay was very comfortable and I felt safe.

The care home has been very professional in assessing my dad and providing respite care. We have felt confident that he is being cared for and that the environment is as safe as possible during COVID times. The staff are friendly, informative and helpful. Particular shout-outs go to two members of staff
in particular, one who welcomes us and is always very supportive and gives us helpful updates and the other who took time to really understand Dad’s needs and capacity, adapting usual care practice in light of his inability to make decisions in his own best interest. Whilst ideally we would have liked a home nearer to Mum and Dad’s home, Priory View has been great in providing respite and is easy to access from surrounding areas.

My mother has been with you now for four or five years now. I have never had any complaints, she has been well cared for and happy in the environment you provide. During the past year, she has become less active and her mind and memory have unfortunately deteriorated. Yet on visiting whether she be
awake or asleep or recognises me she always appears well cared for. The staff are always happy to greet me and friendly and happy to take the time to answer any questions that I may have. Lastly, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at the care home for their devotion and care that you are all displaying at this moment in time. I am unable to visit my mum but at least I know you are all doing your best. Thank you all.

I would like to say that my mum has been at Priory Care for 15 months now. During that time the care she has received has been excellent. She is happy and very well cared for and has really settled in well with the help of the carers and staff there. It is obviously a very challenging time at the moment
and as somebody used to visiting every day, I have found it very hard, however, it has been made a lot easier by seeing my mum on video call chats looking so happy and giggling. Also talking to her on the phone I can tell she is upbeat. The activities co-ordinators there do an amazing job, and I can't thank them enough for giving mum quality of life and interaction with others which she needs and enjoys, and also sharing some of these moments on social media which is lovely when we're not able to visit. The care managers are always friendly and have time for a chat despite the fact they're probably so busy, as do all the members of staff, both face to face, and now during lockdown.

Everyone has been very caring and considerate both to my mother and myself. The staff go that extra mile on a daily basis, and their compassion, commitment and professionalism shine out. The care and attention my mother receives is very good.

Sadly, my father in law was admitted for palliative end of life care. The facilities are excellent, providing everything needed, including a family room for relaxing and refreshments. What makes this place exceptional is the fantastic care team. They looked after us with such sensitivity and compassion,
providing us with everything we needed to help us through this traumatic experience. I can't think of anything that would have made it any better. It made such an impression on me that I found myself singing your praises at the hairdressers, and will always recommend you whenever possible. Thank you.

Elaine Bismor

Elaine Bismor is the care home Manager and Owner, She is a very hand’s on Manager who believes that a Care home should always feel warm, inviting.
Elaine has worked in the care industry all her working life, and has owned Priory care since 2015 and now runs the home with her family. She is also registered manager at The Old Coach house - Hessle and she was as a nurse at Hull Royal Infirmary.


In her job role Elaine has the overall responsibility for the smooth running of the home and to make sure the residents are receiving the best care possible at all times by being a proactive hands on manager. Elaine manages the staff team to a very high standard ensuring that home meets and exceeds the various demands of inspection and all regulations.


Elaine has a string qualifications including but not limited to:

I have worked in the home for 16 years. I am a trained accountant and HR specialised and hold an NVQ in health and social care and other management qualifications.


I am part of running the day-to-day business future-proofing the business for years to come.


I love working in a caring environment on a daily basis, we are always having a laugh and joking around the home and ensuring the residents are living a fulfilled life.

I have completed online training which helps to understand the roles of my colleagues as well as my own role. My previous job was in a busy reception, so I hope I brought some of my skills with me.
