My mum moved to Kestevan Grange a few weeks ago. What a breath of fresh air the care home is. She is kept clean and well dressed. Her room is immaculate and so is the rest of the care home. When I take her out, the staff have her ready and waiting on time. The staff are very professional and really
friendly and caring (towards both the residents and their families etc). My mum has dementia and I was quite anxious about leaving her, but they put me at ease. She’s settled in really well.
I would definitely recommend Kestevan Grange to anyone who asks.

Mum went to Kensteven for respite after a spell in hospital. The improvement in her well-being has been amazing. The staff are amazing and excellent with her, they also help me.
Mum is now a permanent resident. Kesteven Grange is a warm and welcoming place to stay and visit. After many years of Mum
being on her own, I am so happy to know she is safe and in caring hands. I do not worry at all about leaving her there after my visits. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Kesteven.

I have found the care given to my father since he moved into Kersteven Grange, five weeks ago, to be excellent.


He is in the Dementia care area, of the home. There are always plenty of staff working with the residents and the atmosphere in the Dementia area is usually calm and friendly. His room

is always clean, and the furniture is in good condition. I have never seen him be anything but clean, tidy and well-groomed.


The whole home is secure. The dementia area is on the second floor served by a lift with a key code activation by staff, so the most vulnerable are kept extra safe.


Dad tells me the food is very good, and he is always keen to get to the dining room. There are drinks and biscuits are served to residents between meals.


I am always kept up to date with his care and any incidents.


I felt very guilty putting Dad into a home, but I feel so glad that the home I chose was Kersteven Grange. I know he is getting first class care

We cannot praise enough the care received by my mother-in-law in, what turned out to be, the last month of her life. From the very beginning, the staff were so helpful and welcoming in what was a time of crisis for the family. Every aspect of her care was excellent and every single member of staff we
came into contact with were kind and genuinely caring. They all went above and beyond to be helpful, particularly when my mother-in-law's health unexpectedly deteriorated. The staff could not do enough for her or the family and it comforts us to know that in her last days she was treated with dignity, respect and great professional care. I would not hesitate to recommend this care home.

My dad was in Kesteven Grange, he went in for end of life care. The staff were excellent they gave my dad the care support and dignity that he deserved. I can't thank them enough, they kept me informed of any changes and nothing was too much for them. I would truly recommend Kesteven Grange Care Home
to anyone who's looking for a care home for their loved ones, all the staff were approachable all other residents seemed very happy and settled.

The care my nana (oldest lady in East Riding at 109 – twenty-fourth eldest in the UK) has received over the last 18 months has been impeccable. The food, rooms, facilities etc are of the highest standard. All the carers and staff have worked tirelessly to make sure my nana (and all the other residents)
have been cared for and protected during this pandemic, all the staff have risen to the challenge with pure dedication and professionalism. We would highly recommend Kesteven Grange.

If your relative needs a little extra care then this is not the care home for your loved one. Reasons:
Told that my mum had settled and asking questions, I pointed out that mum was aphasic and couldn’t ask questions for the last 14 years but was told “well she did!”.
After asking twice for Mum to
be weighed due to her becoming thinner I was told forcefully that “they only weigh them when they come in and go home”.
I reminded the staff that Mum must not stand without her special boots after she sustained a foot wound. Was told she was standing with no boots and even walking a few steps. I repeated this warning but they only took notice after I informed them she will break her ankle if they continued.
There is more I could mention, some are third party conversations so unfair for me to comment on those.
Some staff were very helpful and kind it is a shame that others are bringing this care home to an inadequate level.
Mum was admitted to the hospital and will not be returning.

We are sorry that you found the care delivered to your mother was not at the expected high standard and we have investigated the points you have raised to us. Your mother was indeed aphasic, however she was known to speak very short sentences and communicated well with staff that she recognised, other than that she answered staff with one-word answers. We go out of our way to ensure that where they are able, our residents can utilise different mediums and techniques to aid communication. Your mother’s plan of care was based around staff she was familiar with, and for those staff to show patience so that your mother could make her choices known to us as much as possible. Weight loss was recognised as a concern in a very short space of time, as unfortunately, your mother made it clear to ourselves and her social worker that she was refusing to eat so that she could return to her own home. She also declined to take prescribed medication. The staff in the home sought specialist intervention for this. Your mother was prescribed supplements (Fortisip) and we monitored her fluid and diet intake. Your mother developed a blister on her right foot which the podiatrist and community nurse advised us was due to her callipers on her specialised boots. I suggest you contact these services if you require further clarification of this. She was able to stand and transfer but was using the stand aid instead so no movement from her foot was made. She was then later assessed as needing a hoist for transfers to maintain her safety, which was facilitated by the staff in the home. She was admitted to the hospital due to an acute episode in health and returned to her home following recovery from this, as she had requested to do so. Thank you for bringing these matters to our attention, as concerns of this nature help us to improve our service. If you wish to discuss the matter further please contact the home manager directly who will be happy to assist you.

From day 1 and arrival wondering what to expect, I was very nervous but was quickly put at ease by one of the staff who led me through to a large room 'The Lounge' and was very surprised to hear music being played by 'Queen' at a very low level and very warming to hear it was my favourite band.
