Priory care Residential Home is a privately-owned Cottingham care home providing professional, individual and compassionate care in a friendly, welcoming environment.

The home has undergone a full refurbishment in the recent years and now has a residential unit with large lounge area, access to the garden area, dedicated activity space and its own hairdressers. Upstairs is a specialised dementia unit with a sensory garden in the grounds of the home.

The last section of the home is the palliative/end of life care part, which is complete with large bright rooms, facilities for families to stay overnight, a kitchenette area and a family lounge area perfect for the full family to visit.

It aims to be more than just a standard care facility as it strives to make each resident's home a place where they can retain independence, personal freedom and live out their lives with enjoyment and fulfilment.

The staff have many years of experience providing care to older people in a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, where all services are designed to ensure that care home residents are happy and that individual care needs are met. Care workers treat all residents as they would wish to be treated themselves and believe that while old age, dementia or confusion might mean they can no longer live alone, it should not mean any loss of privacy, dignity or respect.

Priory Care accept private clients as well as local authority-funded clients, and welcomes day care visitors and those who have short-term respite needs.

Six months on and my mother is very depressed, probably due to the lack of stimulation in a tiny dark room. No privacy. Garden unsuitable for the elderly - query seating/swing seat!! Uneven paving, very scruffy.
Some staff were helpful, but mostly elusive.

All the staff are dressed smartly, are polite and friendly and they genuinely appear to be very caring. My mother's room always appears to be spotlessly clean. She has no complaints regarding the meals, in fact, everything is extremely satisfactory.

My mum has been a resident with respite care and weekend care for a couple of years, during which time, I have spent many hours with her and have been able to observe the care given. No care home is perfect, but I have observed a very good level of care and any concerns that I have had have been dealt
with in a prompt and professional way. This care home has left me with the best impression, of the several that we have experienced to date.

The family placed mum at Priory Care Residential Home for respite care while we had a family holiday as her health was declining.
Mum sadly passed away whilst in the care of the home.
The care and service mum received was exceptional and mum was treated with love and dignity at all times. My sister
says the staff were lovely and kept her informed 24/7 of how mum was ect.
She was only with them in the home from July 24th until her passing on 3rd August but passed peacefully. I would recommend Priory Care Residential Home.

Each time I visited the staff were brilliant, they saw mum several times between meals and she thought they were all lovely.
The meals looked of a very good standard and were hot, where appropriate.
She loved her room but there was a shortage of chairs for visitors.
Mum is now at home again but
all her family and she, herself would be more than happy if she had to go in again.

Mum was here for respite and the staff were brilliant; very caring and always treated Mum with respect.
The food was lovely and the room was newly refurbished to an extremely high standard.
Management and staff were very kind and nothing was too much trouble.

Our 96-year-old mother has many complex needs. Priory Care provides her with all the attention she needs, the staff carry this in a caring and sensitive way, they are very professional.

My mother has been very happy and settled in the home. All her needs are cared for given she is 97, quite agile but registered blind. The home has recently undergone a refurbishment and is bright and clean with plenty of staff on hand, it has a friendly atmosphere. Communication is good whenever the
need arises to be informed. Hopefully, the garden will be improved over the next phase of development.

My mother receives great care and careful monitoring of weight, capabilities and behaviour. Reviews are called to inform of any changes due to her illness. The staff are kind and considerate towards all residents, regardless, even though this can be quite challenging at times. My Mum has settled in

I have been treated really well with dignity and respect. Since I have been here seven weeks. It is my first time in a care home and although I was worried and apprehensive at first, I think I have settled in.
I like having my hair and nails done as well.
I have become a bit more independent since
I arrived and although I need a walking frame I am managing to move around on my own.

Mother has been resident here for nine months.
The first six months she has not been able to go out into the garden due to extensive building works and has been disturbed by the noise of the works.
However, these now have finished and the home now is very comfortable and beautifully decorated and
welcoming.
The staff are very caring having time for each resident.
Mother is upstairs in the dementia area, where on occasion staff have to deal with upset and sometimes aggressive residents.
I have witnessed staff coping professionally and very caringly under pressure in these circumstances.
Looking after all residents individually is their priority.
I visit regularly five or six days a week.

My Mother had been suffering from a number of chronic conditions including End Stage COPD, which meant she was on a Roller Coaster of hospital admissions, discharges and home care. With each hospital admission, she came home having lost weight to the point of being malnourished, fallen (3 in total)
and had more skin tears. The time came for her to go into The Priory where she died quite suddenly in the end. However, in that time she was so well cared for that, the difference was obvious just looking at her. After visiting and seeing how things were initially I had to return overseas and continued to communicate by phone, we rang sometimes late at night due to the time difference and it was never any trouble, each staff member was informative and helpful and always gave the phone to my mother to have a chat. It was very reassuring being so far away knowing she was getting such excellent care.

I would visit the care home 2/3 times per week. During this time I met most members of staff. The service given to my friend was caring, efficient and most of all they all made her feel special. Whenever she required medical assistance we were kept fully up to date. Due to the staff and management at
Priory Care Residential Home, her last few months were made wonderful for her. I can't praise the place enough from the kitchen staff to management and everyone in between.

Elaine Bismor is the care home Manager and Owner, She is a very hand’s on Manager who believes that a Care home should always feel warm, inviting.
Elaine has worked in the care industry all her working life, and has owned Priory care since 2015 and now runs the home with her family. She is also registered manager at The Old Coach house - Hessle and she was as a nurse at Hull Royal Infirmary.


In her job role Elaine has the overall responsibility for the smooth running of the home and to make sure the residents are receiving the best care possible at all times by being a proactive hands on manager. Elaine manages the staff team to a very high standard ensuring that home meets and exceeds the various demands of inspection and all regulations.
