Mum always comes home from respite care happy and smiling. She says she is well cared for and well fed. She is always made welcome and all of the carers make her feel at home. The home is very clean and tidy and mum likes her room to have ensuite and they always try to give her a room with one. Nothing
is too much trouble for the staff at Waltham House Care Home.

The biggest asset Waltham House has to offer is its staff. The small number of residents allows the staff time to spend with the residents. They are extremely professional and dedicated and genuinely care for people they look after. The building maybe a bit dated but it is a bright, clean and tidy inside
and has all the facilities to offer the level of care that all residents require. My father has been in their care for three years and his quality of life has improved greatly.

I have visited many many care and nursing homes for years. Waltham House, in my experience, gives as good a care as anyone. My particular friend made good friends with staff and other residents easily and was cared for very well, until her death on the last day of May.

My sister recently passed away in the excellent care of Waltham House I found all the staff extremely helpful at this time and I cannot express my sincere thanks for all the wonderful and dedicated staff who nursed her for such a long time. God bless you all.

The manageress went through all my mothers care and medication on a daily/monthly basis. Covered concerns regarding safety and putting in place extra measures due to her mobility deteriorating since last years review. She informed me of general liaising with GP's, surgery and district nurses. She readily
answers any concerns that I or my relatives have, these are noted and put into action. I felt at ease as always, as my mother has been under Waltham House care for nearly six years. Myself and my family have absolute faith in all who care for her. The manageress and assistant manageress are a strong team and are always on the ball. Excellent. Well done to all.

We cannot praise this care home highly enough. We moved our mum here as she wasn't getting good enough care elsewhere and were so pleased we did as the everything about this place was 100x better. My mum was very poorly and in the final days of her life. All of the staff dealt with her with utmost care
and empathy. Nothing was too much trouble and everything was done to keep her as comfortable and pain free as possible. The staff were like angels to her and to me and my family. I don't think she could have been in a better place to spend her final days. The attitude and care shown by the lovely staff here will always be appreciated and made a very difficult time much more bearable. I would strongly recommend this care home.

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.511)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.511) out of 10 for Waltham House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.7 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.806 for Waltham House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (29 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 4.806

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.705 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Waltham House Care Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 33 registered maximum number of service users is 6.6. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 6.6 = 0.455

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
